I have alot of good GM conversations, leading to interesting and funny outcomes, but ths is by far one of the best.
So I was bored, just had Amemet stolen from me and a couple people, whatever. I make a GM call to talk about all around Kuftal RMT monopolization of the multiple money-making sources there. And how banning the distributors of gil only creates deflation but doesn't stop footsoldiers from closing off the money making sources from legit players.
I was on ps2 so unfortunately have no screenshots of the conversation with [GM]Xsomething (happened a few hours ago).
So we argue/talk with each other for probably a good 25 minutes about how it is easy to investigate these RMT via ingame monetary transactions to STF identified distributors of gil. About how SE fails to take action about the most blatant violations until someone takes it into their power to get past the games encryption and d/c whole zones with fishbots. How it is nearly impossible to get information of what SE actually does to help stop gilsellers, and how to get ahold of detailed information about bannings. Basically, how they have very little transparency into their practices. It was a nice debate, sarcasm abound on my side while he tries to come up with some sort of placating.
In the end he said he would try to direct people's attention onto Kuftal more where it wasn't, whether he does or not, whatever. I think he will just because I wasn't being an asshole and he said he was surprised that I knew how things worked there lol. I wish I had the chatlogs because there were some pretty funny moments, IE him talking about gil-buying and gil-selling being a Catch-22, which was a bad misinterpretation of that term, was actually the exact opposite.
Reason this was so good was at the end he appeared, we talked in say, laughed at GS near me and played catch in the sand lizard pit. Dead serious, I'd tell him to go long and he'd run away and just be like "open, open!". Had me laughing in my chair.
Cussing GM's out and going ape shit on them makes them just yawn and forget about you. Actually approaching them intelligently, but to a degree aggressively gets you a lot farther with them, or at least makes them enjoy their job a little more and more likely to give a shit about your complaint. Yet, the worst thing is, as I mentioned, SE's customer service practices are so untransparent its hard to tell if you are ever getting anything done.
