your avatar is too big

Way to come in and kill someones happy day thread...totally bitchie thing to do...use a P.M. or something but damn...you ruined his thread through and through.

I've used PMs, 3 of them actually.

Sorry if I'm tired of people not obeying the 1 rule on the board. I always use a PM before getting on their back publicly. The rules and guidelines are clearly marked and there for people to read. I even corrisponded with him through PMs and he still would not do it, so I took it a step further. You don't like it oh well...maybe you could help me by sending out PMs also, I'm getting frustrated with it as I"m sure you would so how about you get of my back and get the whole story before jumping down my throat.

Nah, I wouldn't sweat it I've never had a person with oversized avatars ruin my boards. I saw the avatar it wasn't THAT bad and when you went off about his Sig give me a break...just looked like you were out to get him and seeing the way you took being CCed on Padfoot recently (by Wowzer) I just figured you were childish so instantly started banging on him. So no I don't pity you, your frustration is rediculous and you bring it on yourself. You should have more to worry about than a damn oversized avatar, then again...I just fail to see how if you did send him PM's why he pushed it off yet when you nailed him here he got it done...makes no sense.

You don't think oversized avatars detract from the quality of the boards? Is that why there have been multiple topics on the flameboard with people complaining about it? Or when one pops up on a topic people are all "Jesus your avatar is huge!!" It's obviously making people frustrated and pissed off. It's my job as Mod of the Fan Works to keep the problem under control. When people's signatures and avatars are altering board format or end up longer than 90% of their posts it's a problem. His avatar was extending the width of the side column by about 60 pixels so think before you speak.

There aren't many rules and guidelines to follow on this board and that's probably the major one. Sculli would routinely go nuke sigs and avatars for being just a few px too big, I'm sending out PMs that are usually like

"Hey there! Great sig/avatar but it's a little too big, do you think you can make it "insert size of whatever is too big"?

Thanks have a great day!

-Sabs

Now I sent him MULTIPLE messeges like this and told him to take down the avatar until he figured out how to fix it...he would not listen so I decided to go public with it. Did it work? Obviously.

Signature images should be no taller than 200 px and no longer than 550 px...does this mean you can stack 4 or five images all together because all of them are under that size but combined they're about 700 px tall and 1000 long? No! Lets use our brain here for a sec and execute some common sense.

I'm getting pissed, this was never a problem before and now it seems I'm sending out more PMs about signature/avatar sizes than making posts so how about you shut up Strid, takes a lot to get me pissed off so don't pull this "OMG!! You're such an anal bitch" routine because I'm not.

About your dick head friend, I've camped padfoot A LOT and I've been in that area with 5+ people and have never seen counter camping tactics that use /follow. Did I ask him nicely to stop following me? Yeah. Did he continue to do it, yes - so I called him a dick head. BOO HOO!

/comfort

Btw, nice sig. You made the other one too? Heh, I'm looking forward to this one, looks like it might actually be good. :D

Thanks Sanjo.....

And I did do the other ones too :D

Sabs wins!!!!! ^_^

I hate it when it takes a bajillion years for qcdn to load up because little things like oversized avatars or sig start giving the site a heart attack with the increased bandwidth it takes to load.

Thanks Sabs for enforcing the law and for doing your job. ^_^

{/cheer}

Going off topic a bit...

He was CCing you by /following you? Easy way to stop that: start running away from the spawn area, then change equipment. His /follow will just turn into normal autorun and he'll just keep running until he hits a wall or stops it himself. Especially useful if the spawn point is in a difficult to reach area (such as the cliff in Sauromugue you have to go through Garlaige to get to) - just send him off the cliff.

Back on topic...

Yeah, the avatar sizes are a problem, especially the width. I can understand if you have an avatar size that's 110 pixels tall or something, as that only lengthens your one post and doesn't affect other posts, but something that's 200 pixels wide is too big.

You're fighting the good fight, Sabs. I know I'm obnoxious, but I always make sure my signatures and avatars are well within regulation strength.

If you're at padfoot take your time and shoot him into the abraxas.

Well, with QCDN being kind of slow in the morning too, it doesn't need anything else to add onto that load time.

It's a bloody simple thing to do. Avatars and sigs... if you made them once, youc an make them again....in proper format.

First off, good job with sigs. I'm sick of scrolling left and right just to try to read the forums, just because some ass didn't read the forum rules. Ignorance is not equal to innocence, either. Kudos.

Secondly, I'd like to let you know for a fact that you weren't being /followed at padfoot. So you were being followed manually around by someone. Big deal. Happens to me all the time, and I still get a lot of claim. People reacted the way they did because you overreacted on that. But again, nobody was /following you. You can both drop it now.

Garvin his blue dot was on my Carbuncle for a good 1/2 hour and I didn't overreact the first time I just said "/follow {No Thanks} which he continued to do for a good hour. I'm talking I move one foot to the right and he'd do it too. I'd had a rather bad day and had never seen counter camping tatctics like that - I don't think it was wrong to call him a dick, it was my opinion and I left at that, I wasn't even going to bring it to the flameboard because I know it's a case of personal opinion.

There's no set rules on how to camp NMs but everyone's allowed to decide what they think is right and wrong and I though it was wrong. You guys stirred it up into something more by bringing it here which I wasn't even considering doing.

As for the avatar thing It's nice to see people appreciate what I'm trying to do because it does wear on my nerves. 1 or 2 I can laugh off and even if it's 6 in one day and everyone's rather receptive with the "Oh sorry I didn't know...Think you could help me shrink it?" I'm all about but this one got on my nerves and the Strid has the balls to come out and say I'm being an asshole about it without getting both sides of the story.

If you guys see something that's stupid oversized send them a PM, most of the times I"m finding they just didn't know. :D

I must say I disagree with the above statement.

http://www.qcdn.org/viewtopic.php?t=11015&start=0

Though I agree with forum rules and such things and have no issues whatsoever with the enforcement of them. I never recieved said PM.

In fact the only Administration PM's I have recieved was the one from Sculli when he had to NERF our entire LS's sigs because they didn't comply with the sizing policy. Another was when I registered, he said I couldn't used symbols in my forum name , we exchanged a few polite pm's and had it fixxed.

Heh, poor Likkwid.... he had to remake all of them sigs to specs.

Anyways, good job staying on top of the policy,. I am not upset at all that I had to take mine down, in fact it was the 1st thing I did when I read your reponse, which Hijacked the thread btw..... (not so good of a job for a admin). I didn't even mind so much that it hadn't been pointed out to me in a proper fashion.

Honestly I hadn't even thought about the 'Incedent' until I happened upon a whole new topic posted about "jerks and thier avatars" submitted by the very Admin who got me flamed in a pretty recent thread. so..... I pop on into the thread to see if somehow I had done something so terrible that now I would find myself Battling the community over an avater  ....but o.k. ; WtH I don't post often in Flameboards because well, they are mostly childish and even irrational.

It's only here that I finally felt compelled to respond.

1. If you know that a PM is the proper reaction to the situation. Then you should just follow a simple policy, Act like an administrator. Nerf it and send the PM explaining why it had to be removed.

2. Posting a Flame about a forum member in a matter directly related to your duties and responsibilities is very unprofessional and unbecoming anyone in a position of authority. If the stress of the the job is causing you to outburst in this fashion, then perhaps as good as the title may be..... it just may not be the job for you.

3. You are in an Authorative position and given priviliges that require a great deal of Trust, Respect and Integrity. Coming out with this thread Hasn't gained you any of those, in fact to read the post and have you "quote" yourself lying about Shirking responsibilities you apparently are aware of, is not only stupid and childish in of itself, but very unsettling.

Hope you consider these things for future reference. Being proactive in the role of administrator, should not promt you to go on a crusade against people and ruining the quality of the very forum your trying to protect. It may very well be the case that you did send that individual multiple PM's, but, that wasn't the case with me.

I hope this doesn't anger you, that's not what it is intended to do. I still think you're a great gal.
{Thank you} {take care}

heh. no edit >.< Imma n>.< fire away!!

it  wasn't sabs.....

Heh I apologize for the response in the flameboard to your avatar thread, My wife convinced me it was you that had posted to me about my avatar.

Again I apologize , shoulda checked to be sure

Palidine I'm going to apologize to you publicly, I noticed your avatar right about the time I was having issues with said person mentioned above and read your name as Palasin. Pupusa has been gone for a while now (he hasn't even checked his in box) and I want to discuss with him a method of actually removing avatars from people's accounts as I can't do that. He's gone a lot and has obviously been buisy, most of the modding I do is at work so I have the time to do it.

Reason I didn't send you a PM is I had thought you were Palasin and I had sent him a few by this time, sorry about that and I really didn't check the thread again after I made the post. Sorry again.

Sabia <-Noob

heh it was in a different post though , anyways, all good, I just think that if you just delete it that's the best method, I hate to see some people witch hunted to get thier avatars off by the community as a whole , when it is easily remedied with a few of those option buttons , not available to the rest of us ;)

well, this is why I SHOULDN'T POST IN FLAMEBOARDS . LOL NO EDIT*

There should be something in the admin/mod control panel that allows you to set the maximum size of the avatar the users are allowed to upload. I had to do that on my forums after a while. Having 3,000 members with 2999 of them having HUGE avatars after repeated telling them not to be dumbasses about taking advantage of the no size limit on avatars. Only reason I had it at no limit is because I've had a few people be 1 pixel over on an animated avatar. I set the avatar limit to 120x120 and no problems since. ^^

For the /follow thing. When I was camping Simmy with the LS, Teppo had one of my friends acting like he's on /follow. Sad to say, he wasn't. He moved exactly the same ways as Teppo but no matter how many times Teppo changed equipment, he still was behind him like on /follow. Teppo even attempted to run him off the ledge.

Ah Sabia, perhaps you should think a little bit before whining about cc'ing.

I was the one who you claimed was /follow'ing you. Now let me take you through my pov on the situation.

I was camping padfoot with a few friends, each of us taking one of his spawns. After standing around by myself for a bit, I see a taru smn/whm come along. This is all fine with me, I didn't expect there to be no competition at all. Now you being a smn/whm and only in the 60's at most, I knew your main method of claim would most likely be dia. Now me being a warrior, I would obviously claim with provoke. Seeing as how my ability was instant and yours was not, I would have the advantage if padfoot were to pop near both of us. Are you following?

Therefore, my "tactic" for cc'ing you was to stick near you since I would have the speed advantage. And also I kept myself on the side of you that had the majority of the possible spawn location. I never once used /follow on you, seeing as how there would be no point.

All your bitching about following was completely uncalled for. If you can't take people cc'ing you in a matter in which they see fit(other than resorting to mpk'ing)then sit yourself in jueno and dont bother camping anything.
