Now..I only ask this question because of botters, because on my last game bots were made 'legal' but the devs added certen monsters ect to stop absent botting e.g. fishing for 8+ hours while you sleep or constant absent farming.

I know in fishing that in some areas ect that u can fish up monsters, but, most of these botters are high or highish lvl so lets say a mob fish on White Bone Sands in the Dunes wouldnt even phase them. but what about something like mining up a Earth elemntal when mining which auto agro's or some kind agro from earth elementals due to mining..and some kind ok damage if a synth fails..like 5% of your max hp..now i know that this could make life harder for the 'honest hard working' majoraty..but it is a thought.

What u guys think..will this stop the bad botters?

I hope so...

Yes, they are illegal, and about that...hmm...

I think it won't phase them either, they will probably set the bot up to when they receive aggro that they attack it and kill it, and rest after the battle..but I am not too sure, because I've never used a bot, and never will, and I don't know how well the bots are...

By doing that will only hurt the honest player more than the botters. Think about it: Botters don't spend any time in front of their computer, they lose virtually nothing except maybe fewer items. Where as honest player will be wasting even more of their time to aquire the same item. So at the end? Maybe even the honest players will become a botter.

How ever harder you make things on cheaters the effect will be even more pronounced on the legit player. All you would accomplish is pushing more legit fishers to botting. If you nerf the catches then people are going to have to invest more time to get the previous results. Hense more people botting just to maintain what has already been set as status quo. If you increase the difficulty of the monsters pulled up then you are hurting the lower lvl fishers but keeping them stuck in areas that they can't get any skill-ups. I don't condone botting but I have yet to hear of a solution that won't also punish the innocent. So far all the ideas I've heard have been to make fishing so unbenificial that nobody would bother doing it.

you're allowed to macro if you are tending to it. somewhere in the rules and somewhere on this forum it's been said that you are allowed to do such things as long as you can give a response if you were to be hailed by a gm.

Not sure if we have really said that anywhere on this forum ...
Basicaly it comes down to this, the use of 3rd party programs for the purpose of enhancing FFXI is against the License Agreement. Is there anything they can do if you decide to break the License Agreement? Maybe, but bot armies prove the point that most everyone get's away with it just fine.
