Black Friday Deaths

This is truly disturbing and sad. Not to make light of what happened to the worker but I'm glad I'm not working at Best Buy anymore. I hope in the future stores see what happened here and take more precautions.

This is a little ironic for me, we had a guy start working in my department 2 days before black friday. Right before we opened the doors, I warned him to make sure that he stood out of the way, because people were going to run full-tilt towards the back of the store, and that they would trample him if he got in the way. I was kind of joking, but I'm sorry to see that I was right that it would actually happen.

However Mire, we have started our own "black friday". It was all over the news. Canadian Tire, Walmart etc.

In the states though aren't the stores doing a 24 hour thing?

People are friggin nuts.

Really? We didn't have that here. At least, it wasn't advertised.

Oh yeah we had cops in our store for the morning rush, by the time I got there though at noon most of the lines were gone or pretty short, aside from the checkout line. We also can only sell like 2 pre paids per customer (national law i think?) so I had a couple people who were disappointed but nothing like I'LL BLOW YOU UP. Luckily I work specifically in mobile though so even though it was busy, it wasn't ever crazy.

Holy crap, I'm a BBYM guy too! I'm part time but I do a lot of the work for my boss. Do you guys have stupid "daily upgrade checks" too? lol

Of course. Those and Recommendation sheets are fucking trash. I can see them being helpful in some cases but our management pushes them like its essential to business which they aren't. Needless to say I hardly use either and was our stores top seller on Sat and sun and was second by one phone on fri and I wasn't even there for door busters. Then we have guys who will get like 10 upgrade checks and have like one phone out and its just like "no connection here...". But as long as i keep selling they stay off my back so its all good.

Yeah, I'm the same way. I write out the Rec Sheets *after* the sale just to appease management. Though, they usually leave me alone because for the past three months I've been beating our full timer in Notional Margin by like.. 1-2k.

I like to refer to Black Friday as "A bad day in Crawler's Nest."

But, that joke isn't as funny seeing mob trains don't hang out at entrances and walk back.

I've had people try and take stuff out of my shopping cart before AND after they've been bought during this dark time. >.<

Thus, I refuse to go into Wallmart or any store like such from Black Friday to January 1st. My house has a 1 month supply of food, suppilies, and my xmas shopping is done. The once a week into the small market to get some milk and eggs is enough for me.

In the off chance I have to go to Walmart, I make sure to bring lots of Sneak Oils & Prisim Powders.. or atleast a long stick to beat people off me.

I'm gonna put a facade of the front of a Wal Mart on the edge of a cliff and let natural selection do its job.

I haven't gone out shopping for Black Friday since I quit my job at BB 8 years ago.

Wii's are so serious...

I had no idea people were like that. 3 lives taken. I feel so bad for the women who miscarried.

So stupid, for stuff. Stuff that will be on the shelf next week, next month, etc. Just... stuff.

Black Friday and Christmas rush gets worse and worse every year. I remember when my Dad havin' to wait in a -civil- line at Wal-Mart for an N64 was "holy shit!"

"Those were the days..."

I take back any nasty thing I ever said about standing in a line. But all this stuff shows how voracious people really are when it comes to "looking out for #1".

Hearing mothers on the radio, screaming about how happy they were that they got their 25 Year Anniversary Cabbage Patch Doll, then the mothers that were pissed off because the stores ran out "What am I supposed to tell my kid on Christmas Day, you've been good all year but Santa came up short?!" Well, let me tell you, if your brat of a child is QQ'ing over not getting a Cabbage Patch Doll at Christmas, you didn't raise them properly. Some kids are lucky to even have a Christmas at all.

When we go to our graves, we carry with us what exactly? We don't take our money, we don't take our possessions (except for maybe a select few loved ones choose).

People are hung up on, me, me, I, and now!

I'm going to move to a salt-weathered house on the ocean shore, fish daily and hang my clothes on a clothes line. If I give presents to people, damn-it, I'll learn to make quilts.

Count me in on that, except for the quiltin'. I'll carve.

If they're so concerned about their children's Christmas morning, maybe they shouldn't be cheapskates and buy/preorder their shit well beyond Black Friday and the subsequent days/weeks after.

I was thinking of saying something along those lines. This time next year, most of that crap that people fought literally for their lives will be sitting around somewhere collecting dust, almost forgotten. Is a life really worth taking or destroying just for a temporary satisfaction of a material good? It saddens me hearing things like this.

this may sound bad...but at least we know the economy isn't fuckin with the holidays?
