Hey, if anyone can keep me posted on the known spawn times of Argus and/or Leech King I would greatly appreciate it. Just post it here. ^^ Thank you for listening (please post in EST or PST, thanks)

lol, GL trying to get him. i've attempted to camp argus just to try and figure out his spawn range, but... i got things to do and i can't sit there for a good 24ish hours figuring out his spawn range. however, those that already have control on his spawn time makes it hard to get him anyway.

you know its not really worth going there unless you have a voke bot.
i attempted to camp him after the last server reset. there were at least 3 people there using a script.
so unless you do the same you really cant compete.

Actually, Argus is a 12 - 36 hour spawn. So is the Leech King. To this day, I've seen Leech King spawn once and Argus spawn twice. This is why it is considered a great feat (well used to be) to be able to see him spawn. Actually claiming him is a different story. Furthemore, actually getting the drop is even more rare. I know many people have started taking advantage of server resets, but I for one camped him the old fashioned way. I was the first NA on our server to get it and yes, I fell asleep many many times. I'll not have the patience to camp him ever again, especially with advent of the botters out there. The last time I did it, a monk Chi-Blasted his way to claim beating me and my lowly BLM stun.

As for the actual spawn time, there is no way to truly find out unless you happen to see him die yourself. After his death, check 12 hours later. Anywhere from that time to 24 hours later, he will spawn again. This is why even if you *do* know the time of death on him, you'll not see him again unless you stay in that room. If you're extremely lucky, you can get him twice in 1 day (if he spawns).

Even with the time of death... this just ain't worth it. Everyone and their mother just leaves a voke bot running and they hope they'll come back from a week vacation or something to find a peacock charm (or four) in their inventory. Some people might try and pull off a long term camp on him, just as a thing to do, but after that? Highly doubt it.

It's a nice item and all but not really worth as much as it goes for IMHO. Many other awesome neck items one can use for about 6mil cheaper.

I need to camp this guy....I think it's the only way I'll ever get a scorp harness (I would kill my own mother to get one, or just for the sake of killing her =P). 12-24 spawn time is terrbile with no voke bot...orz

Svina: I agree. Back when I did it, voke bots were non-existant. Thus when I pulled him, I got him fair and square. When the Peacock Charm dropped, I shit in my pants. As for whether or not it is "worth it", that's debatable. Just as debatable as Slacker's Thief Knife. The reason they are worth that much more is the rarity. Yes other items can provide near similar stats, but because you can only get that item in 1 spot and it's a rare drop and you have to compete for it makes the price inflate incredibly. This is the same reason why HQ crafts go for an insane amount. When you kill Argus, it is very likely that his Charm won't drop. Just as it is hard to get the Kraken Club from LOO.

Devi: Correction, 12-36 hours. ;) Here's a tip. When you absolutely have nothing you want to do, leave FFXI running in the Maze. Stand at Argus spawn, go AFK or something. Just leave it running. Turn up the volume on your PC really loud. Eventually, Argus will spawn and you will hear someone voke and fight him. Check often and then you'll have his spawn time. So say he dies at 3:30 PM. Come back 3:30 AM and start camping from there. You have until 3:30 AM the next day to get him. I know it's long and it sounds impossible, but at least knowing the time he spawns will help than blindly going in there and spamming your macro over and over for hours on end.

Good Idea....Cause at this point it's Argus or solo Serket (hahahhahaha) I may look into that. Not sure if I even want to camp him. I may just have to bust emp's ass a billion times.

Devi: I think the time you spend on Argus could get you at least 5+ hairpins from Emp. The hairpins are worth quite a bit now. The problem is, would you rather wait a day of not sleeping over a drop that may not happen (or a pull you may not get) or would you rather waste a day on 5 chances on a hairpin that you may successfully pull.

That's the question you should ask yourself. I asked myself the same question after I got the Peacock Charm on the first try. I decided no, it isn't worth *my* time to do it again even though I got it. I may not get it on the 2nd try and I'll have wasted tons of my personal time waiting for another spawn. I would personally choose Emp, because his spawn range is huge so that reduces the chances of botters to outpull you. This is why I do not camp the Kote in Oztroja. It takes 0 effort to have a bot to spam, but it takes effort if you have to actively look for the enemy.

Just my 2 cents. If you do choose Argus, best of luck to you. He's a bitch but the money is nice. The Charm is now at 7 million (I sold mine for 5 million).

=P I have good luck with Emp, but the only problem is i sport one to exp , so i guess i'd have to send it to my mule. For emp i think i'm 3/5. Which isn't bad, 2 drops before I got TH2. I"m just seriouly lusting after that scorp harness

Well yeah...that's not to discourage you from trying. For every pop SOMEONE will get it...the thing is you may spend more time just trying to claim him when you could be making less money more frequently and more guaranteed another way. OR you could get lucky and nab him (see the Good Times forum, some honest players apparently got him and the drop :D)

lol i'm am discouraged...

/goodbye -> scorp harness

/cry

I'm not discouraging you either. If you have the patience to sit there for that long, more credit to you. I know some people who can't even wait for a pop-tart to pop out a toaster. With that kind of patience, it should surely show the kind of person you are. And if you get the drop? More power to you! :)

I have friend that bot him...I'm sure they could make me one, but I dont wanna really use a bot, it's not fair, even if everyone else uses em.

::walks to the dunes::

here empy empy empy...i've got a dagger with your name on it

I feel your pain still...camping NMs and me... ew god no... and farming is just a subtle step above that. I don't have the patience.

But I'll tell you one thing. If you put the effort into it, you'll get results. Example: As much as I hate camping NMs, I enjoy camping Aquarius in Boyahda. Reason being? Well originally I just wanted to slap him for bragging rights as a SMN solo'ing (as I'd heard SMN can solo him before...so I thought why not try?)... well at FIRST of course thats all it was...just the idea of beating this difficult NM (difficult to solo anyhow...for most jobs).

First time I beat him myself I was so proud...and I knew he dropped a valuable cloth. Also over time I noticed he wasn't heavily camped... and he had a shorter spawn time (though it's a lotto). I just camped him because I knew I could win, and could claim too.

Over that much time he's dropped me about 10 cloths now. That's out of some 25 kills (to this date since the patch). Just goes to show, even if theres something in the game you loathe, camping, crafting, whatev... you may find your place in it, and it may solve your gil problems for good :)...dont' be afraid to try anything once.

I agree with Svina. Try it at least once to see if you like it. As for Aquarius, Svina always steals from me. J/k. Everytime I've went, some BST already has him and I have a general rule that I won't steal until the puller dies.

Btw Svina, fix your sig. Your WHM is both your main & your subjob? Neato!
