Around the world in 20 Crabs, the journey of a retard

I have some friends who never fully decided what job they wanted to be and are purely social unassociated players and had never seen Fafnir, Behemoth, Aspid, Simurgh, KA, etc. I'd just bring them for fun to give them the experience.

This isn't uncommon; I've gone to a KB camp once just to dick around. I didn't join any parties, just stuck around until he spawned (it was KB btw), took pix, and died on his second Meteor.

It was fun :-)

Sucks that this happened MJ/evanos/et al.

When King windows are open, I really frown on this. Movement and claiming are tough enough with everyone who is their to claim / fight the HNM, let alone others there just to watch.

On lesser HNMs sure, but if you're clogging up a zone where there's already over 100 people, I'm really against showing up to watch and take pics.

That's fine and all, but in all likelihood where I won't be seen there in action for a good long while, I'll place that sentiment in with those who frown on anyone lower than lv75 in a Besieged because they're "wasting space".

Its not the same by any stretch of the imagination. You can't liken two things of which you've only participated in one.

To me, there isn't much difference in me being level 64 in Besieged, and whiffing away at Medusa with my scythe, than there is in me being level 64 at King Behemoth, not being in a party, talking to my friends who are in many different LSes, and taking pix and generally watching everyone's remarkably different take on camping him.

But like I say, perspective is key in all things.

A death caused by lag in besieged isn't near as consequential as a death caused by un-needed lag on a King HNM. You haven't had to deal with these circumstances by any stretch of the imagination, so everything I'm saying is going over your head. Why you people argue about the unknown without first-hand knowledge is beyond me.

Just posting again to say that Jamal's sig is awesome and it took me probably 3 minutes to make that.

So what you're saying is that, regardless of the fact that I can easily access the zone he's in, and can travel there at any time, I don't have the right to do so, just because I want to watch?

That's beyond me. If I went up to him, stunned him and outclaimed the 100+ people sitting there, then yeah, I could understand any kind of frustration you'd have.

But since Kings are serious business, I'll be sure to stay away from Behemoth's Dominion, Dragon's Aery, and the Valley of Sorrows for a long time to come. It's not worth raising my blood pressure over.

You have the right to do so, I can't stop you. You'd piss off every serious shell in attendance by doing it though. HNM king camping is not like anything else in this game, its a job, and yes, it is serious business. Why else would people throw away 3 hours a day for years upon years to do it.

If you fuck around there, you show how noob you are. This is why I enjoyed it so much, because its the closest you could come to escaping the nubs. You don't become a veteran camper overnight, but you do realize there's a time and place to fuck around, but day 8 Nidhogg is neither the time nor the place.

So yes, stay away from those zones if you do a /sea and there's a large group there. I don't camp anymore, but I know I'm not the only one to share these sentiments.

Anyway, back on topic.

Mara's Observations are more than likely accurate. Some random lvl 54 WAR who just so happens to claim, not even with a temp-pearl (which Shells will use for those 'helping' in the fight) is more than likely setup to be a voke-bot.

Irony is that I stood next to Evanos during most of the event and was holding a good convo with him.

But far be it for me to piss off any serious shell in attendance.

On-topic: again, sorry this BS happened to you MJ and evanos. You definitely deserve better.

OH MAN YOU OWNED ME.

Seriously, take your smug attitude and gtfo. One instance of One person showing up to One camp does not make irony. That's not fucking irony, that's called stretching to prove your point.

You gave 0 details, 0 clues on which king day it is, AND obviously know the person attending the camp. I wouldn't shit on a one-time potential recruit either, but I'd in no way encourage them to attend. Please respond to the whole fucking post, not just one sentence. You nitpickers piss me off so much.

just curious on your thoughts of other people/ls' showing up at popped mobs such as JoL if they are not contributing.

I wasn't attempting to own you. I don't have a smug attitude; far from it to be frank.

And what details? What clues? This isn't nitpicking, it's disagreeing with your stance. I ran a random /sea BehemotDom, saw a bunch of people, said "hey, I've never seen a behemoth and likely won't, this'll make for some good pictures", packed up and went. I stayed around for like....five minutes after he spawned.

I died, and didn't even wait for a Raise. I took a short series of pictures, homepointed, and went along my way.

Sorry I pissed you off, and apologize for likely continuing to piss you off. I wasn't looking for a fight, I disagreed with your view that "you shouldn't go to an area to see something cool because you can't do anything for it", and this whole shit-sling began.

Cheers.

I didn't complain when people showed at our first Vrtra to watch, it was a big accomplishment. If its a manageable number within reason its fine. My point was its impossible for any non-bot to claim when lag is beyond control.

Fighting a King HNM under additional lag is ridiculous, which is why most new shells are frowned upon until they can establish themselves, especially in the fafnir scene.

This just in: BoondockSaints are the joke of every endgame zone they go to.

Oh wait...whats this, this newspaper is from November 06, 2006.

A death caused by lag in besieged isn't near as consequential as a death caused by un-needed lag on a King HNM.

In a zone with 100+ people in it on a guaranteed KB/Nid/Aspid day, if the lag of one more person is what caused the wipe, then chances are you wouldn't have won anyway.

One person was the example given, but not the real cases that occur. If you let one in, that one person may bring a friend the next time, who may each bring a friend the next time, etc.

The only way to stop this is to cut the head off the snake.

Jamal's point is valid. Its a slippery slope. It may not be one person who causes the extra lag, but its combined people who don't deserve to be there really, because 1) they're not contributing to the camp in anyway and 2) you can look at pictures on the internet and if you're there just to take pictures that's all you're going to be doing anyway

The game has a maximum model load limit at all times, you can adjust that range in your configuration, this will help your computer lag a little but not much as the models are still processed. Only reason for lag would be your computer not internet side 70% of the time. Cause the server only transmits a max amount of peoples positions until more come in a range, as more people come in your range farther ones out begin to disappear based on priority(Party is of high priority so there always appear to be first to load). Monsters are not on the same system. They hold a priority over all things. They might disappear but the name still remains floating in the air. You can still target them. The only reason why you ever lag horribly in a HNM camp is people moving or doing actions like casting spells. Large amount of people moving makes the server have to resend all the cords your moving at. The Server doesn't tell every time you every waking second you move either. It puts you in a direction with the speed your moving and other clients side computers get that information and calculate your movement. The movements based on a range of movement. When your not moving you transmit your position back to the server every 3-5 seconds or so. When you start to move that takes priority and it instantly sends to the server your moving in which direction, called a coordinate direction correction and rate of movement. It then updates every .5 secs as your moving, thats why turns seem so accurate at times. This would cause lag over the internet if 30+ people do it. You have noticed in Besieged that the mobs have a priority over all other users, even the NPCs are lower then the enemies. So saying 100+ people in a zone lags you from getting a HNMs bullshit for the most part at the moment.

When you place a filter its saved server side. Turn on all your filters and your connection between the server and you will increase, lower your draw distance to reduce your crappy computers process speed for drawing, turn off weather effects, foot effects, characters displayed(anything below 50% will allow monster models to vanish but can still be targeted).

I don't lag in jeuno/white gate near the AH cause i know how to optimize my computer with filters and models and such. I stay in under 600R when running past jeuno. Only reason i am that high is because i'm moving causing a constant input from the server of more characters coming and leaving my screen. When standing still i stay with under 300-450 constant, 500 for a second when a person runs by.

Now your question is why do i lag at these HNM camps? Its the claimers. Even when your claim command doesn't go off, you send a command to the server for the attempt. That clogs the pipeline on the server end slowing things down. When like 7 linkshells in a camp have everyone trying to claim what do you thinks going to happen with 50+ trying to claim at the same time. SE has stated theres a pipeline limit for the server and many users trying to do things all at once will lag it down. There was talks to increase it but it would leave 56k users out in the rain.

Now, 50+ people attempting to claim at the same time. Plus the animations for the casting and JAs all going off if a entire linkshell gets it, plus the models and people moving into your range cause the Kings up all together does what to the server? Crams a broomstick up its ass of lag. So before you think its random people take note its not the big problem. Yes they don't really help. But the major problem is your all cluster fucking the server with commands at the same time.

Take note the receive on your screen the next time a king starts to load, it sky rockets, half the time thats the reason i am able to know a windows open cause 20+ bots are spamming the command at all times, or when the bots will get it cause the receive sky rockets from the bots getting a claim on the mob.

In the closing statement. Adjust your computer to lessen the pain. We all don't care if your Epeen computer can run with all the settings, if more or less its not a alien then its gonna suck at a HNM camp. Turn on ALL your filters to stop lag. Tell your LS to shut the fuck up in linkshell chat, tell your party the same cause every little bit counts. Find some way to stop 50+ plus people from trying to claim at the same time causing pipeline lag, THEN tell the people watching in the zone to get the fuck out if your still having lag.
