Perhaps because Radical Right-Wing policies are often counter-productive to peace?

Hitler being nominated means nothing. You're grasping at straws. Big, Hitler-flavored straws.
Tom, at this point I have no fucking clue what you're talking about.
Of course it does. It shows how they can make the WORST possible choices. Hitler was nominated for the prize because of the politics of the era. Absolutely NO DIFFERENCE why Obama was nominated now. He hasn't done jack shit for peace. Iraq War. CHECK. Afgan War. CHECK (and getting worse). Hell fucking Gitmo is even still open.
Even Obama knows he doesn't deserve it. He's just too much of an egomanic to turn it away.
No, it really doesn't say anything except how eager you are to put Hitler and Obama in the same sentence. You can nominate anyone you like for a prize. That has nothing to do with the eventual winner. Hitler being nominated means nothing. You're grasping at straws. Big, Hitler-flavored straws.
"If I must choose between peace and righteousness, I choose righteousness." - Theodore Roosevelt

Chocolate Jesus can do no wrong! His two weeks of work(Yeah right, work eyeroll.gif) obviously deserved being nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize! I mean; Stalin, Hitler, and Mussolini have been nominated aswell. Those that do the nominating sure have their head on their shoulders, and not up their ass.
He won the Noble Peace Prize too.
Like Tomasello, you're trying to equate being nominated for an award and actually being seriously considered for it or even winning it. They are not the same. That's like saying Mickey Mouse was a viable presidential candidate because some schmuck added him as a write-in candidate.
There are plenty of arguments for why Obama shouldn't have won it, or to minimize the Nobel Peace Prize's importance. "How peaceful can it be if they gave one to Henry Kissinger?" would be a fine question to ask. "Who cares what five Norwegians think?" would be another. You'd at least be using some logic; however, you can't gain rhetorical traction by just saying "Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize. Adolph Hitler was once nominated for it."
There's no inference to make, and there's no argument to be had, other than "I really like having the words "Obama" and "Hitler" in the same sentence." It makes Tomasello (and, apparently, you) look completely clueless.
I don't know who nominated Obama for the award, and I don't really care. He was one out of 205 nominees. I'm sure there were crackpots and warmongers in the pool who were immediately discarded. Are you seriously going to give their nomination the same weight as the people who were seriously considered?
I'm surprised someone would nominate him two weeks into his presidency. Keep in mind they didn't vote for the winner the day the nomination phase ended. They've had months to watch his progress and consider it.
He won the Noble Peace Prize too.
Teddy Roosevelt was also an imperialist who bullied Japan by parking the American Navy offshore as a way of opening diplomatic relations--he won the peace prize for ramrodding a treaty ending the Russo-Japanese War down the Japanese's throats, limiting their territorial gains and increasing Japanese frustration at their own lack of imperial holdings, which would end up being a factor in World War II.
Woodrow Wilson won the "peace" prize for helping to frame the Treaty of Versailles ending World War I, one of the most punitive and crushing treaties of all time, ANOTHER factor in promoting World War II.
The Nobel Prize can be a joke and is often politically motivated--but it's European politics, not American ones. This prize was IMO the Europeans sending George W. Bush a big fat "fuck you".
I made an argument as to why he shouldn't have won, but apparently you were too busying defending Chocolate Jesus to see it.
Tomasello equated Hitler's nomination with Obama's win. I said that made no sense. You came back at me with "Chocolate Jesus can do no wrong!" and also equated being nominated with being a winner.
I don't have a problem with any of your actual arguments -- Gitmo, wiretapping, the wars that are still going on -- and have said throughout the two threads that I also think it's a premature win for Obama. I'm objecting to Tomasello's nonsense of equating a Hitler nomination with an Obama win, and your "Chocolate Jesus" retort certainly seemed to be supporting his viewpoint.
Please show me where I said "NOMINATED = WINNING".

Here's where you did it:
You said it in response to my statement to Tomasello that being nominated does not equal winning. It's not a huge leap to assume you were agreeing with Tom.
