Are you racist for abbreviating words?

Ugh Mire you're exhausting me.

Yes it's context but not in ALL cases. Some are derogatory and racist period, whether said in such a way to insult or upset someone or not. Others are not taken in such a way, again it doesn't* CHANGE the fact that they ARE derogatory.

Yes everyone is profiled, that was besides the point. You threw it out there they they are NOT profiled 'racially' when that is correct because they are not their own RACE but they ARE a PEOPLE. I guess in our own way that is a race..

I can't do this anymore with you though.

*** I don't like arguing with you ; ; I am for all intensive purposes a Newfie myself.. and my sister has gotten very mad (once that I've seen in ten years) when someone called her a Newfie, and I remember exactly why, it was another woman and it was the way she hinted at it. Myrna just about attacked her, but it's because we picked up on the way she meant it to be taken.

I don't like arguing with you either honey.

I'm just saying that different terms are different degrees. N**ger is offensive because it is a term associated with Africans that does not have anything to do with their race. It means uneducated and ignorant. Anyone can technically be called a N**ger. it is disgusting that it was used in relation to a specific race.

Jap is a shortened term for Japanese. It is part of their actual country name. Newf-- is part of the province name. I don't even know why people would use it as an insult (yes, I know that they do). But if you find a shortened form of your country/province/state etc. insulting when people call you it, why do you live there? Someone calls you a stupid Newfie? Call them stupid for generalizing. I don't even know why they are referred to as stupid. Is one person to blame for this? lol.

It's not that I don't agree with you, I do. It is stupid and you're right that a shortened form of someone's state/province/country shouldn't be insulting, it's just that I was raised to believe that specifically 'Newfie' was a form of insult. They call us 'Mainlanders', and it's not that we aren't but it's their way at taking a stab at us, as silly as it is >.>

The degree of insult varies quite a bit indeed, and it depends on the person. N**ger doesn't really even come into play though as it's not an abbreviation by any means. It's is unfortunately viewed and used majority of the time towards one race of people.

/ticklefight?

(I was called an Islander growing up, I thought it was cool >.>)

<3 you still girl

I don't mind being called a Mainlander, but it's said with a light heart so it's can't really be taken as a real insult =)

Trust me that was my name while I was down east, 'oh dis is Braaads mainlander eh byi' and so on..lol

Newfies, Brits, Yanks, Thais, Pakis, Scots, Slavs, Arabs, Aussies, Bajan, Canucks, Ticos, Belongers, Hongers, Kiwis, Flip/Pinoy, etc etc.

Honestly, I can't see how people can be offended by being called any of the above (or by ones I didn't list). It is NOT racist. If anything, it'd be nationist -- or something like that (if that's not a word, dibs on trademarking it). It's not like a person is really trying to insult you. It's a short way of saying where you live/where you're from/what your ancestry is. It's not like you're being called racial slurs. I think some people just need to grow some thicker skin, jesus.

I think Eleib sounds very angry.

Your word is starred out but I can guess what it is, the word c***k is likened to n**ger, it is not a short form. I believe Eli just means a shorter or easier to say term.

A two syllable word (Canuck) is generally easier and quicker to say than a four syllable word (Canadian). And yeah, what Mire said.

It is also an aboriginal term, Kanuck, like Kanata. I only hate being referred to as a Canuck because I hate hockey and that's what it reminds me of lol.

3 Jews walk into a bar. One says to the other.
"What do you want to drink you fucking Nig**r?"
The other jew says
"None of that Ch**k shit. I may be a cheap jew but that stuff is too cheap for my blood"
They look at the third jew and say.
"What do you want?"
"I don't know man, I just killed my dirty mexican house cleaner. I just need a beer"

The end.

Wtf man, why you hating on Jewish peoples? You could have used the Welsh for that!
