Assault earring being jacked up

After reading through this thread, it would appear that most people are merely passing this off as a simple 'temporary price increase'. However, as several have put it, this is not just temporary. This is something they are doing to permanently hurt the economy. In the long run, this and more of what they do will end up destroying the game that we all (hopefully) enjoy (to a decent degree).
Gatttsu, the quote from the Special Task Force is greatly appreciated. Perhaps would anyone be willing to help look through the FFXIAH and find the perpetrators? I've already done a little looking (see earlier post). Maybe with a little help, we can end this.. perhaps not immediately, but steadily.. and eventually, permanently.

After seeing the small list, I did some nosing around cross-referenced the list, there were about 3-5 more than previously listed in this thread, I had to look for a good reason to report them, and found what I'd quoted earlier. I'll look for the full list I came up with in a minute. They're all selling/buying the same stuff, it's very obvious when you look at all the histories, even the STF cannot overlook such a blatant attempt at artificial inflation, and that's what I reported them for, abusing the AH and trying to create false inflation.

If I may.. false inflation to cause two effects:
1.) Obtain gil to fuel RMT activities
2.) Drive players to possibly purchase gil to promote RMT activities
Later tonight, when I get home from work, I may end up coming onto XI to send a report as well. Perhaps having several people report the findings would indeed send a red flag waving in front of SE. Perhaps you would be kind enough to share your findings as well, beyond what was already listed?

You'll see that it's not people being stupid with their money, in a general sense.
From the looks of it, RMT are trying to push up the prices of various high-demand items in an attempt to gain money.

And thats why people are being stupid with their money. If they didn't buy at the increased prices, the RMT would fall flat with overstock. The only reason RMT even try to hoard and sell at boosted cost is because they know morons will fall right in to their traps.

WOOSH, over your head.

Working on the list now, just gonna be a bit delayed, some legit player names come up during the hunt, but these dingbats are pretty easy to spot vs. a regular player's selling/buying habits. The report to STF feature is actually on the POL site, and can be found in a little link in the report I linked to earlier, I'm not aware of any report to STF feature in game.

On a related note: I know there are more items they're doing this to with other characters, this reasearch will only go so far through this group, if anyone is seeing the same pattern in other items, bring it up now so that we all might compile/confirm a list for people to start filing reports on, if we take a proactive approach to this and do it SE's way, we might be able to really put the hurt on the RMT clowns more than any MPK could ever do. Vigilante justice(MPK) only hurts their exp, you can't exp grind back lost profits.

Help eliminate the RMT population, remember to have your RMT spayed/neutered (banned).

Every key/ID purchased to replace a banned character is lost profits to them, they will lose this war if we keep them from making any real money. War was never won in a day, it takes time, as does any worthwhile battle.

I called a GM on the matter, because they're buying up the flame rings, penitent's ropes, fuma sune-ate(the item I wanted), Assault earrings, Merman's earrings, Sniper's, woodsman... Go check the lists, it's all the same group. Don't let them take advantage of us! D: revolt! Hold out on buying stuff until they drop it back down in their own.

Edit: The GM said that they don't patrol the economy, so I would have to submit a report to the Special lolTask Force... so I did. Oh well, it's up to us to stop the RMT it seems. Let the MPK begin.

Oh god. I truely hope you were joking when you wrote this. Maybe a good 10% of the server read this forum. And you think people will just stop buying shit becuase its overpriced? You must be new or something.

Agreed whole-heartedly with you on all above statements. MPK does have its satisfying factors, but none are as good as seeing a GM make RMT go 'POOF!'. Anyway... I found the link to the STF report form. I'll see what I can do, but I have to do more investigation myself to find more of them. I'm not satisfied yet with what was listed so far.
Agreed that getting them banned will hurt them exponentially - especially if said banned characters are eliminated with the ill-gotten goods still on them!

Current list:

Hanicat, Grammer, Airelle, Tsuga, Dudley, Askuaa, Woltet, Hagmos, Xicoro, Komya, Pikorg, Amitage, Gimo, Askuaa, Varelly, Lainhyrt

There are probably more, but the FFXIAH listing only goes so far back.

you could just boycott it if it's too high and just do the bcnm, w/e for it.

you get the value of the item and it for free to sell whenever you're done with it

While I agree with you on that, the real issue here is that they think they're getting away with this, we can't let them do as they please, the RMT must be removed by any means.

Don't you all think if RMT could be stopped that they woulda been dead a LONG time ago? Am i the only one that sees this?

Edited your list due to a repeat. Thank you, however for posting a compiled list with your findings included. Perhaps if more of us can do this, we can find out all of them. And yes, even though it goes back only so far, remember that when they keep shuffling the items around, that helps to keep things somewhat noticeable as well since you can find the repeats and the new ones. It's a matter of looking through the buyers/sellers to see if they are legit or not as well.

I agree with this, yes.. Most definitely. However, to those who don't have the time (typically those who end up buying the items), that usually is unable to be the case. An example being myself. I really can't do organized BCNMs due to lack of time. Anyway... the principle of the matter here is that what's going on is definitely illegitimate and unstable for the economy. Remember, you have to look at things as a whole in situations like this.

Don't you all think if RMT could be stopped that they woulda been dead a LONG time ago? Am i the only one that sees this?

Perhaps you don't see things in a larger and longer perspective. RMT used to only be dealing with NMs, on the most part. However, when SE began to counter them in that, they began to deal in other methods to obtain gil. Things are the way they are now due to only SE acting to counter the RMT. However, players as of recently have been trying to help SE in their investigations by taking note of activities like this and reporting them. It's a matter of whether or not people wish to take action. From the way it sounds, you don't wish to take part in countering the RMT, so perhaps you should merely stay on the sidelines and keep silent while letting others do the work. Not trying to be mean, but merely being honest and giving my logical opinion on the matter.

I guess the point I'm trying to make here is that in a game like this.. you really do have to look at things in a broader sense when you go with the jacked-up price like this.

Yep, you do. Which is exactly what you aren't doing. For the people that have gone through the last few christmas seasons, a 200k price jack isn't even a blip on the radar. 25M+ hauby anyone?

Keep prices low so they don't stay in business.' Show them we don't want them around.

This one made me giggle. They know we don't want them around. The near constant MPK attempts at anything RMT try to do should be a pretty good indicator. Keeping prices low just makes them have more stock in an item. Which they in turn will flood the market with, and make the price even lower. They are their own worst enemy if people didn't have money burning in their pockets, or a bloodlust need to get to 75 ASAP.

They know how to play the game and screw our economy up for their own personal gain. Is that what we want to give them? Or will we fight back, spreading the word to let people know to continue to keep the prices steady, regardless of how they decide to fight us? If SE can't do anything about it, that's when we have to sit, think, and come up with a way to alleviate this problem.

They aren't doing anything to the economy, besides a slight hiccup. Its nearly impossible for them to cause the 25M hauby crisis again. Spreading the word really won't do anything as long as there are people who buy gil, that will in turn buy the item they are trying to jack up. There will always be people to buy gil.

I'm tired of people just saying 'nothing that can be done about it'. There is something that can be done, but no one wants to do it.

There isn't anything that can be done. You can report them all you like, and in the off chance that they are banned, guess who is gonna be right back there doing the same thing the next day? Same people, maybe a one letter difference in the name. Its much easier to just roll with it and let the RMT hurt themselves.

Well if we all write in reports about the same people, I'm sure they'll have to go "Wtf?" and... you know, look into what they're doing.

I really really doubt that. Given the # of calls that are made at *any* HNM camp to watch a person for bots. Probably about half the zone of Jugner Forest called a GM to watch Endurpains so he didn't bot KA. GM asked when the window on him was....

This is just a temporary price increase. Its impossible to permanently hurt the economy. They have tried this before, and they will again. It will never end as long as there are people on the server who buy gil. Once again, there always will be.

Serious reality check needed in this thread.

usually the time it takes to farm an item is about the same or more for the time to bcnm it both take a lot of time and practice on the bcnm side if it's a first time for it.

depends on the bcnm and the item as well, but either is able to be accomplished. Solo the seals while you farm lucrative drops. bcnms are fairly short, setting up a good time sched. with everyone would be the only backdraw unless you do soloable bcnms(shooting fish, Evasive action-some isnm-, etc.)

takes longer but doable

>>>coming from someone who rarely has over 100k

They know legit players don't want them around, the only reason they keep coming back is because they are making profits from the buyers, if we keep doing damage to them financially, they'll have to cover all those costs, and the costs will outwiegh the profits, they will have to give up eventually.

It's just a matter of doing more damage to them over time than they can do to us. We're certainly not short on DD's here in Quetz and SE sure isn't shy about banning the RMT. Report the sites and players and the DoT starts, when their HP(profit margin) reaches 0, they'll drop like anyone else would.

And if you think that it is the silly AH bots that actually do the damage, then you are just silly. The AH bots are probably the bottom rung on the ladder of RMT. Quetz is pretty unique in that we don't have alot of the ladder, like Sea RMT or Kings RMT, but there are still the AH bots < Sky RMT <<<<<Crafting RMT.

If you want to go on a tangent about ridding RMT from the game then go for the big fish crafters, not the minnow AH bots. They are alot harder to spot, but they are still pretty obvious if you know what to look for.

Edit: I guess I can see where you got the idea I meant that these ones are actually doing major damage, I worded it wrong. Removing these ones is but a step in the final movement to remove them completely.

I'm aware there are more than just these little fish, but look at it like this:

There are certain branches of the RMT, if you happen to knock out one branch, the others hurt from it because they will try to get that branch back, as they always do, every time they try to get back into that bracket, they're losing profits trying to get back to those craft/exp levels. If we keep attacking the weak spots, the whole thing is bound to come crashing down, it just a matter of time. We can't beat them overnight, could take a year or two to chase them out at the earliest, but when they're hurting, we'll certainly see the effects.

Just think about how much it currently costs to get any craft to 80-100, they have to get back there every single time they get banned, that's what they're spending in game, which means they're not making that profit outside. The same goes for those higher level RMT that camp/bcnm and whatnot, they have to spend time getting back to the level required for said actions, they're not making any money when they have to level from 1 again.

These small-time RMT are just easier targets, they have easily-traced tracks that anyone can see, they are the current weak spot in the RMT. When they cannot afford to continue replacing the small ones, the next weak spot will show and we repeat the cycle until there are no more limbs to chop off.

So because Bill Gates would be okay with paying $50/gal Gasoline prices, thats what the price should be!

Sorry, dumb logic you've come up with. If the rich dictated the cost of things, you'd have a collapsed society.

he means that:

If people are willing to pay by the history and not value their money and just fork out any X amount of gil, then they deserve to be taken advantage of, when they could just refuse to buy it

If you're not willing to pay for one then do the fucking BCNM. It's free that way and when you get sick of it you can sell it for the stupid insane price. Jesus, lazy people.
