Beta Round 3 -- Invites from other XIV Sites!

This is probably the last Beta invite that SE is going to give out. Thought I'd mention it since TB and I saw it online today at three websites.

For each website, you'll need an account and to answer some questions. With the exception of Eorzeapedia, in which you recieve a Beta ticket and give it to a friend in hopes to be entered in a drawing.

Rumor has it that they'll be adding a few more jerbs for Beta Tres.
I tried out Lancer and Miner this last run, and lancer get amazingly broken at rank 10. Since characters are deleted for Beta 3, I'll probably start out as an archer like I planned, but I might take Lancer to 10 anyway for that crazy-good Drain Samba + Haste skill.

I was wondering, so crafters just craft, or do they like level up as they craft or what. Can they fight at all?

Honestly, I haven't touched a crafting job myself (mostly due to the lack of crafting guildleves), but they do level while they craft, and I assume they fight like gatherers fight: by throwing rocks at enemies for one point of damage each.

In case you've missed it, BG are giving out beta keys as well. However, to be able to apply for a key, you need to have an account registered before August 5th.

If you want a beta key, I suggest you try and get it from all of the sites possible to increase your chances :3

Yeah, and "open beta" applications start soon.

I'm guessing Closed Beta #3 ends towards the end of August, and Open Beta starts beginning of September, meaning Open Beta applications should start around August 23rd.

Wonder if you'll get Open Beta keys through preorders, too.

"Open beta" and "applications" aren't suppose to go in the same sentence. Ever. Even if you put one of them in quotations.

That's why it is in quotation marks. Open Beta shouldn't even require applications, as an open beta by definition is free for everyone to join. I mean, look at this:

If you're desperate, FilePlanet is giving away beta keys. What they require is you subscribe to them (which you can unsubscribe after you get the key), but they are out of them atm and will restock tomorrow morning. I do believe it's for NA only, though.

You can also download the FFXIVsetup file for free so you can have it already downloaded if you do get a key!

Doesn't the game come out Sept 30th? Whats the point of starting a beta immediately prior to release? Open beta should have been several months ago.

its released September 23rd if you buy collector's.

And no, for a lot of games Open Beta starts about a month in advance, if they even have an Open Beta. Beta usually starts a few months before, but that's an invitational beta (Closed Beta). I haven't heard of any game with an Open Beta that start several months before the game is released, other than for games that's just localized (that is, released in another country before, and then translated to another language later, like FFXI or AION).

Rather, I did. But I didn't like the name, and I haven't remade it since that silly maintenance.
