Only thing I dislike about Brenner are those damn postens, it's like quitich or however it's spelled in harry potter, with that big ball flying around and knocking everyone out. Those damned things kill more people than the players do lol.

PvP sucks since the multi-hit nerf.
End of story.

Creating brenner ligas and hosting matches through out the server sounds like a good idea in my opinion.

Its easier to manage since SE already implemented this into the system.
Also the goal in the game is not heavily relied on the stuff you wear, the crap you bring, the amount of people you ambush or gang up on, or doing one on ones. It actually involves a little more strategy. Senseless killing actually could mess up your team. I've seen many people run into that mistake, and you'd be surprised the quick turn around for the other team.

I see Brenner as a little bit more like Chess, and its fun when played full-scale with lots of people. It also involves strategy. Strategies which you can always have some kind of manipulation over if your team works together.

As for a Ballista league, it would require more work to put it together.
The game does not consist of any system where you are merited for your performance as a team.

Only live matches people get recognition through cheverons, points scored, titles, etc. But its all "individual" (me, me, me).

Ballista kinda is a bash-em/beat-em with some strategy to it but not all matches have it. Then again it matters on the players too, and objectives at hand.

I've played some Ballistas where we had to think a little, but nowadays matches tend to be involved with people who just wanna show off their gear and gang up on ya.

A sense of control would be needed with these matches.
Unlike Brenner, in Ballista people have high tendancies of getting emotional.

I'd say if a Ballista league is created, it should be ruled professionally just like any other sport. Stuff out of line would not be tolerated; and would perhaps lower you in the rank books to face someone for a championship title.

It may be the only way people we will learn to look out for our team-mates, and not for ourselves only.

Disciplined PvP is fun too ya know.

Cap 60 no subjobs if you want a skill based league that shows more teamwork then anything else. SE knew what they were doing when they set up Royale by making it 60 cap with no subjobs.

No cap with subjobs on if you want to see people run out there and solo entire teams with their gear. Yes, it is fun to run out there and ego trip with all your badass gear, but as soon as you realize you are winning because of your gear and/or you borken job combintaion, you realize how unfun it really is.

Nothing, and I mean nothing, beats knowing you won not because of an advantage you have over them, but because you are just plain better then them. And there is no excuse they can make to say otherwise.

What is Brenner?

I can't remember the last time since royale I actually played seriously in Ballista. Square really needs to fix auto-balancing to not randomly shuffle jobs around, etc. What made Royale actually good was the fact that you could only have 1 of a given job per team at a given time.

The other thing that really needs to be looked at is individual job balancing. Some jobs in ballista are just a liability/useless no matter how hard they try.

Do I honestly think Square will fix any of that in the near future..or well, ever? No.

edit: The point was that I don't really think a "league" is worthwhile simply because the balancing is so screwed up.

You can't say 3 melee and 3 mages only.
That's rediculous.

You are the first person to speak against it, what would you perfer? Instead of just attacking, discuss it.

Just whatever the team chooses.
I personally would like 5 BLM 1 BRD.

You called 3 mage, 3 melee ridiculous, and this is your counter to a better idea?

Heh, besides, 5 BLM and BRD would get wasted before they could do a single thing to anyone that used poison potions, as Kira said.

So when we ballista-ing cythe
i need a "Cythe was defeated by Kirayamato" as a sig
:)

Edit:- Bah no need... i found this in my folder

I won't lie, I can most likely count on my hands how many times I have done Ballista so my opinion may or may not matter. (Also, this coming as a White Mage experience... uncapped and in the Ghelsba zone)

Things that turned me off to Ballista:

Off balanced teams. You were either winning or you were losing to the extreme. There was no real in between with the exception of a few times (those being the times that were the most enjoyable).

Getting up and dying again over and over again. I guess this being the down-side of being on the losing team but still a waste of 30 mins or however long the match is. With this in mind-- teams for the league will most likely create this result anyway. Your veterans will stomp over any novice teams regardless of gear or jobs. Maybe suggest making a list of those who want to do a QCDN sponcered league and pair up vets with rookies like myself.

You have two types of players (well 3).. Those who have never done Ballista and those who do Ballista all of the time. The third type being those who do it occassionally but usually would lean to one extreme or the other. For those with minimal to no experience with Ballista it can be a turn-off at the start. (Refer back to the comment on raising and dying over and over again.)

What I liked:

The team sport of it. Setting up strats and implimenting them. Randomly throwing off people's shadows and silencing them and tossing in a Cure V from out of no where and completely changing the odds of the fight. Fun stuff. Usually only seemed to find this enjoyment when the teams were balanced. Though, that's my two cents others I am sure find more enjoyment on simply adding more kills under the belt.

Uncapped seems to appeal to me more due to the fact I don't want to get a whole new set of gear to participate and I'm sure others feel the same.

I think Marienkind was trying to set something like this up at one time. I'd recommend talking with her about this idea. Though, if you are looking into widening your player base I'd greatly advice not to put all your all-stars on one team and your rookies on other teams or you're just going to have a lot of hack'n'slash but that really depends on what you're aiming for.

And setting up a code of ethics/sportsmanship would be a good idea.

Anyhoo that's my two cents.

Ballad + Ballad II » Nuking » Ballad + Ballad II » Nuking and so on and so forth. Alot that will do. Yea, nuking does alot, but it can only get you so far. If a group of melee have some high resists, and TP, they are gonna come at you like monkeys chasing bannanas

hell i am never afraid of blms if my poison is up.
chances are i can sprint and be too far for blm to cast or interrupt his casting through melee-ing
it will get far if melees are unprepared but i don't think ballista veterans will fall to this.
