Maybe we should have a post in events schedule, so people who sign up for events here and don't come get listed so they don't continue to waste people's time?

Could be useful assuming people don't abuse it.

Yes please, i had 8 people not show up for my event.Non blms i mean.

No, people just need to learn how to make a post in Event Scheduling. Naturally the occasional person wont show, thats how this world works, but it is alot more likely to happen when your post says "I needz da helps wit da AF2". Give a definate time, date, and list the jobs you need, and you are much more likely to have a successful gathering.

I personally have had alot of success with the posts ive made seeking help with something, and my posts that werent informative enough failed.

Learn2post or GTFO.

I think when you make a good post with a set time there's still a chronic problem of people signing up and completely forgetting about the event. For this reason I pretty rarely use events schedule because I'd feel guilty as a leader having to tell people to wait around while I replace no-shows. Whenever I do go to events start on QCDN it tends to be a huge time sink because of no-shows.

The real question being, why not make a list of unreliable people? Any events you'd start you wouldn't want to know who you can count on? Especially if accepting an unreliable person means you don't accept a person who would have showed up.

Or...the person who is hosting the event reminds the participants of the event a few days before and the day before the scheduled date may help remedy the situation. Some people do forget the events they signed up for.

Likewise, if the participants can't make it, they should let the person who is leading the event know whats up so that the leader can get other people.

Ok right now, I am on said run set up by jyakotsu. He DID make a post stating exactly when to log on. Stated which jobs to use. He even reminded people IN GAME the day before, and the day of. Still people did not show.

So, yes, i think a list would help.

Not only because we know who already hasn't shown up, but because people wouldn't sign up without KNOWING they would make it, since they don't want to show up on the list.

Jyakotsu spent a lot of effort setting up this Divine Might run and he reminded me like 1 week, 4 days and then today about the event. It's purely stated in his topic when it will happen and what is going on. It's nearly updated daily. I can understand his anger and frustration if people don't turn up to what they signed on for, therefore I support this Unreliable List thing.

Unless it's a genuine excuse or unforseeable circumstances, having as much as 8 people out of the whole bunch not showing up is a bit of a bummer. Fair enough if it's just 1, but 8?!

I 100% agree with this idea. I've had several problems with setting things up in advance, and people not showing. And tbh, it's nice of the organizers to remind people, but it should be up to the individual to remember, or simply not sign up ( I have been guilty of this myself, though luckily I was online and was reminded of it, lol .... can't wait to wear my O Hat ^^). Maybe have a rating system similar to what E-bay has, like different lvls of reliability (or un-), and even have ways to work off marks against you.

Just because Euforik signed up last minute and brought 4 BLM's, people who signed up before him had to wait?

That didn't seem fair at all. Did those 4 BLM stay afterwards? I'm guessing they didn't, because on the next run we were short and ended up wiping.

I know you're sorry for not knowing that Dowzer = Scwall (even though it's obvious and in my signature/profile), but that doesn't explain why you let Euforik go before others. What gives?

I remember everyone who came to my event in my time of need and i want to thank you very much for helping me out.... That was ridiculous and im very upset that people did not show up that said they would I AM talking about the following people( NOR did they tell me they could not make it.)

6 NON BLMS

Not to mention like 5-6 blms

Please guys tell me next time you arenot showing up. I am a person u know.... It is common courtesy

I decided to take the names off... thats rude and i wont do that.

Timwakefield you please tell me how i can improve on this post on events scheduling.... please do... because i sent in game tells to most everyone and reminded people here continuously. And it wasnt the occasional person it was roughly 1/3 of the group... Tell me how that is fair

While maybe nice in theory, it does have the potential to be abused (or rather, misused), and doesn't really accomodate circumstances well enough.

It's a pain in the butt when people don't show up on a public run, but that's what it is, a public run. When you join or host it, you need to honestly expect that 4+ people won't show for most events, because to be quite frank, that's quite standard, regardless of how well it is prepared.

If someone is offline, I usually give them the benefit of the doubt. RL happens, it's acceptable to me, even if I am willing to go out of my way to warn and contact people if I can't make it, I know not everyone feels the necessity to.

However, the one thing I can't stand is people who sign up for events, and just don't show. They're online but instead of helping/participating, they decided they wanted to exp, or just sit in town with their flag up, or whatever it might be. Sometimes people even give the excuse "I have Dynamis or such and such event with my LS..." Honestly, that doesn't go over well with me. That's either poor planning, or else huge disrespect by signing up for something and then changing your mind to do something else last minute and leaving the rest out to dry. Leaves a sour taste in my mouth... only those kinds of folks would I ever feel is fair to be listed.

And even then, I'm not sure it'd work in everyones best interests to do it. I've never really seen the "beware of these players" lists ever being very effective or fair at all.

In response to the people upset about many people not showing, if you're willing to forgive one person for missing it, you might as well be willing to forgive 8 people too. Just because more people didn't show doesn't make each individual more guilty. Keep that in mind.

Kyr 8 people missing is quite a bit ^^ while RL tragedies do occur... not wanting to come is another factor in that >.< i will not flame however i do not think it was fair to those that lost xp, to those that lost an orb because blms did not show up like they promised. I mean i had 22 blms agree to come... each getting paid for their duties. and i had 10-12 come from the OP

Don't get me wrong, 8 people missing is quite a bit. It is incredibly likely that most of them didn't miss it due to unforseeable circumstances. I wouldn't dream of arguing that.

I'm just saying, you either have to give people the benefit of the doubt, or assume the worst of all people. There isn't much of an inbetween. I make 99% of the public events I've signed up for, but I have missed one where it was unavoidable (Truck troubles). I would hate to be listed as unreliable for one incident that was out of my control. I won't blame people for not believing me when it happened, because sadly people love to lie and use that excuse all the time.

I just hate the ramifications this has to do to innocent players, when events still get by without it. Even with this list, people will still bail, and unfortunate players who meant well will end up on it. That's what this list has the potential to do. It happens to the best of us, and it's a inevitable result when you implement such a system. I can't say whether it does more good than harm, it really depends on your perspective I guess. I know a lot of folks here would probably love it.

I know the frustration well, most public events I attend end up having difficulties and deaths and unnecessary problems due to this very issue. I've lost much exp, money, and time due to it. However, I still am not sure I'd agree with something like this being used. Just my humbled opinion, thought I'd give a different perspective is all. Not saying I'm right, just some food for thought.

I agree with what you said that there are unforseen circumstances. And the truth is what sets you free.

However when you have People who stand up and say GTFO out the events scheduling forums if you cannot post correctly is that right as well? I did nothing to deserve such a slap in my face... Ask any member that attended today and they will tell you i tried to be as fair as i could, with the unforseen events and untold cancelations that had occured

Id much rather the fucktards read posts before trying to start flames though ^^

I do like this idea. I have encountered this problem many times myself, both while organizing an event myself, or joining one. Yes, sometimes it is the original poster, but a lot of times it's more the people joining.

I could start a sticky in here about it, but I find that it may be a little more of a Flameboard topic. I also feel like people will just start flaming the crap out of someone for not showing up, before they could give a good reason they didn't show up, and by then everyone is being all pissy anyway. Either way, I'll bring it up to the other mods to see what they think, yadda yadda yadda.

Edit: Sending to the suggestions forum so it doesn't get lost in the clutter.

Because...like i said...the EXP static was horribly unorganized. A) You only had five people...B) Someone cancelled the first run before it even started. C) The third night I didnt see ANYONE on that had scheduled, so i assumed it was off.

Find the thread...and dont make me look like an asshole.

Ok but i dont think a "blacklist" of party no-showers is really gonna help your situation. I know it happens, but i guess the only thing to do is try and move on. If you put up an event (Say...AF help for instance) and someone who offers to help has their name on this "list"...are you really not gonna accept their offer to help you?

"Zomg you didnt show up for so-and-so's O-hat run, i dont want you to help me!"

Seems a little childish dont ya think?

I wouldn't say it's a "blacklist". People should have like 2-3 strikes before they are blacklisted. This is only a list for people to keep an eye out. If (name) keeps reappearing then it will be somewhat ideal to turn down (name) for help or deny such a person for an event, unless the said person can prove that it wouldn't happen again.

Saying that, I'd say for some big events from now on, people should, like, place down a "deposit" that is none returnable/returnable to further commitment. Like how people order tickets or pre-orders products, a deposit is placed and will go towards the "final cost" OR returnable upon showing up.
