This isn't a portable

I dont know why I put down portable... lol, I was thinking of the new gameboy ds lite which my sister lent me. I feel like a dumbass now.

Release date has been set for November 19, btw. Yes, that's a sunday. I know. That's the info given to me by Gamestop.com's e-mail.

It's definitely the next console on my wish list, after a DS Lite. I wouldn't be surprised at all, if by some impulse, I happened to own one on launch day. Then again, I've got a very large pile of games for the Gamecube and PS2 piled up that I haven't even opened yet, and I'd feel just plain materialistic and wasteful if I didn't at least play those before splurging on a new system.

I'll definitely get one at some point, though.

I would if Nintendo made good RPG games, but they don't so I probably won't be buying one.

Uh, do you mean "Made by Nintendo" or "Made for Nintedno", cause Super Nintendo was an RPG playing juggernaut way back in the day so idk where your comming from there.

What RPGs didnt you like for the old Nintendo systems?

Yeah, seriously ... some big lack of understanding here.

The actual manufacturers of the various consoles make almost NONE of the actual games for their respective systems. Rather, the vast, vast majority of them are all made by third parties. That's why you can have Squaresoft releasing titles on Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft consoles at the same time.

In point of fact, if native creative franchises are your big beef, Nintendo actually has MORE of them than any other, with far more of them being actually good. To go even further, actual Nintendo-owned creations can actually boast of far more truly legendary series than can anything else: Zelda, Mario, Metroid, and Star Fox, just to name a few.

So, are you talking about how many RPGs the third-party developers choose to make for Nintendo consoles? As to that, I can admit that the Nintendo 64 got the short end of the stick, but the Gamecube's lineup was nothing to spit at ... and the Super Nintendo and NES were the frickin' GODFATHERS of the entire RPG genre (in the video game industry), laying the groundwork and framing for everything else that followed. The first half of the series (and, many will argue, the better half) of the video game this message board is devoted to was all published by Nintendo. Nintendo NURTURED this genre.

I don't mean to offend, but I smell someone whose first taste of Final Fantasy-type RPGing came from the Playstation era.

Nintendo RPGs > everything else, and I suspect that the Wii will drive that point home once again.

Extremly well said Wink. It depends what generation a person comes from to judge really. I was born in 89, so I was an Snes and Ps1 + guy. So I don't know THAT much about NES, but i do have the roms for it. Although, I JUST discoverd Secrets of Mana, and Earthbound. I heard those are godly and Hall of Fame games that i gotta find and get into.

Maybe you fags are misunderstanding Kink and she just wants more Mother games. Which were made by Nintendo.

But yeah, without the SNES, the only RPG franchise that would have made it big would be Phantasy Star, seeing as it's Sega's own homegrown franchise.

P.S. First line is a joke, if you take it seriously, take a good look at my second sentence.

I prolly will, dunno when though D: and why not just a section for all three new gen systems? Wii is popular but not enough for a whole forum section on its own I'd think

Well, there hasn't been a ton of Xbox360 threads except posting gamertags. PS3 threads have been mostly nonexistant, except for pointing out critical marketing flaws.

Where as over the last few months, a bunch of Wii Threads have been popping up. Plus with Lanien being a Nintendo Rep, posting a bunch of technical stuff. It makes sense that the other two consoles aren't represented. Making and moderating two other forums that'd get rare use doesn't sound like a constructive use of time.

Really though, this should be the DS/Wii forum.

hmm.. good point.. just make it a nintendo in general forum :P

Voted maybe, because I'm gonna be waiting a few months to see how all the consoles do and stuff ;x

I personally am going to wait on the Wii until atleast the first price drop, whenever that happens, before I buy one.

I'll probably get it close to launch. Probably get that rather than the ps3 that I was orginally going to get. But theres so few and money is tight. I'm splitting Wii with my brother so its going to be pretty cheap on both our ends. ps3 can wait. I'll get it eventually.

Plus rpg players tend to be meeger and meek, which fits nintendo to a T.

Nintendo is the bumper sticker that says "my kid is an honor roll student at some school"

xbox is the one that says "my kid got your honor roll student pregnant at some school"

ps is the one that says "my kid beat your honor roll student up at some school."

Nintendo has somewhat of a cult following, while sony and xbox fans are strictly after the best games around. They would easily jump ship to nintendo if they stepped their library up.

I'm practically pitching a tent thinking about getting this system, can't say I was too pleased with a 360, hopefully the Wii will deliver.

If all else fails, I'll have Smash Bros. Brawl to fall back on ^^
