they gives me MAB. cor.

Typically what you'll see is: people who have played and enjoyed BLU will choose that, and anyone else will choose COR. Same as if this was MNK vs. BRD. Obviously, any MNKs will say MNK. Most others will say BRD, because the BRD does stuff for THEM in a PT (besides making fights go faster due to more damage; that's going a bit too deep for some people :P).

Anyway, I'd say that BLU is sexiness given form, but we all know that's Naja. <3

Cor.

They do what they want, cuz a pirate is free. They are the pirate.

tra la feedle dee dee...

No opinion on this subject... seriously... >.>

Creating a thread about 2 jobs that have nothing in common is bad.
On that note, I won't give you a choice between the two.
Regardless, both jobs seem very good to have in parties.
Solo-wise, blue mage will perform better than a corsair by far.
Although with Quick Draw and Light Cards, there may be solo potential there.
If you get lucky, Corsair's 2hr 'can' be the best 2hr in the game.
Random Deal is a nice move also if used at the right time as well.

Phantom roll is a great buff move depends on which rolls the cor uses.
With racc, a good gun, and good bullets they can give extra dmg in parties.
Nevertheless, blu has its uses in parties and have some solo ability.
Sorting out spells to generate the wanted job trait is pretty awesome.

But I would hate fighting mobs to learn spells until you get the AF gloves.
Learning magic might be easy at first.. but annoying later for some spells.
Unless you the blue mage has sea access, they'll be losing a lotta nice spells.
Endgame Blue Mages with their spells can self SC light and darkness which is nice.

Magus AF set looks cool, but... so does Corsair's AF set.
A lot of MP can be consumed when playing blu though, maybe more than blm?
Getting interrupted when self SCing can suck though....
Every job in the game can be good or bad depending on what you need in a party.

From all these opinions, there's not really a winner between the two jobs.
Therefore, the time needs to come to stop this pointless bickering guys...
Well, that's all I'm gonna say; once again, I have no choice between the jobs.

So monks think monks rule, bards thing bards rule, cors think cors rule, blus think blus rule and if you have both leveled, you can't decide.
I perfer Cors because I've had some horrible pt experience with blu's, personally i've never been impressed by one but i have impressed myself as a cor hehe

blu is clearly better. because it is.

Every time i pt with a blu I would rather it was a corsair so Cor all the way. Blu's never seem to be as good as they tell everyone they are. Cor's are bards that can deal damage.

I believe that sex is not listed as one of the possibilities...

I'm rather upset..

I don't think anyone understood my post... lucky me ^.^

Play blu...to at least 60. The job is insane, and i agree...probably 60% of blu's are idiots and have no idea wha they are doing. I had to teach a level 45 blu how to self sc and mb it, and he was amazed at the dmg he was doing... And to khali, i agree for the most part, and yeah you cant really compare these two jobs. I've never played cor myself, so im sticking by blu is teh sex.

blu can lower mob magic defense by 8% and defense by 10% all in one cast, so same diff, just different wording.

COR is more about other people, BLU is more about yourself. In a nutshell. There are exceptions for certain abilities for both jobs of course.
This is only because people are as of lately still too lazy/stupid to figure out how to integrate a blu into anything. The example given above is just ONE spell available that'd help parties get faster kills. Throw on stinking gas and the pace goes even faster. I can imagine blu'd be pretty wicked in a lot of endgame activities--if only people weren't so locked into their "we need your blm..." mindset.

I would also venture to say that headbutt is about other people as well. Ninja loses his shadows, blu plays stun gun. Mob has high evasion, blu casts infrasonics. The red mage is a noob and/or sucks at chat filters? Blu uses blank gaze. Nin is getting destroyed, blu casts Actinic Burst. Whm keeps afk'ing, blu takes over (as best as he can).

Blu has a TON of versatility and is a whole new type of in-your-face support job. I would say that if you really think blu is about the player more than the group, you have probably played with immature blu's who don't know anything other than omgbignumber!!!

And yes, I agree. Just wanted to post my thoughts. I'm not attacking you. Hope it doesn't come out that way. Past my bedtime. Last post of the night. :)

Hmmm... These are the worst two jobs one could possibly compare. Both are great in the right situation.

I have to agree with Pakomen. Blu is a terribly complex job "to play well". That means thinking ahead which most players don't do. You have to equip the correct spells, taking into consideration Monster Correlation, Element and Type of Damage (example, Disseverment owns on Colibri because it is piercing dmg), you have to equip the right gear (are you using magical blu spells or physical?), bla bla bla etc.... It's a lot to think about and that's why I personally love Blu.

Blu offers more to a pt in my opinion. Just a few things blu can do: debuff defense, magical defense, strength, vitality, dexterity, accuracy, bind, stun, AoE stun, remove TP, sleep, slow, silence, stoneskin my pt, curaga my pt, heal a pt member (for about 350 HP) without /whm, stop HP/MP regen on a mob, deal fierce elemental dmg to a mob and TP burn a mob. Plus, Blu can SC/MB by themselves (and since meriting chain/burst affinity recast, can do it more often!). One of the most exciting aspects of Blu spells is that they have more than 1 effect. Disseverment deals physical dmg AND poisons, Mysterious Light deals wind dmg AND gravity. If the Blu knows their stuff, I guarantee a pretty good time.

Plus, there's the whole back-up tank aspect. I can Zepher Mantle, Cocoon and Metallic Body myself, head butt to stun a mob and have enough time to toss shadows back up (Ni and Ichi) without interruption as needed. That's not a bad thing to have in a pt.

I can't argue with a Corsair's sexiness... I have a thing for bad boy pirates. It just seems that 2 rolls (with a terrible 1 minute recast) and a few slug shots doesn't equate to the versatility and dmg of a Blu. PLUS that fact that the rolls are "Meh" without that job in the PT and then there is the issue with gear and weapons .... (same problem with Blu). I don't know why SE hasn't given Corsair better guns, less delay and more dmg.

I think both Cor and Blu are teh sexy!

I'm completely aware of how shitty these jobs are to compare. Why do you think I started this thread? >:P

What job do you find better? Which pwns which? WHO FAAKS WHO?!

Tell me about it  Explain! etc etc idfc, im just getting posts ;D
Well to me it looked like you wanted them compared. It's not a bad thing to compare these jobs. They just need context. Which some of us have provided.

I do think cor is sexy. I probably will go ahead and level that next just because bard is a little TOO support'ish for me. At least with cor I can roll dice and shoot a gun.

We can't solo darkness, Blu doesn't get Swift Blade.

I honestly have considered Blu for a while to be right in the middle of 2 other jobs that already exist: Rdm and Drk. Much better melee then rdm, lacking on some spells (phalanx, refresh). Much better spells then Drk, lacking on the melee (all our real "physical" dmg comes from our spells). A few have said that Blu is what Rdm was supposed to be. Hands down my favorite job in the game. Only job that has kept my attention for so long (started to get bored with Blm in the mid 60's, bored with Thf in the mid 40's, issues with skilling smning magic for smn). As a Blu, I love partying with Cor's (anyone who can refresh and give me acc+ is on my A list, lol). Blu is a difficult job to defend, because it's so easy for so many to be bad at it (which, if you remember, is the same reason why SE isn't gong to nerf Rdm anymore, because of the skill lvl required to "break" the job).

True, but to be fair, Wizard's Roll lasts for 5 minutes, while Enervation has some painfully short duration like 30 sec, that you'd probably know better than I. (Plus it's 48 MP and 60 sec recast, and presumably resistable. Awesome spell for preceding a skillchain however.)

I agree with you overall, and that's why I mentioned exceptions. BLU gets some really nice debuffs too, as well as buffs (mostly self-only, some - like Diamondhide - are party though), but the majority of blue magic is damage-dealing stuff.

Personally I like BLU better of the two, because I'm a big fan of versatility. That, and I already play BRD, and when I play COR it personally feels to me like playing BRD with annoyingly long recasts. (There are advantages too of course, such as damage that isn't 100% craptacular, it's just that my previous job leads me to notice the disadvantages more.)

i picked COR because it overall can change the party by alot. just like a bard.

BLU is cool for a versatile job, but im not going to pick BLU over any good old fashioned melee DD that is well equipped just because its BLU.

in short, yes, two different jobs to do two different things.

sidenote: if no other party member near the mob (tank/melee) need refresh, you make it much harder on a bard and time consuming trying to hit a blu w/ mp refresh. singing two songs for one person extra.
