Being desperate to pay for my borrow Adaman Cuirass before the person who lent it to me is able to wear it (which will be soon), I have been responding to mercenary duty as of late. Well, a level 58 BLM named "Blu" was offering 70k for a Davoi Coffer Key. I thought it was a tad low but I accepted anyway. He had no idea what dropped them or where the coffers were or anything. I looked up all of this information for him. We ran through Monastic Cavern and zoned into that area with the shack used for Windy M8-1. Anyway, I see a JP party is there. I ask them if they are after keys or skillup, and they tell me skillup. I ask if we can join, and they say yes. Lo and behold, a coffer drops on the first mob.

Now here is where I fucked up. I trust people too god-damned fucking much sometimes. I should have asked for the money then and there. Instead, like a goddamn trusting moron, I passed. I realized my mistake immediately, but I thought "no, no one would scam me; that happens to other people". Well guess the fuck what? Blu disbands and runs off to get his coffer. I sent him a tell: "Forgetting something?^^;"

And he says, "no" A little unnerved, I told him "Alright with you to pay now?^^;" His reply: "u didnt do nething". I am now fully enraged. I explained to him that just because we got lucky and it dropped on the first mob makes no difference as to whether or not I get paid. If it takes 1 mob or 1000 mobs, the agreed amount was 70k.

Well now he's not answering me, so I know I've been had and I will never see the money. The purpose of this thread is both to get it off my chest and to warn the community: avoid Blu at all costs.

damn that sucks... shoulda asked money before passing key (like you already mentioned)... and you DID go online to check the information on what mobs drop key etc etc... so not like you didnt do anything... AND you did bring him there AND you asked that JP PT if you could join, etc etc... what you SHOULD have done was follow him and try to MPK him...

i hate those kind of fuckers...

Wow

First off I have to say I used to know blu pretty well. We were in the same LS about 6 months back or so. I have always known him to be a honest and straight up kind of a player, which is why I was shocked by this thread.

I have done many genkai and coffer key runs for gil myself so I understand where you are comming from. I don't agree 70k is low since usually the average rate for coffer keys are around 50k. However since this gear is basically priceless to each job, people usually pay what they can afford. I have done it for as much as 100k+ and as little as 10k before.

Anywho, I have to say I am a little disappointed in Blu if things did go the way you said they did. It seems that the lower players have this commen misconception that if you are 75 you are able to make a ton of gil. That gil is somehow much more important when your a lower level then when your at a higher level. Which is exactly the opposite, considering the prices on the best gear for each job are usually 10X that of low level gear, which means we need about 10X the amount of gil that lower levels do.

This is not a defence of his actions, which there is none clearly if things happened as you said. Not to imply that I don't believe you, just I have only heard one side of the story.

On one hand, when I go to do keys if there will be more then myself helping I normally tell that client upfront, and workout the payment accordingly. So by looking at what you said in your post I could understand him not wanting to part with 70k in that situation. However a deal was made regardless of good luck or fortune. Thats just how it goes, sometimes you are lucky and others you aren't.

On the other hand, like I said a deal was made. He offered 70k for his key, which he got. Regardless of who helped and how many he still agreed to pay 70k for the key. For all we know you agreed to give that skillup party some share of the gil you never recieved, and if you didn't all the better for you. I know I would be just as upset if something like this happened to me. It is not like there wasn't anything else for you to be doing then wasting your time to helpout someone else when you are yourself in need.

At the very least if he didn't feel getting that key and holding up his end of the deal was worth 70k, he should have atleast talked to you and attempted to workout some deal which worked into both your likings. Getting some amount of gil for your time and effort is better then nothing at all. You seem like a more then reasonable person and maybe had he made such an attempt, things would have worked out for both of you.

The thing I find the saddest about this whole situation is that Blu and many other lower levels don't seem to realise that not only is AF priceless, but so is your good standing in game. Such a thing like this can comeback to bite you later on, and no amount of gil is worth that.

Veteran if I was you next time I would do what many of us do, which is this, take all payments upfront before helping someone on a merc job. You may have lost 70k but atleast you learned a valueable lesson to protect yourself in future jobs.

I know the next time I speak to Blu or am asked for help with something by him I will make sure I ask him about all this. I only hope for his sake that if he decides to make things right and live upto his end of the deal it isn't too late.

I hope you can apply this to real life dude because this is an easy way to learn what happens in real life too.

I'm not saying don't trust anybody, I'm saying always be careful when it comes to money EVEN and EsPECIALLy when you think you can trust someone.

From what I've experienced, Blu is not the type to come up with solutions or compromise. He was quite happy to walk away with my gil. He thought I was bluffing when I told him I would let thousands of people know what he did, but he was wrong. He will, indeed, have to suffer the consequences of this. To anyone who thinks reputation doesn't matter, look at Colbwa. He was denied entrance from perhaps the worst gods LS on the server. Because of his reputation, he will not even be able to access the endgame, barring another server migration.

Even more wow

Although all the swearing didn't help things out on your part, all i have to say is this:

Blu shame on you. I personally would be embarrased to call you a friend after seeing this thread. Hope the wind staff is worth it since I know there will be atleast 2 end game LS's you wont be welcome in.

Dante agreed. Veteran I feel bad for you now, more so then before. These types of situations always suck and are reasons why it is so hard for people to find help in the first place.

Take comfort in knowning that Blu wont be welcomed in not only your SkyLS, but others including mine. Hopefully all sky LS's.

That's probably over half the "f bombs" I have ever dropped in this game. Even if I do feel the need to cuss, I manually "bleep" it, if you will, by typing @#$% or f*** or s**t or something of the sort. I have never been so profane in my life, but I'm sure you can guess why. ~_~

Lol

Yeah it is more then understandable Veteran. Hope in future merc jobs you say "Sorry no COD's". Once again sorry that this happened to you.

Dude pay me 20k i'll help him get a coffer key.. lol hes not getting out of a damn dungeon for a while

Ehhhh Veteran you are right here but it would have looked a lot better if you didnt spam the dude. What he did was wrong but icing on the cake would have been him saying all that while being cordial about it.

Hope you can get back at this little bitch. Unless you were wrong about him not knowing the pop locations or whatever, he contradicted himself by saying he already knew and way just 'too lazy.'

VETERAN GOT PUNKD

He didn't know. I asked him if he knew where anything was, and he said "uhh, i dunno". Yes, it would have been icing on the cake had I been calm with him but you have to realize how angry I was at the time.

Yes and look at Dua, openly stealing on screenshot and still allowed into another LS. People get away with others allow them to get away with. Blu is a BLM, put 2 and 2 together.

I think Dua's case was not so cut-and-dry though. I personally wouldn't want him in my LS because that is a huge load of drama he's taking with him, but I digress. Dua's case was a little more hazy because I think he did have a point in some of the things he was saying; his ideas about Prophecy stealing from the LS bank were far too specific to be completely false, but then again several OH members did mention that perhaps Dua didn't get anything because he rarely attended. I honestly don't know enough about the situation to place blame on anyone, so I really have no opinion.

With Colbwa though, there is no debate. Everyone hates him. End of story.
