kari is a nice person, and had a few unfortunate things happen which caused her to do that. its not exactly the same situation as alot of people who sell their accounts.. so while your statement is probably valid on most accounts sold, the situation on this one is different and you'd probably feel like an ass if you knew half.

Or you could've managed your money better. While it's all ducky that you saved yourself from whatever was going in your real life, perhaps you should work on some kind of savings account so you won't have to rely on doing something potentially illegal again. Granted, that's pretty hypocritical of myself considering I pushed nicks for 2 weeks because I left my credit card in my school locker, but I digress.

Another thing is that had it been anyone else that sold their account, I know damn well half of the posters in this thread would've been doing backflips getting ready to rail the person for selling the account.

lol, situation... I guess shes the only person in the world to have to deal with medical problems, eh? Gimme a break, you wont find any sympathy from me, especially regarding medical problems. Her posts after mine just showed how likely she is to do it again with a "duh, of course i sold my account, what else would i have done" attitude. I don't feel like an ass one bit, plenty of people have RL problems, thats apart of living life. This is a game, as so many people like to point out, not a resource to bail you out because you don't have finances in order. And neo is absolutely right about you riping somone a new one for selling their account. Honestly, if I sold my account, and then came back, you all would rip me a new one.

Also, how is some medical condition a legitimate excuse for RMT, but it being a large portion of your income like chinese gil sellers isn't? I'm not saying what they do is excusable, but according to your logic, it is.

Dude, who cares if she sold her account? In what way does it diminish your game experience? You said it yourself, when you have RL problems, and don't have the means to get by, you gotta find a way. I think selling a digital character to take care of your RL issue is very worth it. It's a part of living "life" not a game. Quoted from your own rant.

Besides, the money you get for your account means you are handing over your time and work and that's it. You don't get a salary or income from selling your account, if you want to play still, you have to start all over. There is nothing you can say to justify the argument that selling her account would provide her income other than that one time to bail her out of a problem. I only got so much for mine, it's long been exhausted. But it took care of very important RL things for me, and was very worth it.

Where did I say either of those things? And all I said at first was that she was an RMT, which she, in fact was. I was more pointing out that those who curse RMT but were welcoming her back with open arms is laughable. I never said her being an RMT was diminishing my game experience, so stop putting words in my mouth and assuming I mean somthing else with my posts.

A few things here. First, this isn't the place for this crap. I know you and some others can't resist, but if you have something like this to say, feel free to post a flame on the flameboard about how much you hate RMT rather than crap on someone's thread elsewhere. Second, in response to your posts here, you are being the most self-righteous person I've ever seen. Bully for you that you have never been in a desperate situation where you had to make a choice between dire straights and sacrificing your precious FF. But just because you've never experienced those problems doesn't mean someone who has is somehow a cretin because they did what they had to do to get by. The bottom line is, yes, it was a real money trade transaction, and while I certainly hate the idea of any RMT activity, I think to lump someone in her situation in with the gilselling morons who go out of their way to alter all areas of game activity in the name of IGE is a bit of a stretch. I'm not advocating what she did by any means, but I think there is a big difference between making a career out of screwing legit players in this game and utilizing all resources available to you in a crisis.

That said, if you feel the need to keep thumping the Anti-RMT bible, please do it on the flameboard where it belongs.

Who the hell said that I've never had money or medical problems? In fact, the exact opposite is true. I had my fucking head in a toilet yesterday because of medical problems and constantly am dealing with bull shit from a disease that affects my life in nearly every decision I make. As far as money goes, Im a full time college student whose parents no longer send a dime his way. It doesn't get much more poor than that.

And honestly, as Ill say again, I wasn't even flaming anyone. This site has become very watered down. Suddenly every single comment that isnt an automated BS response of "Welcome back!" is a flame. Grow up and learn to take some freaking heat. My first post was only two sentences for god sakes, and was pointed at those WBing her, not even the OP herself. If you view me pointing her out as an RMT as a flame, then I guess you missed the post where she declared she was the exact definition of one.

And somthing tells me being mellow isn't going to cure the lifelong disease I have. Of course, I could be wrong. Shit, wait. No I couldn't. Idk how you detect anger online though lol. I laughed at most of this thread. And as far as flaming goes, I guess we have different views of a flame. Anything against the grain is a flame here now I guess. I could have been so very much worse, I actually thought I went kinda easy on her. Hell, it was two sentences lol
 
Luckily, if I cared what people like Zoolander thought, I wouldn't of bothered posting anything at all, or coming back for that matter. Because there is always someone somewhere (especially when it comes to FFXI) that is just itching to throw a fit about something.

But yeah, an $8000 dollar emergency surgery REALLY was totally my fault because I don't manage my money better. Do you know what happens when you have a surgery 2 days after seeing a doctor? You loose out on up to four weeks of pay because you can't go to work. Which is quite more extreme then having a stomach bug. How many of you have eight grand laying around? I dunno about you, but that kind of money is hard to save when you have normal every day bills and live on your own. I work very hard, but (as most if not every person should know) sometimes life hits you with a very hard situation. And you have to sacrifice.

Would I do it again with this character? Nope. On the contrary I felt and still do feel really bad about selling, since that was three years worth of time spent with my friends. If people who were my friend were mad at me for selling and decided not to welcome me back I would accept that entirely, for that is a concequence of my decision and I'm not denying I did it or shouldn't be labeled as RMT since thats what I did. (I was agreeing with you there, pissypants.) You don't like me, thats fine, I'll take that. Luckily, when it comes to you, I don't care.
