An exercise in LS hilarity

A precursor: As I still have some amount of respect for the LS in question, no names, either of the players involved or the LS will be named. Should enough people care to know who they are, I can do that later.)

Some backstory.

A long, long time ago, I was a member in a fairly large, well-known social LS. In general, I enjoyed my time there. There were always people I didn't care for (and certainly there were those who didn't care for me) but it was a nice enough place to hang out during long stretches of LFG time and whatnot. My girlfriend is also a member of this shell to this day.

This shell has gone through two reshellings due to leadership changes. The first reshelling I was a part of. During the second reshelling, because I really didn't like the attitude of the shell or the direction it seemed to be heading, I never met back up with the LS leaders to get my pearlsack. No hard feelings, I just felt my time with those people was at an end. My girlfriend has been told by the LS's leader that I'm welcome back at any time, and last week I tanked an LS ZM4 run for them.

Fast forward to today. While I was away, my girlfriend decided to go out and two-box/powerlevel one of our characters' Ninja to 40 to do some BCNMs with. She gave the other account a pearl, mostly so she could see what was going on in LS chat both on the PS2 and PC. About an hour into the leveling (with the second account not saying a word in LS) its pearl was removed. Strangely enough, when she checked the LS to see who would have kicked the other account, noone in-shell had the capability to do so. She gave out another pearl a few hours later and went back to leveling.

Earlier tonight, she found out why, exactly, the pearl was removed. Apparently, a certain current LS sackholder does not like me. Why, I can't say. Maybe I put some centipedes in his vagina or ate a mole off his face or something, I have no idea. I haven't talked to this guy in ages.

Anyway.

She was told by another member that the other account would have its pearl removed on sight by that certain sackholder because members that were kicked from the old shell were not allowed into the new shell. This coupled with the fact that I was never kicked from the shell in the first place is funny enough - but a few other things are icing on the cake:

1) The sackholder in question was kicked from the old shell for rules violations at least once.

2) The LS has invited back kicked members on several occasions.

When she responded that I had never actually been kicked from the LS, rather simply not chosen to return, she was told that my name being around the LS would harm it far too much due to 'past drama.' I think by 'drama' he might mean 'a million people asking me how to do everything under the sun,' but I forget what words mean sometimes too.

After I got home and was shown the chatlogs/told about this, it really was all I could do to keep from being in hysterics. Honestly, to anyone in that LS who doesn't want me around - hey, cool. I haven't been around the shell for something like 6 months now and didn't have any kind of plans to return.

But Palidine, you might want to ask your BigFunn sackholders and see which one of them is carrying what's probably a year-long grudge against me. I imagine a year of centipedes inside a weeping, bloated vagina might be awful uncomfortable

I had a very long conversation with this person today about what happened.

I'll put it this way, I was against the breaking of the pearl for the main reason that people should give reason and then take action, because it makes it clear why a decision is made, is made. I told the person in question that I believed SE was just double-boxing, which is where the second reason came up. I think the person in question...from now on called MemberA...main reason for the drama comment was not you answering everyone's questions, but having to do with the last reshelling and people's dislike of you in the shell in general, he just didn't want to have to deal with your name around in the shell bringing up past problems.

I really did not think this would end up on the flameboard, and likens to what I said to MemberA about discussing then acting in order to stop pointless drama, I told SE that if MemberA comes on he will break the pearl.

As far as my discussion with MemberA, I also talked about you and SE in general, your playing philosophies etc, and how since we (you, SE and I) tend to put a lot of emphasis on self-reliance in this game. MemberA responded that a lot of leech players were weeded out of the LS, I tend to agree. Most of the helping that occurs in the LS is AF, Limit Breaks, ZM runs and CoP missions. The LS isn't full of Labredes like you think. If you believe these people are leechers you are a poor leader and should not be given a sack, straight up. Being in an LS like BigFunn is about helping one another even if it is not always directly in your benefit, not being everyones bitch, but helping one another out. The reason that SE didnt see MemberA was because we were getting members through promys and up to Aqueducts and switched from BF to our CoP shell. I think you remember me talking to you about tactful decisions as a leader, in general, I think you lack it. I'm not being a "lets talk it out" vag either, I'm saying you don't know how to be a good leader beyond the fact that you know what you are doing in the game. In statics or small groups this passes, but not in a Linkshell.

I'm posting this because I'm trying to be as truthful as possible, I'm friends with SE and MemberA, I would be less of a player w/o them and you, but I stopped considering you an in game friend when you came to the conclusion that the social aspect of this game was not worthwhile, so why should I bother socializing with you. I disagree with both sides, which isn't easy because I hold both in respect.

MemberA never comes here and will not unless told about it.

This topic isn't my business at all..but for the sake of interest, this person's had a problem with Cubs for something that happened months ago? If so, they really should drop the grudge; unless something absolutely malicious happened, no reason to stay mad at someone for a month, if even that..

And if I'm misreading the topic entirely, shame on me.

For those who do not know, SE is an abreviation for Cubs gf....not square enix.

Moreover, MemberA may have thought you had been kicked before, he is on and off as you know since he now has a son. Needless to say, I think both of you are being rash, him in breaking the pearl and not knowing exactly what was up and contacting you/SE, and you in posting here before you get the story from MemberA.

I don't think that it was right for "MemberA" (Palidine?) to break pearls without saying anything. That's more of a chickens way out of conflict to get thier way without argument. If anything, he could of easily asked his main member (the GF) if she was on both accounts, and then kindly ask her to remove the pearl whenever she was done on said character he didnt like. That would be the honorable way to break pearls anyway, though I don't think that kind of courtesy matters much anymore. >.>

When I talked to SE I was only relaying my conversation with him. I swear to God when people get on there and bad mouth you I tell them to get off it, because they just don't get it. If "Member A" was willing to talk before giving the anonymous boot, then Cubs would have reason to talk before posting here. Two wrongs do make a right, after all. "Member A" sounds like a pretty crappy person to have sac priveleges. You can't have "Big Fun" if one of your leaders has a "Big Powertrip". Worst case scenario, both Cubs and "Member A" should get the boot. Best case scenario, Cubs gets back in and the problem is forgotten, or at least forcibly suppressed.

I don't see what "Member A's" problem is.

If SE said "Yo i'm on his character hanging for a little you can break it when i'm done" what would be the harm in that? By breaking the characters pearl MA was only making it hard on a fellow LS member, not on Cubs who wasn't even home at the time i'm assuming.

I'm with sculli, why does MA have a sack at all >_>?
