Best Party Setup

Best setup I've ever had easily broke 24k/hour over several hours.
All members heavily merited + using Sole Sushi (and one had +1)

WAR/NIN (Ridill)
WAR/NIN
NIN/WAR
BRD/NIN (Constantly pulling to avoid down time and keeping up minuet x2)
BRD/WHM (helping RDM heal and keeping Ballad x2 on WHM and March x2 on DD)
RDM/WHM

Party was in Halvung and chained very high. Our biggest chain breakers was the stoneskin moves that trolls use, usually once a fight isn't a problem, but when they use it back to back or even 3 times in a fight it has chain breaking potential (especially on a Hilltroll PLD). I think the key to this setup was the fact that there was literally no down time with one bard constantly pulling. And as BRD/NIN the bard took no damage and the party rolled quite well.

One thing I have learned about this set up is that the BRD/NIN should be singing marchx2 so that their recast timers are shorter, thus faster pulling. It seems to work extremely well in Mt Zhayolm (he meant Halvung staging point) since all the trolls can be spread far apart and they walk REALLY slow at times.

Ridill warrior ≠ Merited/Properly equipped Ridill warior. There's some godawful ones out there, putting on a Ridill by itself doesn't make a warrior godly in the damage department. Same goes with BB monk, although there aren't as many Blackbelt monks that can be beaten out by Uber Brownbelt monks, because most of them have the merits and other gear.

I know that, but most of the time a ridill war knows what they need in terms of equipment and merits, I've only met 2 who weren't very good. I don't think either had sword merits.

THF/NIN is {Too weak} if you have a BRD in the party, and even more weak if you are pulling a mob that attacks slow and rarely hits you on the pull. THF/WAR, that is great.

Actually though I was in a party last night that kicked ass.

SAM/THF
THF/NIN
NIN/WAR
WHM/SMN
BRD/WHM
BST/NIN

2x SATA WS and the mobs where over 3/4ths dead from the start of the fight. Usually they had just enough life left for us to TP back up to start the next fight the same way. This was a 63-64 party on Colibre. Fucking awsome.
No, U!

Pld/nin won't be tanking that party, and will do less damage than a pld/war would. Double Attack + Berserk > Dual Wield II for damage hands down. I won't merit with a pld/nin, if I party with a pld they're gonna be voking and tanking the first half of the fight so the real DD's can focus on dealing damage instead of keeping shadows up. Drg/whm is only worth it if there's a lot of AoE, which isn't an ideal camp to begin with.

Guess I should have been a little more clear. Was thinking Thickets, The PLD/NIN would be DDing in Full Homam with Full sword merits, Suppa Earring, and eating meat. Nin would be tanking, PLD would be using mp mostly to flash when shadows go down. /war would take damage and cause more downtime, in this situation.. I agree if he can DD and take no damage that /war is better.

For the Drg part, they destroy Puks, which would be alot of what the party would be fighting, and I suppose /nin would work, I'm just partial to multiple people in the party having the capacity to heal in case something goes wrong. The bard would be /nin and pulling, so would not be of any help in that area.
