Astral Burning....the right way.

I don't take the "WILL PAY FOR LEECH SPOT" players because those are the ones who think they can buy their skill.

So much fail here.

Paying a group to level a job that's down right horrible to exp normally, so you can do more productive things instead =! "buy their skill"

By the logic of some of these replies, you would think none of you have ever been in a TP burn or Mana burn either.

Next up, let's set caps on how much EXP per hour is tolerable before you are just leveling too darned fast to be acceptable.

OP, I respect your ideas and appreciate what you are trying to do. Like so many other things in life, this would be perfect in an ideal world. I think some just hold a mere video game to a much higher standard than it should be.

TLDR; H8ers gon H8. Keep on truckin'.

@jeska: alereth's logic is very sound actually. he's not flat out assuming anything, he's makin educated guesses. ask anyone that has lvl'd blu to 75 and they all will tell you the same thing, spell hunting takes a shitload of patience. Hell it's the biggest deterrent to people when the thought of lvling the job comes to mind. and cor's don't just spam rolls to party members, they have a B in marksmanship and are expected to contribute to the dmg pool as well. COR's that cant DD, ie the people that burn it because the job is popular, piss my corsair friends off to no end.

I have no problems with season'd vets who have already paid their dues using this to sidestep a grind they know all to well. But we can't deny that this is polluting the player genealogy.

If I couldn't make it clear, this is the point I'm trying to get at. Yes, it's horrid because of the quality of people most burns produce. But if done properly, those experienced players can sidestep the horrid, slow levels where nothing happens, no noteworthy spells and abilities are gained and you are stuck whacking away at crawlers and colibri across a 10-15 level span.

So much fail here.

And not sure what this is about. I fail because I won't take gil from just anybody willing to throw it my way so they can completely bypass the entire learning process of a job?

Riiiiiiight.....

I could care less what you do. If you want to stand on your high horse, feel free. Other people will gladly take the gil leechers will pay for a spot, instead.

If someone cares to actually do their job well, they will figure out how to play it well regardless. Auto-attacking a mob until 100 TP and hitting a WS macro on several thousand crabs and colbris isn't going to make someone a smart player.

Thx for playing though

There's no such thing as "paying your dues". Who cares how shitty it was to level your bad job that's only useful for Alexander and killing everything in Korroloka?

And here I thought most people in burns leveled COR so they can get their two hours back for their burner buddies back faster without having to shout in Wg "20k for 2hr plzzz!" I mean come on its not about how good their accuracy is or how much patience they have finding spells as a Blu, its all about looking cool in COR relic to the noob that last week saw a COR in Wg and thought the job looked koll. ^^

Actually I dont really care much if they paid their dues taking Mnk or War to 75 it doesnt equate to becoming a Sch or Cor or Smn really where different qualities are required throughout your leveling life from 10-75. Quailties you just dont get being handed the levels all at once so to speak.

Isnt that what a Rpg is all about? Gaining your levels and working to a goal? Who determines what is too slow a standard to be acceptible, you play this game seven years ago where it took a player three times as long to get to the top lv's? Its insainely easy to take a job up to 75 now I've soloed several via campiagn and FoV and maybe it wasnt overnight like burns but I felt like I at least worked for the exp I got not stood there while several people blew apart a few hundred mobs with avatars...

Look I know I'm in a losing discussion here, ask anyone if they want something for little or no effort and quite naturally they will say yes everytime to it. And anyone that questions it will come off bad like a 'hater' I'm no hater I just had some opinions thats all, I used to enjoy soloing in Kor tunnel I soloed many jobs like Drg and Dnc from 18-24 in there I used to see Japanese partys there trying to avoid the dunes and qufim nightmare partys, now that zone has become smn burn central.

Sorry

Sorry

You don't have anything to be sorry for. But you say " who determines what is too slow to be acceptable" to which I say, who determines what is too fast to be unacceptable?

An RPG is not about the levelgrind. Its about the quests and community.

Also, COR was an example. I'm not saying that just because you made a great RNG, you're going to make a great COR. What I'm saying is that certain aspects of a job directly translate to another job. Ranged skill for RNG to COR is the exaqmple presented.

Also, I still believe you are under this grand assumption that we sit there and take someone from 10 to 75 or 80. Wrong. This is small level hopping, not exping an entire class.

One last thing. Your argument seems to lean heavily on CORs in burns. I please ask that if you continue to present your opinion, you do so with a broader range of thought than jus how noob 75 CORs upset you.

There's no such thing as "paying your dues". Who cares how shitty it was to level your bad job that's only useful for Alexander and killing everything in Korroloka?

Also, who the fuck cares about what you did leveling the job from 1-80? For most jobs, the way you play it in endgame events is nowhere close to what you do in XP parties. "It makes gimps" isn't an argument since the same people would be just as 'gimp' but level slower.

Given the choice, I'd rather a new player hit high levels quickly. They're less likely to quit due to XP burnout and the ones that would be good anyway will listen to advice and play the job as it should in endgame after being taught how to.

Anyone who plays a job that simplistically needs to be re-evaluating their job choice. Any DD who plays like that isn't doing what they can to learn the ins and outs of their job and is likely not contributing as much as they could.

God help us if you think playing any mage jobs is that simple.

Jeska, not to be offensive, but I've been in a few SMN burns with you, and listened to you complain more often than I care to remember about not being invited to join them. This intense anti-summoner burn stance you take here on QCDN is more than a little hypocritical. Sorry to derail this, but for crying out loud, get off your high horse and stop looking down on everyone that has ever done a smn burn in every single thread that mentions the topic. It's getting really old. Let he who is without sin, cast the first stone.

Curing and haste cycles are simple stimulus-response based tasks. Any other "skill" is in gear selection and macro preparation. I'm not saying it doesn't take talent to do some of the things mages do in other aspects of the game, nor do I deny that there are certain general skills that quality players have over inexperienced ones, but 99% of all EXP tasks could be handled by someone with a half a brain and a set of simple instructions.

*shrug*
Maybe I'm just biased because I haven't EXPed in Aht Urhgan, but I find myself doing more than curing and hasting in my exp parties. I guess with certain party setups and camps it could boil down to cures and hastes, but I try to find situations where it takes more than two macros to do my job.

I still stand by my statement regarding DDs though. If they're only hitting attack and WS then they're slacking. Learning when to use your JAs and how to manage hate tend to be pretty important, even if it's not the busiest task.

I've personally never had any problem using SMN burns to level up sub jobs, or level up a job for which I already have all the requisite skills leveled.

What I've never understood are the people who use SMN burns to take completely new jobs to 75. You're not saving any time in doing this; arguably, you're adding time to the amount that's going to be required before you're "done" with a job, because you're not really "done" until your primary skills are capped. You can SMN burn your WAR to 75 if you like, but you're gonna have the skill levels of whatever level it was you started at, unless you've acquired them elsewhere, and that means yet more hours spend grinding out skill levels on crabs or whatever mob you prefer.

For melee skills, you can always cap them pretty easily while AFK on Zvahl Fortalices in Castle Zvahl Baileys . I still think you'd probably make a profit on time vs. leveling up the whole time in standard parties.

hey Ale my friends used to do smn burns to get done with thier mules other jobs and then wed all go skill later together to make sure noone was taking the easy road.
The real reason i'm posting is because one of the burners from that group has a bunch of 12's and i was wondering if you'd like to use him for syncs?

Fucking this!

I got invited as a sync this weekend on WAR and went from 10 to 21. Now I'm still stuck grinding out skillups. It's enough to make me never want to do a burn again.

I have never smn burned with you Brehn I've done it like three times ever and I'll thank you to leave any opinions you have upon my stance on this out of this, I left this thread and its no longer in the flameboard section so please just go do your burns and get off your own high horse that anyone (not just me) that thinks this way is wrong to offer an opinion.

I offered my opinion thats all, if you cant stand that I suggest you dont read comments then that might upset you.

This was on the Flameboard? o.o

Jeska has a major gripe against smn burners because he has no friends to invite him to one nor does he like the fact that he has to campaign all day just for 1 level. That's all it is folks lol
He's just wasting his time complaining so just let him since it isn't getting him any exp either.
