Bad Red Mages?

Jesus man, let it go. I said already that I had a mix-up. I was not confused, and was not corrected by Lucki -- he said the exact same thing I did, but in different terms. We had a private discussion and came to the understanding that "hey, we said the same thing but in different words".

When cast in the order of 1) Dia II + 2) Bio I, Dia II will not overwrite Bio I. End-of-story. I don't care if Bio won't get it's DoT off at all, that's not what I'm worried about.

And what the hell does Klimaform have to do with a thread about career Red Mages?

BTW: This thread's not worth my time or effort anymore, I'm out. Best of luck to you, Whimsey.
That's the thing, Dia II will overwrite Bio I in that case, as it is the stronger spell. Yes, you'll still get Dark Magic skill ups, but that's because of a whole different reason.

Dia II wouldn't overwrite Bio in that case. To overwrite it, Bio would have to be on first.

overwrite
verb
write new data on top of existing data and thus erase the previously existing data; "overwrite that file"

Tristam has a clear understanding of Bio v. Dia and what will overwrite what. I can't say for certain he did before this thread because I hadn't ever discussed it with him, but I know he does now just from reading his posts.

Can we drop this now, please? I'm sure the OP understand all about Bio and Dia now, too, so there isn't really a point. If you want to have a discussion about those two spells only, let's make a new thread for that.

ok, let me clarify. Dia will still be on as it takes priority. When he say dia will not overwrite bio, he makes it sound like bio will be on instead. Which it won't. He said that dia will not overwrite bio. If he knew the priority, he'd write bio won't overwrite.

If that's what he ment, then he chose to word it bad not only once, but three times. I simply meant to clarify, as the information he wrote is contradicting, which was my point.

This.

1 - This isn't your thread.

2 - Everyone seems to understand the difference. We've already been over your points. You're beating a dead horse.

3 - Its misinformation. Unless you're referring to someone named Miss Information.

1) Last I checked, it isn't yours either. And you, me, Tristram and Whimsey aren't the only ones reading this. Might be other RDM's looking for information.

2) Yes, everyone that speak up might. Once again, just because some do doesn't mean all do.

3) Clever. However, I wrote that on Ipod Touch. It isn't exactly the best thing to write on, and it is easy to accidentally press some letters more then once, or even press the one beside it.

I lol'd.

I'm not a career RDM by any means, But isn't this logic fairly simple in the fact that a lower tier spell never overwrites another?

for example: Protect I fails to overwrite Protect II, same with utsu ichi/ni.

..?

After reading through the thread, I'd like to add how mobs under the dark element do not fall for sleep spells. All undead do not sleep (Ghouls and Ghosts and things of that nature) and as mentioned by Bluefrost, the Imp does not fall for sleep. Never cast sleep on them cause it's no good, keep them well silenced, paralyzed, slow, Dia.

With a good amount of MP ready, RDM can tank for 1 round.

In the event of an Imp managing to take down the tank, the best coarse of action is to let the RDM take all the hate. Chainspell cure to those who need it, cast Aquaveil and pop 1 or 2 hard nukes on the Imp. The Imp will come for you, keep up all enfeebling and continue to maintain stoneskin with Phalanx and put up a blink when you have nothing better to do, but always maintain that refresh cycle, and forget about the haste cycle in this critical moment, only keep Haste on yourself.

After a few minutes, When you need to convert, announce that you will convert soon ahead of time if there is anyone in the PT that can cast cure, in my experiences the second i convert after announcing it ahead of time, i see my HP sky rocket when i do convert. Even though you can convert and heal by yourself, it's still better to have that extra cure from a PT member in this case. Cause you'll need to keep up the enfeebling and enhancing. Let the Imp hit some of the others if you need a few seconds, but take back the hate.

Chances are you'll die, but the RDM is better at tanking than any other Non tank class job, and RDM can buy more time for the surviving PT members to give it their all.

actually you can sleep dark mobs...it's just takes a lot of gap between the target and your own ability even then it's not easy, but possible.

however there are some mobs to make note of and resistances/immunities

scorps- poison
imps- silence

there are more but i can't think offhand the rest; about demons the beastmen mobs they do not seem to be very "affliated" with dark elements as they sleep very easily while the antica which are dual earth and dark have a higher resistance.

That's true. Paralyze II with a Wind staff would be the best prevention attempt from an Imps Magic. They are so resistant to sleep, i wouldn't say it's the most reliable form of saving the day.

EIDT: That's Ice Staff, not Wind Staff.

They may be resistant, but you can sleep Imps. Very rarely. I wish I SS'd the one time I did, and Repose which came right after from the Whm had no effect... Silence is also unreliable on them, but once again, not impossible. That being said, Imps just plain suck to enfeeble in the first place, And I would avoid them if at all possible. Colibri, on the other hand, make nice slow targets, since you can just haste the slowed person (if they're not already being hasted), and it won't work anymore (Haven't checked for Slow II, but I believe it overwrites).

If the Imp is far enough, you can also try binding it for some time, but be wary since it will resort to casting those Thundaga's it favors so much.

And don't you mean Ice/Aquilo's Staff for Paralyze II (or Wind/Auster's for Silence, not sure what you're trying to say)?

Yes it is Ice. Excuse me for that mistake, I haven't played for 7 months and when i think about Paralyze, I'm seeing a green orb next to it for some reason. Silence and Gravity are the only 2 enfeebling spells that fall under Wind.

Watch out Ant. Uzor will be coming for you next!

No, he excused himself, so no misinformation was spread.

Btw, imps aren't that hard tp sleep. Yes, they are resistant being dark based, but at 75 you can sleep them rather reliably.

ghosts are pretty easy to sleep, iirc; skeletons, on the other hand, are not.

Necrosis is a terrible RDM

Proof: Duo Jailer of Fortitude, I die, I throw on RR and Utsusemi Ichi and I have hate.
