Bill Cower and the "Stealers"

And on that note, here's a little something to chew on: Although there are blatent fouls on the field (or ice in my case) not only is the referee human, but there are also other thing he may see that you don't. Maybe he let some things go for the other team and did the same for your team as well. And let's also remember, you can't blame a referee for a lost game in the pro league. Not only are players professionals in thier sport, and should know better than to do something blatent to put thier play in jeapordy, but the referee's are also professionals. A face guard tug here, a punch do the abdomen at the bottom of the tackle there... refs can't call it all, and some choose not to depending on the situation. Now, as far as pass interference calls, these should be obvious... but I can't see the Seahawks losing the game because of a handful of bad calls. If they had played as well as they should have, they would have won reguardless.

And honestly, if a ref is doing a poor job, the league will see to it he is dispatched. Again, these are professionals, and you more than likely aren't. Is it okay to complain about what you view to be a poorly played game? Sure! Complaining is human nature! (It's true) But don't think that it's going to be at all effectual in accomplishing... anything. Just remember, they get paid to do this for a living, and you do not.

The Games over, Pittsburg 4tw!

I would agree with you, however the calls were coming at the times that the seahawks were threatening. The fact of the matter is, yes a few blown calls can affect a games out come. and in this case this is what happened. About fining/punishing/we the referees... yes the nfl does that, however, even though they are guilty of all the terrible calls in the superbowl, they will not be punished, b/c it will be a huge embarassment to the nfl.

Im watching the replays atm, and the mistakes they made in officiating are horrendous. I mean this is the superbowl, the biggest game of the season. If the officials are gonna blow it, what is the point of watching?

Like i said before, i dont care about either team. My favorite team is the Saints, and theres no way they will be in this type of position. I watched the game today thinking it was going to be entertaining, but all it was was an excersize in the refs appeasing a larger fan base.

damn lack of edit! ><
to continue that yeah it sucked, and I understand its human nature to not be perfect.. no one is. I just dont like how SO many championships of ANY sort can be flipped by bad calls..

I never once said she died.. not at all.. I seriously don't get how you read that. I'm too busy to look, post what YOU said in here and I'll point out what I was inferring.

. But.. I do hope, in all seriousness, someone you know falls ill for you comment against my fiance. That was uncalled for, and despicable. How would you like it if, perchance I knew someone you loved who died recently, and talked about them in a negative way?

That looks like you are mad I said something about your fiance who died recently. It sure infers that pretty hard, anyone else?

Do you watch football? Have you not seen ticky tack calls throughout the season? They happen, did he push off? yes. Was it worth a call? again I say questionable. I've seen less called, so seeing that call didn't shock me.

The TD again, if it was called different on the field, that call would have been upheld as well. As it was, it was a TD on the field, and the video could not show it was not.

Yeah, they have a hard job, harder than a lot of other jobs out there.. they do their best, but when they get a chance to review and correct it.... and dont? Thats harsh. I live with bad calls, I played soccer most my life and MANY calls sucked. But they didnt cost us games.

If an official doesn't overturn a call then there was nothing that happened to warrant a change in the official's eyes no matter what a fan, player, or coach may think. Its hard for some people to understand that... and yes, sometimes the official still makes a mistake but it happens. They're human. NO ONE is correct 100% of the time.

And you know what... I'm a big football fan. My team didn't even make it to playoffs. If they made it to the superbowl (god willing and would give many a heart attack I'd think lol) and lost, yeah I'd be upset... but all in all its just a game. Nothing major to affect my life (unless I were to bet really big on the game). I'd still go on the same. Yeah, I'd hear about them loosing, but I know next year would be a new game... new teams... new situation. So, is it really that big of a deal that calls were made that people considered bad?

Yeah, so you fans out there cheering over your stolen victory, I hope you choke on it. This was nothing but a Patriot game decided 100% by the Ref's. Your team played like shit, so had to have an extra hand.
QB Sneak TD that... wasn't a TD -7 PITT
Pass interference that never happened, +7 SEA
Holding that never happened +7 SEA
Illegal block (while tackling WTF?) never happened -7 PITT

.................. hmmmmmm

So that means... instead of SEA 10 PITT 21
We're looking at SEA 24 PITT 7

So take your boasting and stuff it.

fyi.. I don't care much about football, but I know the game as good as any appreciate. Nor am I a Seahawks fan. I watched to see the "Stealers" lose. In reality, they won, but everyone really knows that Seattle beat them, Pitt sucks, and thats that.
Yeah they got the ring, but they sure as hell don't have the respect.

You're an idiot.

First off, I actually wanted the seahawks to win, but your post is crybaby bullshit.

That sneak was aweful close to call. Even if they called it down, Pitt probably punches it in on 4th down or at worst kicks the FG. So not nec -7 Pitt as you say.

The pass int call I can only assume you mean when jackson pushed off. Was it a week call? Yup. Did he push off? Yup. Seattle did get a FG off of it, so they only lost +4 not +7.

That holding DID happen. I don't know what you or the announcers were looking at, but if he doesn't hook the defender under the arm, hassleback is sacked, or at the very least hit and the ball falls incomplete.

As far as the ill block goes. It was the only really bad call of the game. I'm not sure how you get -7 pitt out of that though.

At MOST we are looking at a tie game if everything is called the way you think it should have been. Believe me, considering the bet I had on the game, I wish that had been so. Sorry though, the right team won without a doubt.

a championship is no different than a regular game. They only difference is in the hype and commentary on such. Bad calls happen, mistakes get made. But once play resumes, its over, and the result is set in stone.
Like the recent World Junior Hockey Championship gold medal game. The official score was 5-0 for Canada, but late in the 1st, there was actualy a russian goal. There was no way that the official could have seen it go in, and no one from the russian bench asked for a video check. About 5 minutes later. the video official called down to the ice to inform the ice official that a goal was actualy scored. But, since play had resumed, there wasnt anything that could be done.
Would that goal have won the game? no. But it did enable the canadian goalie to set the current world junior record of consecutive shutout time.

lol, yes i watch football, and yes I know the rules. but in my reply to excim, my point was that bad calls do indeed affect the games outcome, as we have seen tonite.

Look man, i saw what i saw. I have nothing to gain from arguing. I didnt bet on the game. Im not a fan of either team. I have no vested interest in the outcome of the game. What i am interested is the integrety of it. I understand that there are sometimes bad calls. I have no probelm with that. However, when the bad calls seemed to coincide w/ something that would have helped seattle, well, quite frankly i find that suspect. It wasnt just one or two bad calls. There were numerous ones, all directed at seattle.

The OP is actually right. I was actually rooting for the steelers until i saw what the refs had in store for seatle.

Im sorry, but that was not pass interference. Incidental contact, yes, but pass interference.. sorry i call bullshit.

Ben rothlesburger did not break the end zone plain. he held the ball out after he was already on the ground. Notice that the side judge was going to spot him where he fell, but then changed his mind. again I call bullshit.

There was no holding when hassleback got the ball to the one yard line.

They called an illegal block on hassleback when he was trying to tackle the guy that intercepted the ball.

The refs did everything they could to give pitsburg the game. They did not call any holds on the steelers (and there were many).

Now dont get me wrong, i dont care about either team all that much, but i know bullshit when i see it.

Yes, yes, and yes.
Sorry I don't mean to post a "one liner" but I was outraged at the fact that the Steelers had the refs on the payroll.

The one I think shouldn't have been called was the low block by hasselbeck on the pick, the rest were definitely borderline, but in real time they are hard to call. Remember, there is no playback when they initially make the call they make.

Bro, these are professionals we are talking about. Although I can see some of the things you said earlier may seem to hold merit (NFL not wanting to be embarrased and all) you've got to admit... if you are so worked up over something so obvious, then you should be joined by all NFL fans every team and demand some consistancy from the NFL. But that's not going to happen... because not everyone sees it your way. The NFL would stand to lose a more fans that way than they would if they owned up to hiring bad refs and made thier PR eat one.

lol, i know your bein sarcastic, but thanks for agreeing =P

(btw, the refs are on the nfl payroll, and the nfl wanted the steelers to win b/c they have a bigger fan base and more merchandise will be sold... hahahhaha)

sum of this thread.... Shaiwhateverthefuckhercarpetmunchinglyingassnameis is a complete idiot.

No, you questioned the gender of my fiance based on me being lied to once before. That is a personal stab and VERY low.. I used an example at how low it was. No death involved, I was speaking as a referance. I find the character of the attack just as horrid.

but the way you worded made people think your fiance died. If that wasn't the case, maybe you should have worded it different considering more than 1 person took it that way.

You compared a shot at the gender of your IN GAME FIANCE to death? You are a fucking drama queen lol.

Sorry Grey, didn't mean to confuse.
and yes, I do. Plus, who says this current relationship that HAPPENS to be in game is strictly so? You insulted a real life situation of mine that is 100% personal and a matter of the heart..it isa VERY fair comparison.
