I have alot of good GM conversations, leading to interesting and funny outcomes, but ths is by far one of the best.

So I was bored, just had Amemet stolen from me and a couple people, whatever. I make a GM call to talk about all around Kuftal RMT monopolization of the multiple money-making sources there. And how banning the distributors of gil only creates deflation but doesn't stop footsoldiers from closing off the money making sources from legit players.

I was on ps2 so unfortunately have no screenshots of the conversation with [GM]Xsomething (happened a few hours ago).

So we argue/talk with each other for probably a good 25 minutes about how it is easy to investigate these RMT via ingame monetary transactions to STF identified distributors of gil. About how SE fails to take action about the most blatant violations until someone takes it into their power to get past the games encryption and d/c whole zones with fishbots. How it is nearly impossible to get information of what SE actually does to help stop gilsellers, and how to get ahold of detailed information about bannings. Basically, how they have very little transparency into their practices. It was a nice debate, sarcasm abound on my side while he tries to come up with some sort of placating.

In the end he said he would try to direct people's attention onto Kuftal more where it wasn't, whether he does or not, whatever. I think he will just because I wasn't being an asshole and he said he was surprised that I knew how things worked there lol. I wish I had the chatlogs because there were some pretty funny moments, IE him talking about gil-buying and gil-selling being a Catch-22, which was a bad misinterpretation of that term, was actually the exact opposite.

Reason this was so good was at the end he appeared, we talked in say, laughed at GS near me and played catch in the sand lizard pit. Dead serious, I'd tell him to go long and he'd run away and just be like "open, open!". Had me laughing in my chair.

Cussing GM's out and going ape shit on them makes them just yawn and forget about you. Actually approaching them intelligently, but to a degree aggressively gets you a lot farther with them, or at least makes them enjoy their job a little more and more likely to give a shit about your complaint. Yet, the worst thing is, as I mentioned, SE's customer service practices are so untransparent its hard to tell if you are ever getting anything done.

I think SE actually does an o.k. job as far as other mmorpgs are conserned, like WoW for an example I hear Blizzard is doing a horrible job at the moment.

Im not naming anyone specifically, but anyone that says "WTF are you blind, SE?? You can SEE THEM RIGHT THERE!!"

And yeah, you see em, I see em, SE most definitely see's em. We all know the RMT are there, we all know why. But lets move to the ever famous, and most moaned about phrase ever quoted by a GM.

"We'll look into it."

The players have to understand, thats ALL they can do. SE cannot ban the players until they actually break the ToS, which they dont until they start sellin the gil/give gil to the lead RMT to whore. I know, we all want them to be banned right there, and now, but they cant. (well, they have the power to) Idk, just think about it.

This post wasnt in direct reply to yours, btw. :p

In what way exactly? I've always found Blizzard GM's 100 times more useful than SE ones.

Dude some idiot threatened to GM call me for getting them booted out of a party when they pathetically tried to MPK my party the day before... that makes a lot of sense.

someone threatened to GM call me after doing BCNM40. Before entering we decided that unless we get a PCC or 3 Uts Ni scrolls, that he wasnt going to get an individual scroll for himself. (BTW, he didnt even bring his own orb...)

After a buddy's and my run, a Ni scroll dropped on my orb. Now, BEFORE we entered, we had decided that everyone would get something from this. (We didnt know he didnt bring his own orb til after we got to the BC, and decided to still share it...) After we exited, he started begging for the scroll, lol, and even lotted on it trying to steal it. I was lead so I just quarter mastered... Then proceeded to /t me "Im gonna call a GM on you and your LS" After that stunt, he keeps /t'ing me in-game "wheres my gil from the scroll?" Well, he got jack. Me and my buddy + another friend decided it should go to a diff friend who was in need of Ni. So thats that.

did you charm the GM mat?

I'd love it if one of our own could become a GM and start feeding us the insider info... or at the very least go as ban-happy as he could before getting fired =P

Oh yeah GM calls when you're just talking to them are so much fun. I remember one night in sky while camp Ulli (blah blah bitch bitch) right after they changed him spawning in the middle of the room, I called a GM. He had not poped in 9 hours of my ls camping up there so you know we're all losing our minds and the converstaion pretty much went from me asking him if he'd pop Ulli, to me asking him for gil, to me just talking to him about life. We got on the topic of smokin and things of the like. Convo went on for like 10 min and I swear not 30 seconds after it ended Ulli popped. I mean I know its coincidence but damn it just makes you wonder. Point is being nice to the GM's can get you a lot further than sending them /tells and telling them they should go eat dog food and live in Chinese gaming houses.

I dunno, I think you should give him something as a reward for the effort he put into helping you guys win the fight. 100 gil sounds like it'd about cover it. ;)

Nah, too costly. From the sound of the guys attitude, a chunck of rock salt would have sufficed.
