BLM Question about Nin's

Bajaratt said:
Yeah, the THF was the top damage dealer for the fights, doesn't look good for the other melees either.

Thf did 27% on average... with a Kraken club

Drg+Wyvern did 27% on average.

Dragoons are so under rated.

I use stun a lot as a blm. With a ninja, you have to do something while your standing there trying not to get hate. In my opinion, the 2 jobs just don't go well together. Get a smn instead of a Blm, that solves that hate issue. If you want stun, get a drk.

I have a question concerning stun myself tho actually.

For any of you Blm that have ever tried to party in Lufaise Meadows with a ninja... Have you ever seen this?

Bird double attacks and eats a shadow and deals minor damage
Ninja starts Casting Utsusemi: Ichi
Bird Triple attacks.
Ninja Eats Dirt.

I got blamed for that 3 times in a row. 3 deaths on the first 3 pulls. He got mad and disbanded. But is it realy my job to do nothing but watch for his shadows to fall? The 2nd time, he started the fight out with 1 shadow, which immediatly got Double attacked away. He was dead by the time I stood up. The 3rd time, I was in the middle of Magic Bursting. I don't care how good you are at Blm, you can't just Cancel thunder IV and start casting Stun in time to catch Triple attack. As a matter of fact, I find that it is hard to stun Triple attack at all. The whole time he kept saying <Stun> <Where?> as he didn't speak any english.

Were these deaths my fault? Or should ninja just not party in Lufaise vs. Birds?

done fine w plenty of nin there. Could have been bad luck w the nin, but having 1 shadow up for a pull doesnt scream competence. Anyway, would you not take on the rams with a Pld tank because of Great Bleat Max HP down? Grab a skilled nin and you wont have a problem.

And as a BLM I still love Nin to tank my XP PTs. Toss in a good Thf for a little Hate control, and a 1000 dmg SB -> 1000 light plants 2000 dmg hate on the tank. That leaves me plenty of room to toss out a 1800 Thundaga 3 MB. Not much left to nuke down after that.

Gotta admit tho trippy, Ive gotten great XP in Lufaise w a 5 BLM manaburn. Just alternate pullers, and you can consistently chain 5 with little risk of death. Just pull the birds w Stun, gravity resists are a pita w those, and they run fast Oo.

Really and truely, I'm not a big fan of manaburns. It's gets boring really quick.

Not to mention, birds run really fast, can't be slept without Lullaby, they never stop moving/attacking to cast anything, and their attacks hurt real bad.

It would have to be extreme circumstances for me to go to lufaise ever again without a Pld tank.

Had a party there last night with pld tank, we took maybe 6 sheep in a period of maybe 3 hours. Used great Bleat prolly 4/6. Noone died in that party the entire time. Great Bleat Can't be stunned, I waited for it to use it a couple of times before doing anything. The players recieve the effect before the text comes on screen that he is using it. It'd be like trying to stun Healling Breeze or a 2 hour ability.

good pld>good nin>okish war>bad pld>bad nin

Sounds like a case of "Sucky NIN".

I have to say, birds suck though. They just LOVE to stun ; ;

Yall were overhunting.. 70% accuracy across the board? Gimme a break...
They were definately at the bottom of fighting these mobs, although some of the thf's accuracy has to do with offhanding a kraken club I'm sure. This was no doubt your downfall. So he's building TP twice as fast as the drg he's in a SC with, does that really help anything that he ws's with 200 TP? He's giving the mob an extra TP move each fight, all to do an extra 300 damage.

And nico, I'd suggest if the tank doesn't need stun during the fight, that you toss one out when the mob is down to about 10% or so health. If you have a pld, that's one less hit they take, if it's a ninja, it could mean one less shadow they lose, letting them get shadows up for the next fight sooner. By that point of the fight hate should be established, especially with a thf, and even if you do pull hate the mob is close to death anyway. I stun almost every fight as blm, it helps a lot for the dinky mp it uses.

Looking at his numbers alone that is embarassing.

i'd like to know exactly how my numbers are embarassing. its my understanding birds are resistant to slashing, don't katanas do slashing damage? now, even if we were fighting something weak to slashing i don't believe i'd have outdamaged the theif or dragoon, but they both do peircing damage that birds are weak to. and even when i swap in str and dex gear for blade: jin i don't consistently even hit over 300 damage with 12 TP return, while the thief does about 700-800 each dancing edge

man i feel your pain. I am in a pt right now where the ninja is telling me to stun and the red mage and summoner are asking me to heal. I CAN'T NUKE WITHOUT DYING

Now is there some situation in which rasp drown frost would be more useful than shock and burn for the mnd and int down?

Actually, I usually found F-D-R to be overall more effective overall. Less melee misses = faster tp gain, more dmg, and more SCs!

Is it just me or is the THF in that party retarded for using a Kraken club? He must've been spamming TP into the birds causing more dives causing more stuns on the NIN causing the need to stun so damn often. In conclusion, DON'T use Kraken clubs in exp parties.

God, ain't that the truth. If the THF wanted faster TP, offhand Hornetneedle or something rather than trying to MPK the tank.

They weren't just at the bottom of fighting those mobs, they were gimp. Well, as you say, the THF makes sense with the gimped Club skill.. but as a DRG myself, I don't remember ever having that kind of shit accuracy on those birds.

Those were little birds in Bibiki - Little birds don't resist anything, they just have a piercing weakness.

It's Greater birds, like the kind you exp off in Valley of Sorrows and Lufaise Meadows, that are resistant to Slashing and Blunt damage.

No one can read that mmkay?
Roflmao... Mmmkay...

But anyways, on topic, i have a nin arround that lvl (almost 66), and i don't have many problems tanking switching between ni-ichi-ni... Especially with haste... Of course i was lucky and have nice gear (SH+1, etc..)
But even still, before SH, i always did ni-ichi-ni, cancellin ni when casting ichi, on last shadow... Just gotta get the hang of it...

Anwyays, that's pretty much it...
Cheers,
Dj
