lol, and how did I do that?
Seriously.
Of course Bigboy, this is your opinion, so I can't say anything about that.

And you are helping others while doing so.

Lol the whole day? Are you fuckin for reals? No one is paying to play this game to receive punishment. This is a GAME, STOP TAKING IT SO SERIOUSLY, FUCK...(thats MY opinion, I'm not trying to flame you Bigboy)... if someone i met/know needs a skull, ya I'd be right there to help them. Everyone that knows me knows that I help when I can, even if i'm too low myself.

In this case, the excuse of the lower level person not having experience with NM hunting is void. Before taking a person out on a hunt for the first time, there should always be some form of breifing, not just to set boundries, but also as a means of gauging their responce to determine wether or not you believe they are mentally ready for the hunt, and finally for their own safety.

I do agree with you here, but you're making it sound like they are about to be shipped out to Iraq. It's a game damnit. :D
BUT once again you are falling into the elitist state of mind where everything has to be done your way. Obviously not everyone reads the forums, people have different goals while playing games (i.e. some like to relax, others like to stress over everything about the game that has literally no meaning in life).

Anyways this should be my last post for the thread so in summary:
1. I believe stealing NM/HNM/ENMs are WRONG
2. I don't know why you're still attacking them after they've given a formal apology, but whatever (i guess flaming someone else makes you feel better or whatnot.)
3. Notice I didn't direct the flame at anyone, so don't even try twisting my words around, or i will pwn you with my tarutaru dance
4. Learn to forget and forgive. If the same people keep doing it repeatedly then ya, they're assholes, but until then, stop stereotyping, labelling, making conclusions about people YOU do not know and have NOT met.

That's all and thanks for your time.

I think everyone reading this appreciated the apology that Steerpike did, wish more people would do that. But saying it was a result of a lack of experience in NM hunting? But saying her lack of knowledge about NM hunting justifies, in a way, the action, to me that just does not hold the road.

I'm no big NM hunter myself, hell I have'nt even reached 50 yet on one job (keep switching damn it!) but I DO know about NM and HNM hunting ethics (or sometime lack of), I know about the big name hunters, I know about LS that specializes in it, etc. All of this from reading boards and talking with other players in-game. I would think that someone who is around or over level 50 would have access to the same information, especially if you are part of a LS like BoL.

I'm not saying we should keep giving Steerpikes a hard time, she DID apologies, but please don't put her action on the account of "she did not know".

SORRY /bow one more post (i missed this one)

a. I am not trying to justify anything.
b. Not everyone has ready access to the Internet. i.e. some people play on PS2, etc.
c. Some people just don't like reading forums.
d. How do you know if she's a veteran member or a new member? You can't make assumptions and just say "everyone should know this and that"
e. I will put her action on the account of "she did not know" because she didn't. I'm sure once I talk to her she'll understand and shouldn't happen again. Of course if it happens again then I have a horrible judge of character.. then I would have nothing to say :D
f. I don't justify their action as being correct. ALL I'm saying is that everyone makes mistakes.

No disrespect to you Moch, but i hear this fucking phrase every-time someone fucks up...

imho yes i know its a game so play it right...

It really fustrates ppl when ie. (In this case) Omi camped( or did he?) the NM for (2hrs strait?) and gets the claim only to be jacked by a competitor.

This prolly sounds really elitest to some ppl, and it may bash some ppl, but this is how i just feel about this kind of situations.

Okay seriously...

What in gods name is wrong with you people...

I have the gawl to make a mistake and claim a yellow NM when I see no one around, and instead of takeing care of it ingame, and handeling it like a real person. Certain people choose to avoid the issue all together, and by doing this, then they fuck up yet again, and flame the entire linkshell rather than the person who is responsable, and no one holds the flamer responsable...

Jebus Rice you people are fucktarted double standards out the ying yang!

And to top this off the "victim" make no effort what so ever, to reach a agreeable solution, all they see to wana do is piss and moan and bash and feel sorry for themselves. I appologized for mistakeing a yellow unclaimed NM for an apperently claimed one and, proposed to buy I damoscene cloth of the AH and give it to Prophecy even though we got no drop, and he scoffed at me, all he wanted to do is piss and moan and bash my LS. And here we offer to help you recive your desired peice of EX equipment, and still all you do is bitch and bash "whaaaa meee". If your not going to do anything about fixing your situation you have no right to complain! Especially when people are pretty much handing you the solution!

Again when Maseki MPK'd us on Serket did you see our thread "FUCK YOU NOTORIOUS HUNTERS" no you didn't! if your going to bitch and flame and whine at least don't have a hidden agenda and at lest have the brains to do it right!

PEACE

Games are serious too, especially when your gaming actions ruin things for for others. The only reason I gave such an expample of a possible punishment, was because it is a good way for people to really realize that every single person they interact with in game is just that, a person. Just popping out to the dunes and grabbing a skull is too easy and wont teach someone that, if you spend your entire day helping those weaker than you, you will suddenly understand that your game time online is not just your own. Every action taken can have effects on many others. Also I felt that in that example, petty much anyone can do it, BoL not having low level members.

The only reason I felt Moch makes situations worse by entering them is the fact that he wasn't involved to begin with, but chose to step in and defend member of his LS (A noble act) but did so after one had already admitted his wrongdoings. And I would think that giving the excuse that the other person was lower level is just a cop out and a rather backhanded way of saying the are too muc of a n00b to be held responsable for their actions. :?

I don't want to be too mean about this, but everytime Moch posts in subjects like this he puts his foot in his mouth instead of giving constructive feedback. Sometimes I wonder if he even reads the entire thread carefully....

lol your funny Bigboy

Now you're attacking me instead of giving "constructive critism"
Yes i do read the entire thread, do you?

everything you stated in your last post I already stated previous. please go read the thread again. Who's foot is in their mouth now?

by the way, that quote right there defines what type of person you are. You like to generalize and stereotype people without getting to know them first. Have you been stalking me? You've read EVERY post I've ever made in EVERY forum? "everytime" is an all inclusive word. I'm sorry if I don't jump on the bandwagon like you, I actually go out and experience things, i.e. meeting new people, giving them a chance, etc, before I come to any conclusion.

Even with that, I still haven't "labelled" you yet simply because I don't know you :D

Thanks Moch. Too bad you are just picking a fight and we have since left the actual meat of the thread, that is why I took it to a mroe personal level. If you wish to keep grasping at straws feel free to do so, I seems to be your kinda thing.

Moch, the point is if a mob is already being killed and the person killing it doesn't die, don't you think its just inaetly wrong to steal it unless you feel like being an asshole? You don't need to know HNM ethics for this to be morally wrong.

*Mattaru gets categorical*

My opinion on the claim when yellow thing.

Lets say you are killing random HNM A+. Now A+ happens to turn yellow while you are inthe process os killing it. Now it is a simple fact that the NM has now become unclaimed and others now have the choice to claim that NM from you even though it is quite apparent that you are fighting it, that you got the original claim. Yet, someone else knowingly claims the NM while you are fighting it and it turns yellow. The question is would you not be angry, would you not feel like you were short changed, but even more importantly it is an obvious move to disregard another player, to do injustice to another player. He/she got the original claim and is due their chance to fight the mob until either they or it is dead. Now place yourself in that persons shoes, wpould you like to have a mob stole from you because it turns yellow. I would think not. So why would you do that to another player, whcih justifies them doing it to you, ergo (yeha that was for shits), willingly doing yourself harm. Overall, it shows people's ability to get lost in greed (not saying self interest is bad only when taken to certain levels it becomes quite detrimental) quite easily and weakness, unwillingness to be a part of a community where players cna be productive, instead of getting in MPK wars and claim steals, because no one likes having this happen yet people get caught up in themselves and forget this and do stupid shit. For yourselves and others get a grip and just stop it. Its bullshit, it shows weak character and no one likes it happening.

Now okay Lets all say you see aquaris sitting in a hallway at 100 % HP yellow unclaimed and not a sole in sight. Are you going to claim him as fast as your macro can go, or are you going to shout and ask everyone in the fucking zone if it might possably have been theirs and they lost claim somehow, or assume someong fought it and wipped. Claim obviously especialy when thats what you came to the area to do! If someone, (not nameing names) were to say excuse me I was kiteing that and I lost claim and you stole it by mistake, can I please have my mob. Like an inteligent person, you think that person is going to give it up, if they have ethics yes. If not you can chock it up to errors of claim and miss understanding.
How ever claiming mobs you see someone fighting is diffrent that can not be deffended! and the LS polociy is " Do not spam voke Stun or any other method to get claim, nor MPK, get the ToD and move on to the next one"

This is why i say knowingly Yosh, this situation is just "hey its a NM" *hits macro*. If it was someone elses and you truly did not know it was just an unfortunate situation but no one is at fault. Believe me I have had this happen to me with lizzy when some cure 3 and then Invincible but he did not get the claim someone passing by who just saw lizzy got it. I held nothing against that person because it was just a misunderstanding.

i was there with mattaru, i was passing by on choco and see lizy, hit attack, my scythe is about to connect, and this little guy vokes its, gets cure 3'd and lizzie runs. it was one of the funniest i ever saw. but i wish mattaru had gotten the claim, cause he rightfully out pulled everyone there

I personally didn't want to get involved in the BoL thing, I know WYS a bit and I consider him a friend and a decent person from what I know. But I do want to talk about the whole HNM ethics thing.

It's a great idea, maybe not as much as in rl when it's not simply a moral issue but also legal one(i.e. killing someone, stealing), but it has some effect. It's a great code to follow, and the people who do are considered great people and that's all fine. But you also have to realize that there are simply asses, liars, con-men, and the greedy. We are all in part each of these (in degrees), but some people make it their way of life. That's why despite moral and legal limits we still have murders and rapes, thefts and such. It's also about spur of the moment. The moldy gob situation could be seen/of handed in different ways.

1. The competition -notices- the monster went unclaimed, and wonders why. Seeing that it was due to sleep, they simply cure (if possible) or wait for them to either wake or die, in honor of moral and ethic codes.

2. The competition did not care, they saw the mob go unclaimed, knew why, and still stole it. Later when chastised about it they give out lies and reasons, apologized (without meaning it, basically doing the old "We fucking robbed your ass, and now I'm pretending to be sorry because I already got what I want" After all, if I had gotten a drop froma stolen HNM and kept it, I would of given all the apology they wanted. Why would I care? I got what I wanted.)

3. They saw it go unclaimed, and in spur of the moment they claimed it. This happened to me almost during modly mob, when the drg who got claim jumped on an agro to his friend, and seeing the mob go unclaimed I also diaed it because it was just spur of the moment. I stopped myself, but I understand how this can happen.

It's just the way it is, and whining about it won't do much. As much as the HNM Ethics are rightous and good, some people simply do not care, just as in rl some people do not care about the law. The fact that there IS no "legal" punishment (GM do squat) and the fact that is a game makes it worse. They stole it, they apologized, take it whichever way you will, it's been done. If you believe they meant their apology, believe it. If you think they are lying theives, avoid them and watch out for them. There really isn't a reason to go on about them and bashing them.

When you are there on the HNM feild, it's all up to people's personal morals and such. It's low to MPK, or steal mobs, some people do it. Just have to except that. I can't count the times people would wait until I soloed aqua to low hp with smn, then steal it.

Anyways, WYS, I would suggest at least talking to your members
