Has anyone else picked this up yet? I bought my copy today, and I'm impressed so far. It's the same game which had me addictively working on my village almost daily for over a year, but now it's portable... gods help me.

The lack of NES games is a little distressing, but otherwise I'm digging it. I can't wait to get my village up and running so I can start inviting other people to visit. I'm resisting the urge to make a large penis constellation in the sky.

For those of you who have it, which animals are in your town at the start? I have Cesar, Sally and Tank so far.

Sooo, what makes it different from the GC version? I played the hell outta that one, IDK if its worth it to come back if I might play for a weak and think "I've done this all before".

1: its wiLd world... i think...
2: ITS OUT!?! ...thats so not cool, i was going to check today, but then i decided not to...

My GF has this and I have to say I am dissapointed with thier uses of the dual screen. I really can't see the benefit of having the top screen taken up by the moon while I walk around. How bout they toss a map up there, that would make sense, and shouldn't take a genius to figure out...

The big difference from the Gamecube version is the multiplayer aspect. Four people can be running around a single village at any one time. You can trade items directly instead of having to use those clunky codes at Tom Nooks. There are new characters and items, etc.

I played the hell out of the Gamecube version, too. That's why I'm liking this one so much. It's portable, so even if I'm not up for cutting down trees for a few hours I can enjoy it for five-minute sessions here and there.

I like the "Tag Mode" option they've included. It's sorta like "Bark Mode" on Nintendogs. You buy a bottle at Tom Nook's shop and write a message to put in it, then set the DS to "Tag Mode." If you run into someone else using Tag Mode over the course of your day, your bottle washes up on their beach to be discovered later.

Citizen: Skaw
Residence: Arst(My generic make-up town name, use it for everything.)
Fruit: Cherries.

Restarted, hated the layout I was given. Blegh.

Heh. Blaine and Skaw visited my town. It was a lot of fun. Skaw and I ended up fishing and showing off our catches. Then I visited Skaw's town and tried to convince Walker he needed to leave Skaw behind by moving out and coming to live with my people.

The multiplayer angle is implemented better than I expected. A bunch of QCDN people running around at the same time... that would be cool.

Is this game really worth it guys? Lol having second thoughts ... never played the others.. and the whole thing about half the screen being wasted for a sky view isn't helping either with my decision lol. I'll go look at some more screenshots lol

Half the screen isn't really wasted. When you're running around outside and not using the menu, you can see the sky... but at night you have visible stars and can draw your own constellations.... and those constellations can sometimes migrate to other people's villages.

The game is like a giant sandbox with a ton of little things to do. It's very addictive and a lot of fun. Neyla and I played the Gamecube version on a daily basis for over a year, if that tells you anything. Being able to travel from village to village is a lot of fun.

No two villages are alike, since they all have different animal inhabitants. You certainly wouldn't be confined to one place, since a few QCDN people have it.

Give it a shot. :)

Give it a try and you'll probably like it. If you don't... you can always sell it.

*WARNING!!!*
so you guys know, the recycling center in the town hall (the green box thing that looks like a fish skeleton on top) can have items in there from other people and NPCs. infact, i got a telescope today, along with a gyroid!

Did anyone else have an insurance salesman named Lyle show up to sell you a policy? I paid him 3000. I wonder if I get money for being stung by bees or stumbling into pitfalls.

Nook had "a big festive tree" for sale today. It's now in my newly-expanded living room.
