Of course I watched the game and I do have to say that the officiating of the game seemed a little off. Although in the end I honestly didn't give a damn about the game even though I was rooting for Seahawks just because I like Mike Holmgren as a coach. Cowher finally deserved a Super Bowl win but the victory is nonetheless it did not seem like a clean cut victory.

Anyways here are the reasons I thought the game was screwed....

Big Ben's touchdown run where through the replay it didnt look like he broke the plane.

Hasselbeck's illegal blocking call... ok seriously how in the hell are the officials gonna expect a QB to go take someone out shoulder first oh and he was tackling not "blocking".

The call of offensive pass interference against the Seahawks on a TD reception. It looked as though they were still bumpin uglies even after the 5 yard safe zone from the line of scrimmage.

Oh yeah this cracks me up, there was no definitive player out there in Superbowl XL that stands out enough to be the MVP.

Grats to the Steelers for winning the Super Bowl suspicious as it may be.

lol, i know your bein sarcastic, but thanks for agreeing =P

(btw, the refs are on the nfl payroll, and the nfl wanted the steelers to win b/c they have a bigger fan base and more merchandise will be sold... hahahhaha)
I wasn't bein sarcastic O_o and oh, your probably right on the parenthesis.

Yeah, so you fans out there cheering over your stolen victory, I hope you choke on it. This was nothing but a Patriot game decided 100% by the Ref's. Your team played like shit, so had to have an extra hand.
QB Sneak TD that... wasn't a TD -7 PITT
Pass interference that never happened, +7 SEA
Holding that never happened +7 SEA
Illegal block (while tackling WTF?) never happened -7 PITT

.................. hmmmmmm

So that means... instead of SEA 10 PITT 21
We're looking at SEA 24 PITT 7

Add at least 3 to the Steelers, because had Rothlisberger not got his touchdown they would've at least made the field goal. Also subtract 3 from Seattle because how could they have scored and then got a field goal off of the same possession?

Also how could that holding call translate into 7 points for Seattle? The officiating sucked, but your making some very poor assumptions.

This is pretty much done. :p
And yeah the field goals were possible.. still outcome changing.
The hold pulled away a SEA TD, in which Hassleback ended up throwing an interception, which led to a TD.

So take your boasting and stuff it.

fyi.. I don't care much about football, but I know the game as good as any appreciate. Nor am I a Seahawks fan. I watched to see the "Stealers" lose. In reality, they won, but everyone really knows that Seattle beat them, Pitt sucks, and thats that.
Yeah they got the ring, but they sure as hell don't have the respect.

On the situation of the QB sneak seattle defender knocked back Roethlisberger's arm that was going to break the playing zone before he was down. Ref saw that and decided to rule a TD take out the arm being pushed back the ball would have broke the playing zone resulting in a TD. I didn't agree with the pass interference call (either of them as a matter of fact). Hasselbeck missed the tackle blocker for runner on interception had to jump to dodge maybe it was a legit call. It was still a bad game and both teams played horribly especially the QBs. The Gadget was a nice play you can't deny that, and so was the 75 yard run.

Pssht. Put the Brubeck back on man. Take Five 4tw

Hire a lawyer... have the NFL officiating under investigation, and see where it goes... otherwise... game over, get over it.

I'm thinking you're suspicious

Seahawks 2 minute offense was horrible(twice). DJack could have had a touchdown if he had gotten his feet down in the endzone(not out of bounds). 2 missed field goals. Jerramy Stevens fumble that was called an incomplete pass could have setup(or been) another touchdown. The Steelers were not given the game by anyone except the Seahawks. Hell look at the bad/non calls that went against the Steelers. The Jerramy Stevens fumble/inc. The Helmet to Helmet no call on SEA CB against Hines Ward(not the one that the ref picked up). Ben getting blocked in the back after throwing an INT.

The officiating was sub par indeed but to say they were biased towards the Steelers is ridiculous.

Not that any of this matters anyway.

Ben had a legit chance of getting the guy that intercepted the ball, and yet him being pushed from behind wasn't called, good point.

The QB sneak looked fine to me. They froze the picture of where ben was at his farthest out point forward with his arm with the ball in hand was extended.
I don't know what game some you were watching...But the freaking showed it in slow motion and froze it several times. Doesn't take a smart person to draw a line down either in their mind or on paper/screen from the tip of the football at its most forward point. And from there to determine the tip of the ball was easily about halfway over the white line, and therefore clearly over the plane.

At least your other complaints are matters of opinion, the QB sneak TD is easily provable. Like I said, look were the tip of the football is at its farthest point, clearly notice how it's in the white line zone...AND THEREFORE A TD AND PROVABLE.

Now onto opinions.

-I feel the offensive pass interference TD call was justified.

He clearly pushed off the defender with two hands. Infact offensive pass interference is way more common than most think. Most recievers are not big enough boneheads to make it so obvious. There was a cowboys-vikings game in the 70s I believe were the vikings were robbed from a trip to the superbowl. The cowboys receiver pushed the viking guy who clearly had good position on the receiver, made the catch, and won cowboys the game. No offensive pass interference was called, so the Cowboys robbed the Vikings of a trip to the superbowl.

The NFL has learned from 'some' past mistakes over the years so they wouldn't be normal occurances.

And for the record, an angry fan threw a whiskey bottle at the REF's head that didn't call that PI. Infact the Vikings offered season tickets for life to whoever turned the guy in; no one turned him in. The NFL doesn't want those kind of problems to happen again.

I think the penalty where hassleback got in trouble for hitting the blocker was indeed a load of crap. I won't argue this one. The steelers moved down the field easily anyway though. If the seattlers played good football and got a TD or FG instead of intercepting the ball, would this problem have even occured? No

The holding call, I won't disagree with that one either. Sometimes players get caught, sometimes they don't.

Simply put, seattle didn't play the game they needed to play to beat the steelers. That wasn't the best game the steelers played by a long shot, and seattle could've taken advantage of that if they actually played decently.

I'm far from a stealers fan; I've been a vikings fan since I could remember @ 3 or 4 years old. But the steelers have my respect this year. They were in the playoffs long before any team. They 'had' to win their last 4 games just to make the playoffs and as a 6th seed none the less. Then they beat the 3,1,2,1 seeds to win it all...Absolutely crazy. They've been in the playoffs in a sense since week 14.

The superbowl is not even a game anymore anyway. It's a big stupid show now that means less and less with every year.

OH Kat, I know you mentioned winning 300$, but... ;p

My dad won 5000$ last year, 3500$ this year, and my brother hit a 500$ reverse on top of that this year.

Some people just get reallllllllly lucky on these pools.

I only hit a split 250$ once several years ago, but then again I only buy one 25$ box per year.

Just cause this caught my eye. Yes, the Seahawks played bad. Them losing is not the issue its the officiating being horrible.

BTW. The "helmet to helmet" open your eyes. They looked it over in slow motion, not only did his helmet not hit Ward's.. his helmet never TOUCHED him. Open your eyes and you can clearly see his SHOULDER was put into Ward's back. It was clean (and BEAUTIFUL) tackle. As was the shot on El.. that was nice too. :3

That's sick. That was not a nice shot on El. It made my whole body hurt when I saw that. I could feel my back spasm after that hit.

That makes it a good hit. If he was hurt, yeah I'd feel bad.. but still give a mental pat on the back to the guy who did it. That's football. It hurts.

No that's not a good hit. There are a few of them I can think of that when looked at are innocent enough, but the out come was not what was expected. Just a little more force and randels back would of snapped like a twig. I also think back to the Redskins about 15 years ago when the reciever was up in the air making a catch and the CB clipped his legs and he came straight down on his head. That could of been a good hit but it wasn't because of the outcome. Any Washington fans remember that? I can't remember the names, but it was greusome.

That was a bit different.. the WR was defenseless mid air, they have a penalty for cheap shots but the exact call eludes me for soe reason.. the Randel El hit was 100% legal and was a nice shot. Ever watch the intro to Monday Night? LOTS of sick hits.. The hit you are talking about.. yeah it sucked.. and yes some legit hits suck too.. the hit that ruined Bo Jackson, possibly the best potential in a RB ever.. how about "The Assassin" ... Jack Tatum anyone? It happens.. I am VERY glad El s okay.. just.. the hit was a good one.

Wow, that's just awesome Jag^^. We only do $5 squares on City of N. Aurora board, the Sandwich Moose and a local bar. So we were very happy to win the $300 final payout. I myself would love to gamble that much money on the football game, but there is no way in hell Steve would ever let me^^. He's the type of person who buys 1 lotto ticket per week and that's it. Spends $1 total.

Germ shuuuuuuuut itttttt..... they might hear you.. >_>

What are you, high or retarded?

Name ONE call against the Steelers that could have made a diffrence in the score.

I can name 2 calls that were garbage that would give the Seahwaks 14 points.
