Bekki Ditches

At jungle levels, if one person uses an Anniversary Ring charge and others don't, they're half a level higher relative to the rest, than they were beforehand. That's more than 3-4 mobs. Again, benefit if they're lowbie in the party and no real harm if they're near the average, but in a party where they're the highest, where the level spread is painful enough as it is, and making that *worse*? C'mon, that's just stupidity.

Again, the Whm was 1k from leveling. That's 5 mobs w/o an exp ring, 3-4 mobs with it. So you are looking at the Whm hitting 29 ONE to TWO mobs sooner! XP is NOT affected anymore at 29.5 compared to 29.3, 29.2, etc. The point is that it is affected once the highest hits 29 and will stay at that base until the highest hits 30. Again, in this scenario, we are talking of getting to that point ONE or TWO mobs sooner. If I remember correctly, base xp at level 28 on Yhoater Mandies is 200. At 29, it falls to 192-200, which is not the end of the world. I will say it again, it affected xp no different if she got to 29.5 quicker than she normally would have.

If the event of "highest person levels and exp goes to crap" is going to happen, it's going to happen. Yes. There's no reason whatsoever to go out of your way to make it happen *sooner*. Particularly because often parties will disband, or move around, or find replacement members, when that happens, in order to get the party once again getting good exp. That takes away from exp/hr, particularly if it results in disbanding. Why do we want to hurry up this event happening again? (Not to mention, if the party disbands before the exp band's done doing its work, there's the implied risk that you may waste that by having the Dedication wear off due to time instead of exp.)

If somebody lower is going to disband because the highest person leveled, the party probably wasn't all that good to begin with. Additionally, a half used dedication charge is better than not using it at all.

The high person's using the band and worsening the exp rate, affects the entire party's exp, including their own, which you seem to have overlooked. That's why I said that, at best, it'll end up cancelling out (for exp/hr) for the person who did it *during* the exp band, and then it'd be the same negative effect that everyone else got, once it wore off.

See my first response in the post. Your math is very fuzzy. The only scenario where your math begins to make sense is for a party that stays together for 4-5 levels, which is only going to happen in a good party and a good party will overcome this very easily. Additionally, you've already shown reason why this wasn't a good party to begin with.

And that's called being shortsighted - short term improvement at the cost of long term detriment. If you want to encourage that and only look at short term improvement, by all means, feel free, but I hope you don't mind if I assign you a mental label called "myopic".

Once again, this is a PICKUP PARTY, there isn't a long term ANYTHING. Call me myopic if you want, I'll call you thick-headed because you still aren't getting it. You seem like a reasonably intelligent guy, which make me think that you either are a friend of the OP or an enemy of this bekki person.

It's all fun and games until you're the one being flamed.

People get flamed for a reason. So of course if someone calls you doing something stupid then its not really going to be fun.

Do you even know what an Anniversary Ring does? It's not a basic xp ring, it doubles the xp you're getting, so it wouldn't go from 5 mobs to 4, lol. It also gives you a straight 3000xp after it wears, which at lvl 29-30 is all but another whole level. Of course this is a moot point since whomever was playing Bekki, along with yourself, don't seem to consider low level pts as important or whatever since you're so willing to support dinging and ditching at lower levels. I forgot that the rules don't apply when it's "only a pickup pt". Douche.

There's more trivial stuff posted here every day--a good example is you and Lec flirting it up after this post, or anything involving Shyrra being a whore.

Want me to flirt w/you too? <3

And idk Shyrra rly, but he seems to be quite the slut around these parts.

They say he's cute stuff too.

I mean, I'm made of pure concentrated hotness but the slutteries of this Shyrra intrigue me.

Btw, tough noogies about the Bekki thing.

Don't want a bad rep on your toon, don't loan it.

Oh and yeah, the friend defense never goes out of style.

Depends who your friends are and how much pull they have to see how far a friend defense will go. ;o

Oh, and apparently Alanon too, who is defending someone who had already planned to ditch a pt in advance without any warning after they dinged. If he's defending this, I can only assume he would do the same thing and would also be a waste of my time.

As for the topic of the xp band, this game isn't rocket science, when people get way ahead in xp, it causes problems. Either the slows for decent xp are slow because of the oddball or the kills are for shitty xp since that's all the pt can kill and the oddball just gimps it. You can't have both. If you aren't planning to ditch a pt (which this girl/guy playing her account was planning to do), then it's not smart to use an xp band charge if you know it's going to fuck with the pt's ability to chain for good xp, especially an anniversary ring that will basically give you a whole extra level at those lower levels. I swear, you think people at lvl 75 would remember how to play at lower levels but apparently not.

If she planned to ditch, that's one thing. To me, it could easily be interpretted as she was sick of the whinning about the damn ring. Look at the chat log again. It's not until the OP starts whinning yet again about "gapping" the party that the Whm offers to leave. Followed by more whinning and the Whm disbanding. The fact that she left and joined another party leaves two good possiblities: Either she was sick of being whinned at and left (which I would of done, because whinning annoys me) -OR- the party friggan sucked anyway (which I usually stick it out myself, but I better not hear most of qcdn whine about that).

As for your second paragraph, please don't pull that holier-than-thou, peregrin-like BS with me. I've been around long enough that I don't deserve that and would prefer to keep this discussion civil and not degrade to name calling.

So we're in agreement that you support ding and ditching a party and that you don't know how an Anniversary Ring works? Okay. As for the rest, it was obvious she was planning to leave the pt. How do you think she already had another one lined up to join when she used her Anniversary Ring to hurry up and get that level before dinging? The right thing in this situation would've been to tell the pt she was leaving in 10-15 minutes, giving them time to find a rep, and then if she really wanted to, use the ring since she'd already told the pt she was leaving. She didn't none of this.

You know it. (Letters.)

Hey baby, wanna make one?

;o

...wait, what's wrong with this picture?

Hm, nice shoes...

Yeah that works. ;D

i thought that 'Maximum bonus: 3000' meant that the 'Experience point bonus: +100%' extra XP you get caps at 3000 onry, and didnt give you an initial 3000XP when the charge wears... or did i completely miss something

I can't stop staring at the armpit hair in your avatar.

As an aside to Alanon, Bekki clearly had another party lined up to jump to at a moment's notice, which seems kind of suspect.

He IS Supermeng, awe-inspiring armpit hair is of his Cuban heritage, being from Hialeah and all.

You are right, I don't know what the Anniversary ring does. But lets do the Math.

Assuming 1k tnl. 1000/200xp/kill = 5 kills to level. With ring, 1K/(200xp/kill X 2)
= 2.5 or 3 mobs to level. A whole 2 mobs! You are right though, I didn't understand the anniversary ring thing. 3000 added on would fuck it up. For that part I do appologize, but I STILL lay it at the feet at the feet of the original poster. He is the party leader. It is unfair to assemble a party, then pop rings and ask the Whm not to. The fault in the Whm is in agreeing to the party in the first place.

I mean, let's be real here, this is a Whm that can get a party fairly easily. You can get away with asking a Drg to agree to this, but not a Whm. It was the poor planning of the leader that led to this, this should not have come as a surprise.

As far as the douche comment, you can bit my ass you two bit crack whore. See? I can do it too!

Nope, don't know the specifics of the ring, but if you read again, nowhere did I support dinging and ditching. I said I would ditch a party if it was obnoxious (which you can't tell me you wouldn't do) and I stick it out if it were a bad party(which most wouldn't and don't). Why are you attacking my character again? I wish you'd stop because not only is it a pathetic way to debate, but it's really obnoxious.

I'm actually arguing the point "in general" (or perhaps slightly more specifically, "in the jungles"). I'm not really too concerned with this specific situation, how soon they would've levelled anyway, whether it's a level gained that doesn't affect base exp (because you're overhunting anyway) or a level gained that does (because you're at the point of chaining really fast for okay exp, but one more level means you're chaining really fast for crap exp).

In other words, I'm arguing a general concept, not a specific situation, and not really *this* specific situation. If you have such a hard time separating the notion of talking about stuff in general rather than in specifics, within the same topic (and by the fact that I'm talking in general and you're acting as if I'm talking about these specific circumstances, apparently you *are* having trouble with that separation), I'd be happy to make a separate topic to discuss exp/hr mechanics in its own right.

Said concept applies to good parties and bad parties, it applies to pickups and statics. Exp per kill and exp per hour math is commonly known (though I do appreciate the demonstration for how it's not commonly *fully understood*), and any advice that stems from that math is good advice in general.

You can come up with plenty of exceptions: if a party's overhunting for 200 a kill, someone dings, and you're still getting 200 a kill, no harm done. (At least, not at the time. If the party stays together for a few more levels after that, *then* you'll see the effects.) The existence of exceptions when it doesn't matter, in no way invalidates what's good advice in general. The point you're making is fine and I'll grant it - in this particular case, it didn't amount to much. But you're citing an exception, and that doesn't counter the argument in general.

Oh and, as far as this topic goes: slimy to leave with no notice, shortsighted (whether it happened to matter at that level on those mobs at that time, or not) in general regarding exp ring timing, and unimpressive explanation of reasoning, are my opinions of Bekki.

More interesting to me, was that the flame gave me an opportunity to blather on, with some words of wisdom and common sense, about both gameplay mechanics and efficient use of time (both your own and, for those who aren't completely selfish dicks, that of party members as well).

So it is totally fine to treat people differently based on what job they choose to level? A WHM is allowed to be an asshole based solely on the fact that they are a WHM, while say a DRG has to be perfect and catering to everyone else's needs in every possible way or else?

I think we need more flames on this type of person. Because personally I'm sick and bloody tired of the whole "I'm a WHM make me happy or fuck off" mentality that has been steadily pouring into this game for quite some time now. Level a job you enjoy, don't level a job just because you are going to get invites like crazy. The only thing that is going to accomplish is making you a burnt out player who hates playing the game but for some reason does because they have responsibilities or whatever to their dynamis,HNM,endgame shell.

Don't misunderstand me, I agree with you. But in THIS SPECIFIC CASE, what was being asked in general is kind of shitty. I was simply stating that you are more likely to get away with it with a job more desperate to get a party and that the leader shouldn't be surprised when you ask a high demand job to do something shitty and they bail.
