Anyone hosting an update download?

BG crashed so cant get on there to see if there is a hosting of the download somewhere. Anyone hosting it by chance? I know Georgi/Ramp typically does.
 
yeah aikar has one up (dev from windower), it's smaller as well as the pol download due to use compression/patching diffs instead of downloading whole dats.

For me the update went pretty smooth via playOnline for a change - too bad they decided to extent by 2 hours :p
 
I've only ever downloaded updates through POL. How does it work if you download the version that someone is hosting?
 
it extracts into your directory same as the playonline installer, then you have a 30k+ file check when you log in, and it gives you the OK.
 
The only downside, by doing the full file check, you will loose your custom dat modifications.
 
Pretty much its 10x faster. I used Geogi's last time ;p

Well, since they aren't using some of your subscription fees to beef up security, why not demand they better their file delivery system?
 
Is there anything else special that you have to do? I ran the install from the link and it OK'd me after the check. Once FFXI launches though, it goes through it's status bar and then says that the game has been updated and to go back to POL and check my version. Did I do something wrong with the update, or is FFXI just acting up currently?

Maybe we have to wait untill all the new NMs are claimed? :biggrin:

Oh no, i hope it is not a problem like another update. That one messed up all the files so people had to reinstall FFXI from scratch. Ouch!
