This happened a couple of days ago when I was heading to Quicksand Caves to go level 49whm. As I got close to the cave I was chatting with the party leader from out of no where I see a blur whizz by and then I drop dead on the ground. The party leader was coming to meet me, when he saw my hp bar go to zero. I am like WTF? What happened? (got really pissed at this point) I look at the battle spam and low and behold Rapido Cactuar hits and runs me for 501 damage. I wish I didn't fight that Antican at the tele point to decrease me from 640 somthing to 490. Sigh, it happened so fast, I don't know what hit me. It was all a blur. If I see this little bugger when I get higher level, I am going to hunt this POS down. If you ever run into this MOB and get to engage it, please avenge me. There's a hot pocket for ya if you do take it down.
 
Not to discredit, but Cactrot Rapido is not an aggro mob. This may have happened however, if there was another Cactuar nearby which you first drew aggro from, and Cactrot happened to link on to that one at a pretty inconvenient time. This is the only way to get Rapido engaged, he wont stop for a voke, and you cant target him to attack him.
Also, it takes a large pt to kill even at higher levels. You even earn a new title for being in the party that takes him down, 'Cactrot Deascelerador'
 
Well, I didn't see another cactuar and I checked the log. Just one hit. I am not discounting what you have said. This just happened to me.
 
omg thats almost as fun as getting owned by steelflence at level 8, ghahaha, "Steelfence hits you for 1000 damge," /cry + /laugh
 
Heh Cactuar Rapido ran a circle around me today. Yep, came at me, ran about a 270 degree circle around me and went back out into the desert. I thought he aggroed me too. :shock: Just about scared the heck out of me lol.

that blasted cactuar rapido

i saw it myself a few days ago when going to level around there. i'd never seen a cactuar before him really, so imagine my surprise to see a bloody 2-inch green thing zoom by my whole screen in less than 2 seconds. weird stuff. though after hearing about how to kill him and what he drops....its my new life goal to kick his butt :twisted:
 
I think its just crazy that the only way to aggro him is to have him link with another Mofo in his family.

At least this is one NM that can't be bot camped.

and yes it does require a high level party to take this bastard out.

Hehe, Also if you do fight him, you will get the pleasure of experiencing his 10,000 needles attack. That's right, not 1,000 needles....10,000. :shock:
 
This brings back memories...

I was in the upper 40's as BLM and the PT was waiting for someone to get here. So, we decided to fight Cactuars in the meantime.
Oh god, The horror...

We are fighting... next thing I know I am on the ground and I see Cactrot Rapido just running by. Killed everyone. A WHM came by, raised us all and get this. Rapido came by and killed us again after we started to fight more cactuars... XD
