Back to leveling Ninja - lv 52

So basically every person tha doesnt want to sit at a stupid dragon camp every day for 3 years when they could be doing something else because they wanted a good WS peice for thier head slot is a gimp?

I made 100k fishing in the past 24 hours. I could "fish up" a PCC in under a month. The gil isn't hard to get, it's being willing to stop and do something tedious to get what you want rather than blazing to lvl 75 in mediocrity.

No.

This is not about end-game gear. This is about an easily obtainable piece that is 15x's less expensive to get than it used to be.

If you didn't attempt to try for it (n.head), you are gimping yourself from what you could be, but I wouldn't call you a gimp for not having one. I Never check people's gear, that's their own responsibility. But if you're gonna sit here and argue that a PCC isn't worth the effort, than I'll save myself the pain of partying with you.

I've never in 4 years of playing met someone who I felt was talented and hardworking that didn't have gear as a result of that talent and effort.

I've never flamed someone after checking their gear, and never plan on it. If you jump on those bandwagon flames that pop up weekly saying they should 'at least have such and such', than why can't someone make the same remarks about your gear. You're just as much of a 'gimp' to us that they are to you. The difference here is admittance that something isn't worth the effort. When I throw explanations of why something is worth the effort, I get ridiculous answers in return.
I started out with suggestions to stop&farm, but that obviously wasn't a good enough response. At least I have your (the collective group's) attention now.

You owe me moat carp.

Ruff your a good player so i know you wouldn't completly go gimp, ninja was my first job to 75 and what really helped me out (especially with the money side of things..) was leveling some of my craft skills to 30-40ish. personally i chose clothcraft first.

occassionally spending maybe 30 mins out in altepa would allow me to farm a few stacks of kaginawa, which at the time was the most expensive tool to buy (shihei obviously versus quantity but for enfeeb spells, most expensive and most useful).
i don't really bother with kurayami as evasion is a waste of time on any mob worth the effort. with evasion gear and kurayami i had a hard time in aydeewa subterane evading but more importantly gaining hate.
With a good whm or rdm keeping haste up on you and a slowed mob you should be able to cycle from utsu ni to ichi easily.

when you get 58 get your af body you'll love it. and start building a str setup for your ws's.

att/haste and acc are really what you want to try to improve on for hate/tp gain

Str/dex and acc for ws's, macro in the bracelets or something just don't keep em on for tp building. main reason..
SE are pretty shit at designing hands and every one can see em, enough said cover them up.

my nin is currently working with a delay reduction of -40% (includin trait bonus) and +20% haste through gear and i hit pretty dam fast with the cheap nasty fudo in offhand.(.. workin on perdu >.<)

2 great peices you might want are swift belt and nokizaru gi, they shouldn't hit your wallet to bad unless brygid takes the piss and wants you to appear in silk slops or something.

just take your time with nin, the time spent farming/ questing will be equally rewarded with the rate you get invites.

ever think of just farming it up and buying the o.kotes and fuma?

edit, considering the time your spending camping them you could be earning gil

thought of it, yeah. Did it? No, farming isnt my way of making money, I cant stand doing it. I just dont have fun or enjoy it.

Camping NM, although frustrating, is much more efficient for me because I have plenty of time to go do w/e else I have to do around here while waiting for it to respawn.

Yeah I could be earning gil with the time Im camping them.. But I cant go afk and farm effectively, either :(

lol I dont think I will be...

The main questions I was wanting answered were What food should I use and when I shouldnt bother with elemental tools anymore

Sole Sushi, no exception. Stop using the elemental wheel, except cheap one (whatever the cheap tools are now) because they help keep Ninja skill capped. Use the debuff tools (blind, slow, paralyze) always.

Who said it wasn't worth getting. People are saying they're trying to get it, and it just hasn't dropped, and you're sitting here talking negatively about people 'working' at getting something, which is my problem. I had a static for that BC which broke because we never saw one, and one person ran out of seals.

I'm sorry someone wearing a Chiv Chain or Specs is not gimp for not having a PCC. You might as well call someone gimp for not having a Suppa, Brutal, Haidate, or anything else you need other people to get.

I've gotten my gear when I got it. I don't have as much time to play as I used to, and if I didn't do anything with that time but camp NMs, or do the same BC because I wasn't going to level without one and only one item, I would quit due to the game not being enjoyable anymore.

And on the pcc thing... you can get +4 acc +4 atk fr all of 3k vs spending 2 mil. There are things more important to upgrade than an extra 5~6 acc with that 2 mil.

You obviously weren't defending my side with that comment...and your comments about 'time constraints' seem to coincide with what he said. You do say you won't stop leveling in order to get a piece of equipment first...which is the point I was arguing.

My logic follows that:
If you feel its important enough, which it is, you won't gimp yourself for 42 levels to get to 75 without one. Effort is one thing, results are another. I didn't get my charm from the b.c., and I payed a helluva lot more than 2M for it.
My point is that there are two viable options. Its an easy BC to win, just a tough drop rate. More importantly, because of how easy it is, its a great deal to even purchase, and you act like 2M is impossible to obtain. Like Rappa said, he could make that amount fishing.
My GS'r makes enough for it in probably 3 weeks just from tips I give him on ores. Finding steady gil can oftentimes be more succesful than getting an item off of luck. If the item isn't ra/ex, you can take this into consideration.

Side track a lil from the argument, when i first posted i have a mindset that most nin have equip change macro for evasion, tp and ws. What i suggested is the evasion gears when shadow are down or when you need evasion rather than be beaten up by the mobs, eg. Pecking flurry = byebye Shadow.

WS gears and TP gears, i did not recommend any since Ruffy is DRK and BLU, so i am assuming he knows those. I always carry 3-4 sets of gears on NIN same with my other jobs.

Edit: and maybe Enmity gears at later level...
Edit2: If someone ask, i want to lvl Ninja and i have 10million to spare, then i would suggest PCC, O.Kote, Kyahan etcetcetc, my suggestion is based on the situation of the person who was asking the advice.

Wow this has been taken way too seriously...

Yea.. i knew this will happen, that's why i noted "This is not the "elite" gear that is available out there" in my first post >.>...

Sole or Dorado are the common two food most NIN used, if you are not sure which to use, bring both to a party and decide after that, that should be the easiest.

For elemental tools, same with food, bring a couple stack with you, use them in party, then you can decide if it's worth using it at all. As someone mentioned, tools could be useful if you are fighting crab and the mages are slow on Dispel or Finale etc..

You are the one that play the jobs, we give suggestions, you decide which to take.

Cheers :P

No, no. You don't just skip food on Colibri, you bring cheap shit. Meat Mithkabobs. Which is the exact reason I suggest you wait to level Ninja. If you're going to gimp out on gear and food, don't play it. This is not me being mean to you, this is me telling you you're going to be a hinderance on your parties if you do. I understand you probably have gear leftover from DRK and BLU, but after reading some of your other threads about your gear choices on either job, I really don't see you forming yourself into well-equipped Ninja.

As for the tools, yeah, you need to have them on hand from 40-55, at the very least. If your nukes were landing for 10-20, something is wrong, or your Ninjutsu skill is far, far from where it should be, because average damage on them is 50~90, with 50 being an extreme low.

Again, I'm not trying to be an ass, but they say Ninja is one of the most expensive jobs to level for a reason. There's a very good reason people frown upon Ninja who selectively play with crappy ass gear and think nothing of it. Sure, I know you're a decent player, but believe it or not, gear does play an important role in that job. You won't always have haste, you won't always have erase even, and you'll need to substantiate. With 200,000 gil, you won't stand a chance at properly equipping yourself.

Just my two cents.
Wise words indeed there, my Ninja is parked at 46 untill I can complete the gear and expenses I feel I will need to take it higher. When I do decide to level Ninja it will be my main focus and I will put all my efforts into gearing and supplying with every tool, I have seen too many bad ninja's out there doing a half-assed job I dont want to do a job unless I can do it to the best of my abilites, if that means taking time to gear it properly so be it.

Regardless, i think NIN should still have one set of eva gear available on him so he could switch over when needed. Keeping hate is one thing, keeping hate while staying alive is another.

Equip change macro.. if only SE could expand more than 6 lines /fume

We should all just play a game for the monotonous, unenjoyable tasks. We should all play exactly the same, equip the same gear and all be the same because there really only is one best and correct method. We should spend 800 hours obtaining beastmen seals or farm up moat carp for a month to obtain 1 piece of gear. And next month, we should repeat that same task for a SH+1 because anything less is unacceptable from the perfect standard.

It's a game. You realize that, but I don't think you fully understand. Do you play sports with friends? Perhaps golf? Let's say you are out in a round of golf and suddenly your friend pulls out a nine iron instead of a driver(I really don't have the slightest clue about golf, but it's a good example). You ask why and he says his driver broke and he hasn't replaced it. You immediately call him a gimp and tell him he shouldn't be playing golf at all until it's replaced. Would you do that? Or does your elitism only stretch to video games?
