Once I hit 75, I wanted to try my luck soloing Wamoura Princes like any other Blm worth his petasos. I discovered I'm not worth my petasos. To summarize, I'm going 7 wins of 14 tries. I'm using the tried and true sleep-nuke technique that worked for maat and all my other soloing endeavors. However...

I think Wamoura Princes are exceptionally resistant to sleep, and it's getting me killed. Like any other blm, my enfeebling skill is capped. I have +10 enfeebling from my igqira tiara, +10 from my igqira lappas, and +10 from my AF coat. That's cap +30. I also have a dark staff which should give me a 10% boost to sleep accuracy. I don't know why I'm being resisted several times in a row, in multiple battles. I admit, I don't have a full set of torques, only the elemental torque, but will another 7 skill really make the difference? (I'm working at a full torque set regardless, but I wanna solo in the mean time.) Do other blms have great luck getting princes to sleep?

I was told Flans might be a better target, but I'd like to avoid wasting the only camp manaburn parties can use, for soloing. I'm all about 1st come 1st serve, but I do have enough job pride not to screw over fellow blms. Anyhow, any suggestions would be welcome. I've blown about 4k exp for every 1k merit points I've soloed.

Well.. first things first... Sleep->Nuke->Sleep->Nuke is very ineffective, especially in Mount Zhayolm.

What you should be using is Gravity and Bind, instead of Sleeping.

Example:

Burst II(Thunder IV)
Stun
Gravity
Run back a few steps
Freeze II(Blizzard IV)
Aspir (if applicable)
Stun
Bind if needed
Burst II (Thunder IV)
Back up
Freeze II(Blizzard IV)

Rinse, Repeat. Shouldn't take more than 3 AM2s, or 4 Tier4s. ^^

Thanks Shyrra. You mentioned one spell that never crosses my mind in general Blm gameplay: Bind. When I first got it, I expected it to be the greatest spell since sliced bread, but it never cut the mustard. After many disappointments, I let it collect dust with the barstatus spells and "spikes" spells.

As for the rest, I guess it's time to go /rdm. /whm was so tried and true for me, I was resistant to using anything else. Thanks for the tips.

Bind is -very- flaky... it's not to be counted on too heavily... sort of like.. Blink. =P Gravity is your best friend though. If you're in trouble, ES Sleep is your friend.

Don't forget you also have 4 sleep spells. If one should fail run a few steps and try the next one. Those wamoura move kinda slow so you should be ok to get away from them some.

Vs Wamoura Princes:

Freeze2 -> Gravity -> Thunder4 -> Blizzard4 -> Thunder3 -> Blizzard3 -> Win
Throw in a Fire4 if you're not doing enough damage.

Vs Pudding:

Freeze2 -> Stun (if casting devastating spell) -> Gravity -> Thunder4 -> Bind -> Blizzard4 -> Fire4/Thunder3 -> Win
Throw in a Fire4 if you're not doing enough damage. Throw in an Aspir if you feel like it. I usually don't unless I'm in a duo/trio.

Vs Wamoura (Moths)

Sleep Nuke. I don't fight these unless I accidentally Aggro.

Bind is THE SHIT for soloing at 75. /rdm is very recommended.

soloing tips you say?
Enfeebling magic + gear. stack it on... swap in every piece you own with enfeebling. go buy more to swap in. it pays off.

What he said

^^

I would make sure to start with Princes in the area after the puddings.

Zone if you have to.. they are slower than you even when gravity doesn't stick.

Eh..... I'm not sure I agree with this.

Puddings are a real bitch to sleep, so if you get into trouble, you may be screwed, especially if you don't want to battle near a potential manaburn camp. The zone is right there and I've still died a few times. Flan can cause serious damage to you too unless they've downgraded flan since the last time I was soloing there (That would be a tad bit after the update where they added wamoura). Be sure to always have blink up, if they nail you with magic it may mean trouble. With the lappa you may have a little more luck than I did having your enfeebs stick with flan, as I didn't have the lappa at the time.

I'd suggest going for wamoura princes. IMO they're easy to solo in comparisson to flan. The only disadvantage you'll have is there's no zone that's close to camp for you to escape to.

And to the guy that spoke about soloing wamoura(moth): DAMN >.>; Those things are beefy as hell, grats if you managed that. I'm taru and I think I'd run out of MP. I started to try soloing one and saw a quick failure coming my way so I did manafont >> warp.

If you head to the northwest part of the mainland, you can solo near the zone to Halvung. Another option is to take that zone, go through a short area filled with Wamouracampa and Friar's Lanterns, and solo on the island itself.

But I found that Wamoura Princes depop very very easily. The hardest part of soloing those, for me, was keeping them from vanishing if I ran too far away.

(To echo Shome) Yeah, Pakomen, that's insanely cool. Wamoura solo? :biggrin: Nice. I'd die so fast...

/blush It's not all that. Just your typical sleep->nuke fest. :P Not my favorite mob at all to fight.

Sleep resist seems a bit odd. I've never had issues sleeping a Wamo even with sleep 1. Gravity is the best spell evar! <3 it. I have noticed that Wamo's tend to resist the first spell cast. Anyone else notice this?

Are either of the Wamoura Princes or the Flans soloable at 73, before you get the best tier 4 spells and AMII? Or would that be more wipes than xp? lol

I have. Rarely do they resist an enfeeble if I throw that out first, but my first nuke usually does get resisted some.

If you're careful, Kero, Fire IV and Aero IV will work, it will just be a bit slower, if you can get in a cannon group you'll do fine though. I don't even have AM2 and I can solo 4k+/hr pretty easily.

Get your taru butt online and come duo with me! =P (or at least show me some camps!) :biggrin:

Make sure to stack +Enfeeble Equipment to be sure of your enfeebles. If you don't stack it, you are asking for some resists on your Sleeps, which leads to trouble.

As for the first "resist", the wamouras have two different forms, ball and extended. When in extended form, they take less damage from the nuke.

------0 (Extended)
`` ` `
__, ,
|| 0
----- (Ball)
````
And yes, my Text art is awesome.
As far as resisting the first nuke, I think Wamoura Princes have stoneskin that you have to take down before you can start on their hp.
Sorry, incorrect:nono:
Check out what Hmkiroko said. When they're walking around looking sorta normal and long, they'll have high magic resistance. On occasion you'll see them walking around as a ball too. Once you nuke them the first time, they ball themselves up and come after you, that's why it seems like only the first nuke gets resisted. They'll also switch back if you take too long to kill them. If you see one that's in a ball try casting some weak thing on it like bind.
Something else to note is that while in ball form, it's like they gravity themselves, but the spell is always good to hit them with anyway. Once they're in "long" form they'll come at you much faster making it more difficult to get in that tier IV magic even w/ fastcast. I usually have all my sleep spells ready to go for when they manage to interrupt my nuke casting, be it from careless ness or them going to long form.
