Another reputation question..

Is it supposed to say that "You need to spread some reputation around before you give it to this person again"? It's been saying that for people I've repped a week ago and now I can't.

Is this normal? xD Oh also it said I couldn't rep a person because i needed to rep other people and I don't recall repping this particular person before o.o

I'm not 100% familiar with the intricacies of the rep system but I dont think there is a time limit on when you rep someone - I think it checks to see if you simply repped them too many times in a row. There should be rep circles going on, join in and spread the love!

I'm having the same problem, I haven't been able to rep someone a second time because of that message.

It's a good setup. It prevents someone from from making sock puppets and manipulating the system.

Example:

Person A doesn't like Person B, so Person A finds every post person B made and rates them all down.

or

Drama Queen Q loves Emo King X and proceeds to rate up all of his posts, giving him 40 billion green dots.

You've gotta crawl up the ladder like the rest of us. I just recently hit 2 green dots. It's easy when you participate in a rate up circle jerk. Doing it legitely grants a better sense of achievement.

Kinda has me wondering .. Is it rep to certain people over a certain time period? or do we just only have a certain ammount we can dole out over time? 'Cos there's some people i haven't repped in a minute that it's telling me i still can't -.-

I haven't figured out the mechanics of it yet either. It seems very... exponentially knowledgeable and versatile.

Finding the actual equation for this won't be easy, and we'll have to fit in a "how high you can jump/how high the roof is" analogy somewhere.

QCDN users who have not been on the site for over a year will not have their reps names given when they check their user CP, and they will also not add or subtract any points when they rep someone up or down, simply a grey dot is given instead of a red or green.

Also, I've noticed that people with more posts give increasingly more points then others. For example, I got someone with 8000+ posts to rep me...my points jumped up 12 points. While I had someone who has 100+ rep me, and it was barely 2.

Ah that explains it. I've had two -rep's that were marked as -rep but showed up as gray. So I guess if someone is below a certain rep rating, their -rep and +rep comments have no effect on the target's overall rating?
