For melee, is peacock charm over rated towards endgame? There are tons of substitutions for it now, such as Chiv. chain and spectacles not to mention all of the different ACC+ items there are now, such as homan, Einherjar ect. and there is a cap as to how much ACC you can have, if I'm not mistaken . . .

Now I know for a RNG, that the +10 really helps the RAcc rather then the MAcc, but that's not the point in this subject!

What it really comes down to is this: You can get higher gains in other slots by substituting ATT/STR for ACC gear than for substituting PCC. (e.g. Sniper's Ring to Flame Ring vice PCC to Chiv. Chain, you get two more STR.)

If you can't afford a PCC yet, then there are other options. When you can afford one, or if you get a lucky Under Observation run, keep it.

there is more accuracy gear availible then we know what to do with. but there is always gear swaping with your maros. :)

Yeah I already have one and do that, but with 2 milz, maybe it'd be a smarter idea to buy different and cheaper gear? ie. Flame rings, dusk equip ect.

If your not having a ACC problem you would be better ditchin it and thrownin a Chiv on and get some more high eng STR gear. Just my 2cents. My WAR was only 61 when i left and i didnt gear my 75mnk. Good luck.

Well it'd really depend on what I was fighting. Right now I have Samurai Warrior and Thief as my melee DD, thief is the only one with ACC problems . . . but I've barely used any of these jobs on any HNM . . . so I wouldn't know what kind of gear I should keep and let go of for them,

Look at it this way: PCC is really good, but it's not nearly as *cost-effective* as some other stuff. Which means that if you can get it without being so broke that you can't get more basic stuff, go right ahead. If getting it would break the bank and leave you unable to get cost-effective stuff, *don't* get it. Get the cost-effective stuff instead, and later save up for and upgrade to a PCC.

Your gear choices should always start with the most cost-effective purchases, and from there go down the list to things that are "better", but less cost-effective. Well I should say, start with the most cost-effective purchases that are worth getting in the first place. You also have to set the bar for just *absolute* usefulness as well, which occasionally means stopping to make money in some way.

Considering the amazing difference that PCC makes starting at lvl 33, really isn't any excuse for anyone that plans to ever level another melee job and already has one at higher levels not to buy one.

pretty much.

the hype come really from the equippable level, not so much so the stats compared to other options at 75.

Quoted from a past thread. Prices have changed slightly, but this justifies the cost of PCC and why it is invaluable.
I was gonna edit the curse words, as this came after a couple pages of banging my head against the wall. Just realize they aren't in reference to you, I left it unedited.

How are you "gimping yourself" for the item not dropping in a BC, that's what I'm not understanding? If it does't drop, you have no control, and thus cannot be gimping yourself.

To use the college example, that's like saying a student who is studying everyday and has gotten a tutor, but still doesn't quite get it is a poor student just because their work hasn't paid off yet.

It's fucking 2M gil. You're GIMPING yourself by not getting it. Christ.

Apparently this is needed. Why PCC blows Specs out of the water:

PCC -- LVL 33 -- Acc+10 RA+10 All Jobs
Specs- LVL 59 -- Acc+7 RA+7 Def 2 MNK WHM RDM THF BST BRD RNG SAM NIN BLU COR

1. Level difference. At lvl 33 there is very little acc gear available. At lvl 59 you have tons of acc gear available. That's 26 levels with 0 acc in that slot.
2. Basic attack build for nin or /nin consists of:Haste>ACC>Attack in general terms. You 'can' hit an acc or haste cap, but for most jobs it is difficult to do. How do you do the most? First equip all haste equip possible within reason. This is only pertinant post 50 as mentioned earlier. The reason Haste is #1? It is a DIRECT increase in damage, as it makes you attack X% faster. There is 0 haste available at any level for the neck. Thus, you make with acc in this slot because there is 10 acc available.
Following so far?
3. Accuracy is a Need, Haste and Att are enhancers.
Waist is the only other slot that has a 10 acc piece available pre B.kote for NIN, which I would place as a slightly tougher get than pcc. So you have to decide for Haste in the Waist or Acc. Haste wins out with Swift or Speed. Rings are the other slot for huge acc, as dual NQ Sniper's can give +10 acc. Hands go to Haste(upper level), Feet to Haste(post50). Legs obviously are Haste with Haidate. Head has the option of Haste or ACC with OH, and 5% is too much to turn down.
So it is possible to make up for the acc in later levels, but you must sacrifice Haste to do so. I would NEVER consider doing this. By limiting the amount of pieces you 'need' acc on, you can place more into the enhancements.
Solid places to fit the needed accuracy:
Hauby(+1) LVL59 -- +10(+12) acc -- Price Difference = 3,340,000
Specs(PCC) LVL59(33) -- +7(+10) acc -- Price Difference = 1,880,000
Sniper's(+1)x2 LVL40 -- +10(+14) acc -- Price Difference = 8,060,000x2

Total == +27(+36)acc

4. Price Difference (Shown Above)
While 3acc isn't a big deal, 9 acc is alot to make up. By solidifying the 'need' in 4 places, you are able to use the rest of equip on enhancements (Haste and attack+). Everything is cumulative in this game, and PCC is the Cheapest way to be closer to the high end. By not taking advantage of this, you are gimping yourself, plain and simple. In fact, you get the most advantage of the upper-tier gear at the lowest price difference.

Macros ftw ^^

Does anyone actually know of a way to store them on the server, so they do not need to be recreated every time you play ffxi on a new machine?

Well, the thing is. At 75 (I've decided to give up on leveling more jobs for a while) I've been debating on what's more important for TP gain, 90%~ish ACC with 5% haste (I know =3= . . . no Haidate yet) or 11% haste with about 70~80% ACC (This isn't referring to HNM).

Accuracy is a need, Haste and Attack are beneficiaries. You'll see more immediate gain most likely by choosing a cheaper neck piece and using the gil on haste equip, but long term there is no substitute (besides gorgets) for the 10 Acc in the neck slot.

Shit =3= after debating with myself to actually keep the PCC, I run to the AH to take it off and guess what. It sold .__. . . .

be optimistic: money is money.

It's the best piece of armor for the slot and you'd be better off keeping it. At level 33, it's basically more accuracy in that one slot than all of your entire gear combined and even at level 75, it comprises about a quarter to a fifth of your entire accuracy in gear excluding dexterity. That's huge no matter how you look at it. The price is a little steep, but it is a rather rare drop although farely common to see these days.

I don't expect everyone to have it though, even at level 75. However, I would expect most would work towards earning one somehow as it is the best piece you can get for that slot. Given current market prices, it's probably the only piece worth buying over 1 mil anyways and everything else is down right cheap. There are also a lot more rare/ex gear choices these days as well which save you from spending gil although you will spend a lot of time farming that item or points towards that item instead of gil direcly.

And you could always get yourself a FREE PCA

word, for the mere pennies that is obtaining a ToD, counter-camping, and your soul due to its shitty drop rate :D
