Best Buy BS.

Fucking Best Buy...so I find a dvd that seems pretty spiffy, I, being a consumer, take said dvd to the register to pay. After 10 mins of the cashier bumbling to try and ring up the dvd, a manager is brought in, understandable, knowing the complexity of it all. After another 10 mins, (alternate BB and me)

"I'm sorry we cannot sell you this dvd, we cannot find a price in our system.."

"Oh!? What about that big red sticker that says $19.99? Do you think that could be the price?"

"It is not appearing in our system, therefore it is not our merchandise..."

"What do you mean it's not your merchandise? I got it from your damn dvd section..."

"I'm sorry, we cannot sell you this dvd..."

"What the fuck do you mean? It says 19.99, ring it up 19.99...heres a 20"

"Please lower your voice, we are incapable of ringing up this item..."

At this point I flipped the fuck out, grabbed the dvd and wung it across the store...

"Hey, what are you doing!? do not throw our dvd..."

"Buuuullshit, it is not yooooour merchandise, therefore I did not throw yooooour dvd"

Quite loud I was at this point, created a nice scene, they called the cops, I shouted rogaine and monoxadil(sp?) jokes to the bald dumbass manager as I took my leave before the black and whites showed up...Fucking Best Buy

So basically you're an asshole who likes to give a hard time to minimum wage tellers and make their life miserable?

If you truly are worth more, why not find a job that pays what you feel, that is if they feel you are worth it as well? When they ask you the question "What does customer service mean"? Are you going to say "Uh, well, Uhm I work at best buy so we just let the customers service themselves"? That could be why you still work where you do lol.

I don't work at Best Buy because it's the only job I can get. I work there because it's what fits into my life right now, due to some very unfortunate circumstances with my entire family. I have my reasons, and they are very good reasons.

Also, I'm assuming this was directed at me since you quoted me and are saying "you." I'm not sure where you got the idea that I give piss poor customer service. Sure, I only make $16 an hour, but I do a good job and have done only my best to help every single customer I've ever dealt with.

Did you even read this thread? Just curious.

That statement was actually directed at anyone not liking thier jobs or who feel they don't have to do their job but still want to get paid for it. I don't always like my job but I do it. I get paid well for it.

If I wanted to take a major paycut and be an automaton I would go work for Fry's and get a job as a cashier for $16 an hour but, that job lacks challenge. If you have ever been to one of these places you will see that these people ring someone up, turn on their green light, someone else directs you towards the green light, they ring you up and you are on your way.

Not a bad way of making $16 an hour but also not my cup of tea which is why, well, I don't do it and lets be honest here it's not like any company tricks anyone about their earnings. It's not like you go in do all this work and don't know what your pay is till you get your first paycheck and as you go "WTF"? Management jumps out and says "Gotcha Bitch"!!!!

How can you be disillusioned with your job/pay if you know what you are getting into? I mean you did apply for it. In FFXI terms it would be a PLD or NIN in party going, "Fuck, I really hate to tank but at least I get parties this way".

ur computer running slow, eh? maybe this can help..

To increase system performance

Right click my computer. Click properties.
Click advanced.
Click settings (under performance).
Click Adjust for best performance.
Scroll to the bottom and check the last one “use visual styles on windows and buttons”.

These Settings will fine tune your systems memory

You need at least 256MB of ram to do this:

Go to start\run\regedit -and then to the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management

1.DisablePagingExecutive -double click it and in the decimal put a 1 - this allows XP to keep data in memory now instead of paging sections of ram to harddrive yeilds faster performance.

2.LargeSystemCache- double click it and change the decimal to 1 -this allows XP Kernal to Run in memory and improves system performance a lot.

3.Create a new dword and name it IOPageLockLimit - double click it and set the value in hex - 4000 if you have 128MB of ram or set it to 10000 if you have 256MB set it to 40000 if you have more than 512MB of ram -this tweak will speed up your disckcache.

Reboot

Tweak The Swap File

For Users with 256 MB RAM or more this tweak will boost their Windows- and Game-Performance.
What it does: It tells Windows not to use any Swap File until there is really no more free RAM left.

Open the System Configuration Utility by typing msconfig.exe in the RUN command. There in your System.ini you have to add "ConservativeSwapfileUsage=1" under the 386enh section.

Restart your Windows and enjoy better Game performance

Disable Services

XP Pro runs a lot of services by default that are pointless if your not on a corporate network, the following services are ones that I safely disable thereby freeing up memory but check what each one does first to make sure your not using it for something:

Go to Run and type services.msc, right click on each service, properties and choose disable.

Alerter
Application Layer Gateway Service,
Application Management
Automatic Updates
Background Intelligent Transfer
Clipbook
Distributed Link Tracking Client
Distributed Transaction Coordinater
Error Reporting Service
Fast User Switching Compatibility
IMAPI CD-Burning
Indexing Service
IPSEC Services
Messenger
Net Logon
Net Meeting
Remote Desktop Sharing
Network DDE
Network DDE DSDM
Portable Media Serial Number
Remote Desktop Help Session Manager
Remote Registry
Secondary Logon
Smartcard
SSDP Discovery Service
Telnet Themes
Uninterruptible Power Supply
Universal Plug and Play Device Host
Upload Manager
Webclient
Wireless Zero Configuration
WMI Performance Adaptor

Speed Up The File System

NTFS is a great file system, but its feature-set comes at a slight cost in performance. You can negate this a little with the following tips:

* By default NTFS will automatically update timestamps whenever a directory is traversed. This isn't a necessary feature, and it slows down large volumes. Disable it by going to Run and type regedit:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem and set 'DisableNTFSLastAccessUpdate' to 1.

* NTFS uses disparate master file control tables to store filesystem information about your drives. Over time these core MFT files grow and become fragmented, slowing down all accesses to the drive. By setting aside a little space, MFT's can grow without becoming fragmented.

In the same key where you disabled the last access feature creat a new DWORD value called 'NtfsMftZoneReservation' and set it to 2.

Disable DLL Caching

Windows Explorer caches DLLs (Dynamic-Link Libraries) in memory for a period of time after the application using them has been closed. This can be an inefficient use of memory.

1. Find the key [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer].

2. Create a new DWORD sub-key named 'AlwaysUnloadDLL' and set the default value to equal '1' to disable Windows caching the DLL in memory.

3. Restart Windows for the change to take effect.

Tweak The Prefetch

1. Run "Regedit"
2. Goto [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\PrefetchParameters\EnablePrefetcher]

3. Set the value to either 0-Disable, 1-App launch prefetch, 2-Boot Prefetch, 3-Both ("3" is recommended).

4. Reboot.

It will decrease the boot time but double and increase the performance of your XP.

SpeedUp Your Connection By 20% (Cable Users Only)

1.Log on as "Administrator".
2. Run - gpedit.msc
3. Expand the "Local Computer Policy" branch.
4. Then expand the "Administrative Templates" branch.
5. Expand the "Network" branch.
6. Highlight the "QoS Packet Scheduler" in left pane.
7. In the right window pane double-click the "Limit Reservable Bandwidth" setting.
8. On the settings tab check the "Enabled" item.
9. Change "Bandwidth limit %" to read 0.
10. Then go to your Network connections Start=>Control Panel>Network & Internet connections>Network Connections and right-click on your connection. Then under the General or the Networking tab, (where it lists your protocols) make sure QoS packet scheduler is enabled.

It may take effect immediately on some systems. To be sure, just re-boot.

Actually, true story there cupcake...and I was quite nice to the minimal wage teller, it wasnt until the manager came over that i blew up...and that anecdote was just the fucking coolest wasnt it? (sarcasm, probably necessary to point that out) No reason to make some dumb shit like that up...

What is the point in flipping out and damaging merchandise just because you don't understand their system and how an item can potentially fall out of it? If it was me I'd have had you detained by security and have the cops put it on your record.

When dealing with stores what people tend to forget is what rights they don't have. If I want I can refuse to sell you a perfectly legit product for no other reason than I don't like your face. There are some industries with codes and standards set, but when you want into an electronic store, it's their store, their policy and their decision on what they will or will not sell you, and at what price they please.

Now if somewhere in their policy it states somewhere on how to sell products not in their system, if not, you lose, get the fuck out, grab a version of the product they do sell or leave and go somewhere else.
