Anti-Auction House

Ok, as I have said before, Im from Hades server and I have a tactic for high prices that seemed to work for me. This will net you quite a bit of gil while helping other people save theirs from the AH. If you want to put in the extra work, go to the AH and research the prices of all the equipment you plan to sell.
---

First off, you will need as much equipment as you can for a variety of levels. I recommend gobby bags to make life simpler.

Go to Jueno and /shout or /say that you are offering Armor and Weapon upgrades for a small fee. This fee should be about half the price of the item at AH. So, they give you their old armor, and half the total cost. You give them the armor for their next level. Now you have two options:

1) Use the armor you have just aquired to sell to other people
2) Sell the newly aquired armor at the AH for full price. By the end, you are up 150% of what that armor origonally cost. (100% from AH, 50% from the previous owner). This should offset the amount you lose from trading higher level armor.

Just continue to do this until you get bored, or you can afford the item you want. If word gets around, you can practically open up your own "shop" right there in Jueno. (It does get tiresome though lol.)

The only drawbacks to this plan are that it usually only works for higher level'd gear (25+) because cheap gear is just that, cheap. You also have to either start with a considerable amount of gear, or buy it yourself, and re-sell it, waiting for the buisiness to offset your losses. Also, you can only do one trade transaction at a time, so if you have alot of customers, it can get rather irksome.

All in all, it worked really well. I had some high level players make some considerable donations to the cause and it seemed to help alot. We ended up making a linkshell called "TheMerchants" and we went to each nation doing this. It worked best in Jeuno though. Try it and see. Because from as far as I know, inflation went down ever so slightly because people were getting their armor "under the table" style and the AH wasnt getting the attention it needed to support high prices.

The people who did end up selling for high amounts lowered them because nobody was buying. Eventually, prices dropped so far enough, that it was almost im-profitable for us to continue. Thus we closed up shop, and went on our way until the prices soar again.

Try it on Quez. If just me and about 20 LS friends could do that much, imagine what you all could do if you pooled together. You could make your own AH I daresay.

I don't get it.

By upgrades you mean when the person outlevels their gear and you offer them gear of the appropriate level at 50% of the cost along with their old gear?

Yes this sounds good for me when I get to the point of having to fork out for Eisen/Kampf gear :). It's a good idea and it seems to of worked on your server. At the moment i'm selling my armour (I kept it from war) to buy new stuff, this could help a bit :)

Ok, you get me a SH I'll give you the power gi I was wearing and half the cost of a SH.

SHs don't come from any of those.

Yes, this is what jeuno is missing! We need people shout selling lowbie crap too! It's not enough that people are too cheap to AH list their expensive stuff, and too impatient to bazaar it, let's shout sell everything!

Another problem is you really suck out the custom feel to different equip setups and not many jobs do full upgrades at level sets, piece here, piece there. You could never have the variety that they could get on the AH.

But if you can't really afford what you need at the auction house, youd rather take what you can get.

WOW way to shoot for the stars!

The sarcasm is so charming.

Regardless of your insignificant opinions, this has worked very well. Tested, proven, case closed.

You wanna be an ass? Take it to the flameboard.

"I hate to do this but I'm as curious as I am not a fan of your kind. You mention in your scam thread, http://www.qcdn.org/showthread.php?t=25541, you are from the Hades server."

Scam? Hardley. Quite the opposite actually. If you had the oppertunity to trade your old armor for the next level up, and only had to pay half the cost of the new armor, wouldnt you? I see in no way how that is a scam.

Just incase it wasn't obvious and someone doesn't somehow notice the obvious:

It would not be worth doing if it weren't profitable to the person starting this. Therefor, one can deduce that it is in a player's best intrest to sell their own stuff. If I trade you a set of armor worth 200k, for a set of armor worth 200k, then pay you 100k, you just made 100k off me. Why would I pay you 50% of my armor's value to AH it, when AH fees are so much less?

Seriously, who would be in such a rush they would pay a 50% penalty rather then AH their shit themselves?

In all seriousness this is a scam. Tested, proven, case closed.

Wanna be an ass and try to scam people? Take it back to Hades.

Well if you can't afford the upgrade without selling your own gear and you don't want to wait to sell your present gear and do nothing while waiting for it to sell this isn't a bad system for the buyer. It's basically saying he's giving the buyer an instant sale for his own lower level gear and an instant upgrade that he's sure to get. Unlike the possibility of selling your previous gear and then finding the upgrade is out of stock or the price has risen.

He is in a way providing a service, one which if you don't find valuable because you are a wealthy player and can buy 100 sets of lowby gear and throw it away without blinking, then don't worry about it. I'm sure some people will find it a fair offer. What he's selling is time.
