Big ol' Famitsu rumor

The thing is, SE would never name a job Elemental User. So the name can't be Elemental User.

Why? First of, because Elemental User is to vague. It can mean anything. Hell, Black Mage is an elemental user, White Mage and Red Mage are also Elemental Users. Second of, the name Elemental User is lame.

Emulator would be a better name. Emulator doesn't neccesarily have to be a Mimic either. It can be something that emulates the forces around him, such as a geomancer.

An emulator is something that duplicates the function of one system to appear as another. That can either mean

1) duplicating the functions of another job
or
2) duplicating the element in order to reach a result

As an example, using the water in the atmosphere in order cast desired magic, with rainy weather further boosting the damage. It also means he doesn't necessarily have to be in a snowy area in order to cast ice magic, since there's water in the air around you that he could use and freeze in order to use ice magic.

Both forms would duplicate one "system" to appear as another, kind of. So Emulator could be either.

The fact that he's not in a snowy area, or its not snowy weather, doesn't have to mean he's unable to cast any ice magic. It can be similar to BLU. If he's in a snowy area or its a snowy weather, he can simply get a boost in his damage, similar to BLU on monster correlation, or BLM with weather/day effects. It could also mean that either casting time/recast time is shorter or faster, depending on weather/day and location.

Its the same with rl. Just because there's no snow in the area doesn't mean there won't ever be snow. It will just take longer until snow arrives. And thus, the 2-hour could be something like reduces recast/cast time and increases damage done by geomancer magic, meaning that it'd be like the geomancer were, as an example, in a snowy area with double snow weather.

How is that a reason? It's more of an oppinion.
Shit, I thought Dancer sounded lame. zomg, look what happened?

I agree, Dancer sounds lame. I vouch for the name Exotic Dancer or Stripper.

Besides, at least Dancer have been in the previous games. Elemental User have not.

Elemental User would be the rough translation from japanese to english, just like the rough translation of BLM and WHM in japanese would be different in english(its demon taoist or something). Geomancer would be used in the english version assuming that it was true that SE was actually adding the job to the game.

Elementalist from FFTA is all I can pull from the top of my head.

Elementalist follows the rules SE use for naming still. Elemental User just sounds stupid. Elementalist is something they could use to name a job, yes, but they would never name something Elemental User...

That's some pretty flawed logic there. I'll let you figure it out on your own.
I was talking about the name Dancer. Elemental User haven't been used in any game for Geomancer, while the name Dancer have been used in previous games.

I'm not talking about Puppetmaster versus Elemental User.

Ill let you figure out the naming rules they use. You seem to be bright enough since you figured out that the logic is flawed because Puppetmaster is a unique job. Which, btw, was besides the point.

puppetmaster is NOT a unique job, it nay have never been playable, but it was a mob class in several previous titles...

Emulator or mimic would make sense, its one of the few remaining unrepresented jobs left

There will be 3 job!

Male Dancer
Galka Dancer
and Dancer (for regular female dancer)

There, end of discussion! :P

SE could name a job anything they want. It's their game. Just as they can add any job they want.

That was in the very thing you quoted. GJ dissagreeing while agreeing. Their whole reason to naming it Elemental User was because of the EMU abbreviation. Obviously, if they named it something else besides Elemental User, the abbreviation wouldn't be EMU. Hence, we can rule out Elemental User.

New job abreviations

Woah... The abbreviations aren't even 100% credible so unless you're secretly an SE representative, let's save our statements concerning what they "would never do" until the jobs are actually revealed.

Everyone else's speculation is as valid as your own.

They'd call it Elementalist, NOT Elemental User. SE always incorporates names that seem to fit a setting, not simply a description. Like how its Ranger and not Archer. White Mage and not Healer. Its not that they'd not make a kind of job, its that they'd never use Elemental User as a name.

What?

You're saying that if SE called the job something else, then the abbreviation would be something else, which is pretty obvious because if they changed the warrior job name, they'd probably change the war abbreviation... but since the abbreviation is EMU, then it absolutely can't be elemental user? That makes no sense due to SE being the ones that determine what is named what.

But anyhow, if SE were to follow standard abbreviation formats, I think it'd be either ELM, ELE, or ELU, if anything -- least likely being ELE.

SE can abbreviate it however they want. There are way too many definitive statements based on assumption in this thread. :o Be nice!

Again, they wouldnt call it Elemental User, they'd call it Elementalist. Same type of name, but one sounds more "Flavorfull" and fits into a storyline better. But EMU can't be an abbreviation for Elementalist, because there's no U in the name. Thus if the abbreviation is correct, then the new job isn't Elementalist.

Marajade gets my points.

To those that still don't get it, the theory that they would name a job Elemental User is based on the abbreviation EMU. I'm not saying they won't add a job that serves the function of an Elemental User, I'm saying they'll never give a job that name. And thus, EMU can't be the abbreviation for Elemental User.

If thye named it something like Elementalist, they wouldn't abbreviate it EMU.
