if you have a bar spell says IE barfire and you MB fire would do more damage with barfire on it or not just that that elemental lv has gone up like 60
 
Barspells effect your defense vs that element, not your offensive skills with it.

Rather, no, with Barfire you wouldn't nuke for more with Fire/Flare, you'd simply have a higher resist rate if you yourself were hit with it.
 
Yeah, Mish has it right, they only relate to your defense against that element. Things that increase the offensive potential of the spells would be weather, day, those elemental obi's(with the corresponding day) and elemental staves.

Barspells do jack shit in this game. I remember when I was leveling my BST on bombs and gobs in several places, barfira did jack shit. At first I used it because I thought it saved my ass a few times but then I realized that its all random luck (not all luck with bombs).

Have you ever seen anyone wear Elemental + armor? Nope... cause it does jack shit.

Its one of those SE inside jokes (i.e. Treasure Hunter)... everyone thinks these things in the game work while SE laughs behind our backs.
 
Bar spells won't do much on your BST because your enhancing magic comes purely from the sub. It's a totally different story if you main WHM or RDM. Barfira saves people a lot of headaches in places like Bibiki Bay and against NINs in Dynamis.

Barfira from a 62RDM with capped Enhancing vs no barfira
Gob doing 130-170... to 500+..
Ask my fiance... 700+ per pt member cause barfira wasnt up... compared to HIGHER gobs that are doing... 100? 110? with it ^^ <3 Barspells
 
i seen a gob aoe for 1300 on my pld lucky i had 1500 HP :P
 
I resist Byakkos paralyzga ability 95% of the time with Barblizzara and Barparalyzra, so yeah. They help a whole fucking lot.
 
and in lab of onoz they help been exping for 25hrs now 58-62 boo yeah and 1 HNM and 2 NMs :P
all drop :P

lol goto an Avatar Prime fight without bar-spells and tell me how it goes ^.< Basically your barspells are not that effective since your enhancing magic only comes from your sub.
