Back to leveling Ninja - lv 52

I would gladly accept any help you would give, and would give any help in return, if possible. I always repay my debts, lol

You need to help me first! D: lol.

I can contest to Shmedly have great luck on drops... Lucky bastard sword... Meanwhile I'm 0/22 on LeapingLizzy... GIVE ME THE BOOTS FUCKER!

Well bish, let me know when you wanna camp that shit. You never send me a /tell when you are headed out there, and I'm sure as hell not going to search the zone, or for you, just to see if you are camping it =P We also need to get you a hairpin off of VE.

Peace,
Shmed

I scrolled through it until I came to this phrase:

Eh, take it with a grain of salt. Not all of his stuff is really tooth and nail gospel. He's actually more of an idiot than anything. I myself am compiling personal experiences while using this guide as a scape goat as I make my way up, recalling detailed information on camps, where to go specifically at specific levels (different than that of the guide) and what the effective pull / spell rotations are. It'll be pretty detailed when done, but time is kind of tight sometimes.

So Ive spent hundreds of BS's on PCC bcnm, and still havent received a PCC.

That is some really, really bad luck. Ikari and I went 2/13 once >.>;

My 1/3(my orbs only) has really got to sting then. Sorry about the bad luck.

Peace,

I don't see how an item from a BC with a horrible drop rate is standard gear, or a piece of gear from a required mission clearance that you need other people to reach and clear to gain access to an area is either.

I've never taken the game serious enough to say I'm not leveling this job until I have each and every piece of the best gear. I'm sorry someone wearing a Chiv Chain or Specs is not gimp for not having a PCC. You might as well call someone gimp for not having a Suppa, Brutal, Haidate, or anything else you need other people to get.

I've gotten my gear when I got it. I don't have as much time to play as I used to, and if I didn't do anything with that time but camp NMs, or do the same BC because I wasn't going to level without one and only one item, I would quit due to the game not being enjoyable anymore.

1. Please distinguish between items you can get at 75 and items obtainable before that.
Suppa Lvl 72. With SE's fix, unless you have good reason for another earring at 75 you better have it.
Brutal Lvl 75. CoP has been out forever, you don't even need to do limbus to get this. All you need is Sea, which as mentioned earlier, had battles nerfed. What is the first item melee strive for when getting sea? Brutal.
Haidate. SE is offering these up on a silver platter now...yes, you should make plans to get them.
PCC isn't in the same discussion as these. Anyone can get one of these, its a blessing from the SE gods that the way to obtain it was changed. This was a discussion about lvl 52...perhaps you missed that.

2. I play about 10 hours a week now. But thats not an excuse to gimp myself. If you choose to play a job, get the best gear available, not to pat yourself on the back, but for the benefit of others you are playing with. Its selfish to say you're gonna pick and choose which gear will help you at a current budget. You couldn't solo your Genkai items, those were important to get and you couldn't continue until you had them. Set the same precedent for gear.
I compare the drive to 75 as college, prepping you for the real world. Once you hit 75, if you haven't been doing all the prepwork along the way, you're gonna be ages behind everyone else. Like Meeze mentioned in the What If thread, SE should have an IQ test for Genkai IV, because frankly, the 'exams' they have are a joke. Parties along the way to 75 are study groups, you're holding back the rest of the people you're grouped with by not getting the best gear available and working your ass off for it. Some people just try to survive school, some make the best of the situation and actually try to learn something they can apply in the real world.

Hell, this is a game? o.o

But NIN is fun, enjoy it and equip it as well as you can. Strive for better gear as a goal to make it more fun.

First off, I got my gear, I just refused to stop leveling because I didn't get a Haub or whatever right at the level. I got a Haub at about 62-63 for ex. I've done the PCC BC many, many, many times, if it doesn't drop it doesn't drop, it that the players fault?

And I'm sorry if you have the best gear in all the spots, and you take off the PCC and put on Specs you don't go from well geared to gimp, that's nonsense.

Its cumulative gear, as is anything else in this game. I have awful drop rates, but such is life, you keep trucking. Read earlier in the post, this is a gift from SE to make PCC so obtainable.

Bit of clarification -- You're not automatically 'a gimp' because you use Specs over PCC, but you are gimping yourself.

How are you "gimping yourself" for the item not dropping in a BC, that's what I'm not understanding? If it does't drop, you have no control, and thus cannot be gimping yourself.

To use the college example, that's like saying a student who is studying everyday and has gotten a tutor, but still doesn't quite get it is a poor student just because their work hasn't paid off yet.

It's fucking 2M gil. You're GIMPING yourself by not getting it. Christ.

Apparently this is needed. Why PCC blows Specs out of the water:

PCC -- LVL 33 -- Acc+10 RA+10 All Jobs
Specs- LVL 59 -- Acc+7 RA+7 Def 2 MNK WHM RDM THF BST BRD RNG SAM NIN BLU COR

1. Level difference. At lvl 33 there is very little acc gear available. At lvl 59 you have tons of acc gear available. That's 26 levels with 0 acc in that slot.
2. Basic attack build for nin or /nin consists of:Haste>ACC>Attack in general terms. You 'can' hit an acc or haste cap, but for most jobs it is difficult to do. How do you do the most? First equip all haste equip possible within reason. This is only pertinant post 50 as mentioned earlier. The reason Haste is #1? It is a DIRECT increase in damage, as it makes you attack X% faster. There is 0 haste available at any level for the neck. Thus, you make with acc in this slot because there is 10 acc available.
Following so far?
3. Accuracy is a Need, Haste and Att are enhancers.
Waist is the only other slot that has a 10 acc piece available pre B.kote for NIN, which I would place as a slightly tougher get than pcc. So you have to decide for Haste in the Waist or Acc. Haste wins out with Swift or Speed. Rings are the other slot for huge acc, as dual NQ Sniper's can give +10 acc. Hands go to Haste(upper level), Feet to Haste(post50). Legs obviously are Haste with Haidate. Head has the option of Haste or ACC with OH, and 5% is too much to turn down.
So it is possible to make up for the acc in later levels, but you must sacrifice Haste to do so. I would NEVER consider doing this. By limiting the amount of pieces you 'need' acc on, you can place more into the enhancements.
Solid places to fit the needed accuracy:
Hauby(+1) LVL59 -- +10(+12) acc -- Price Difference = 3,340,000
Specs(PCC) LVL59(33) -- +7(+10) acc -- Price Difference = 1,880,000
Sniper's(+1)x2 LVL40 -- +10(+14) acc -- Price Difference = 8,060,000x2

Total == +27(+36)acc

4. Price Difference (Shown Above)
While 3acc isn't a big deal, 9 acc is alot to make up. By solidifying the 'need' in 4 places, you are able to use the rest of equip on enhancements (Haste and attack+). Everything is cumulative in this game, and PCC is the Cheapest way to be closer to the high end. By not taking advantage of this, you are gimping yourself, plain and simple. In fact, you get the most advantage of the upper-tier gear at the lowest price difference.

Yes because everyone has 2M just lying around in their mog. I'll just keep doing the BC and using my Specs/Breeze until it drops.

If I was gay, I would ask to have buttsecks with Aaleel.

Hmm... These 'standard' pieces of equipment, as people say, are just them throwing their gloating e-peen around... More like an "I have it and you dont so you suck" kind of thing. If you notice, most of them are onry friends with the other people that have the exact same mind set.

There are no robin hoods in FFXI, just bitches

I dont quite understand why people cant accept the fact that this is a game, a game with hundreds of different gear sets, for each of the 75 levels. If the gear SOMEWHAT matches what that job is supposed to be doing, that should be good enough.

But wait, FFXI, seriuz biznez for da 1337 peeplz, gatta keep away from da low bro'z cuz dey taint my 1337ness. I r a workin man and/or woman, gatta sell mah gilz

I already mentioned this earlier. The disparity between the good players and the shitty players is blatent. The people who care respect others who care. The only retort to this is "Its a game, I do what i want"

You can keep that attitude if you want, but remember that without these 'elitests' allowing your kind on a DM run with us, you'd be missing one piece of equip you do have. We could have won without you, seeing as it was your 4th run there I don't think you could have won without us.

That's the point I've been making all thread. You have to 'work' for it...no one is going to give it to you.

And this is what makes you a shitty person. I am by no means a shitty player, at all, and I know Im not. I pity the fool who chooses to damn a person by his gear and not who he is or how he plays or what effort he puts forth.

You, my friend, are a pompous jackass

Bolded for emphasis.

I'm a pompous jackass, but as I mentioned earlier, just because you don't like how I'm saying it doesn't mean it shouldn't be said.
