For the record, I've always felt that QCDN delivered mixed messages when it comes to oft-posted topics. On one hand, you have the ever-pervasive attitude "z0MG nebber postz abowt stuffz we alreddy talked 'bout!!" This is the dominating philosophy that nearly all Internet forums have adopted.
Then again, QCDN ALSO also takes the far rarer stance that "necroposting is bad." There's a semi-famous flash movie that's been around a few years that explains, condescendingly, that "it is always better to post in an existing thread than create a new one." It's literally linked to buy 60% of message boards, which is a direct contradiction of the "don't necro threads" rules that some other boards (including ours) has. That's fine, but most communities are smart enough to stay consistent with either one attitude, or the other.
We try to have it both ways, and it's all rather conflicted.
Either we let newer members talk about things that the older members have already covered before by creating their own threads ... or we kick out the thread necromancy rule. Declaring a topic "off-limits" simply because those of us that were here 2 years ago are "done" with it has always come across to me as horribly stupid.
Yes, Avesta pwnz us.
