Third Job
Ninja-Male
After reading Sanjo's thread about the Puppet Master, I'm interested in reading more about the other two jobs. Perhaps we can get some folks who have quested it, and leveled it a bit to give their two cents on how exactly it works, and their opinion as to how it will work in party based situations? Just wondering, it's late and I must stay up for the next 8 hours. Late night watch -.- ugh.

Blu~

over all i think the job is really neto!! cool charge animations, fairly large MP pool, comparable HP pool, not to mention that the job is looking really pivital, and mysterious from a game/story point of view.

My only complaint about the job is the learn rate, i learned foot smash, (can't remember exact name) after it being used on me two times, while iv had sandstorm used on me about 15 times, and i have yet to learn it. =\

If you have paitence for this job, i think it could be really rewarding!

I think SE did it this way so you would enjoy the job, and when you got a new spell, you would feel like you really did good.
I think BLU is my new main, and im giving up RDM for it, that should tell you how awsome i think the job is.

Keep in mind as a NIN75 and WAR75, I do not really delve much in the mage types, but BLU does truly look interesting to me. Of course, being a melee just about all the way through my time playing FFXI, I'm rather curious as to what melee gear is afforded a BLU.

Also, if possible, is there any chance at more detailed responses? I appreciate the effort set forth already, but looking for more of an open minded observation standpoint. What are your thoughts about the job? Strengths you've noticed thus far? Weaknesses? Party usefulness? Let's hear it all.

Cythe's loving blu, but he's one of the highest level blu on the server atm with a shitton of blue magics. The job sounds fun, especially once you start getting the really cool abilities.

once you start getting some of the magics, its hella fun.

I don't know much about this job, but I remember from the datamining that they came up with what, 200ish spells? I don't think you're going to learn every monster ability. Maybe dust cloud (sandstorm?) just isn't something that blu learns?

blu can learn it. one in my LS has it already. foot kick was a pain for him to get though. mainly cause of all the 360 noobs killing everything in sight.

Its fun, but its a pain in the ass to learn Blue Magics at such a low level since the mob you kill have to use the ability (which they usually DON'T do... most of the time you kill them before they can even use it).

And trust me, facing away from the mob to let it get enough TP to use an ability just sucks when you let it hit you for 10 min, only to use every ability except for the one you want ; ;

Oh well, it'll be easier later on when you can't kill the monster in 2-3 hits

Sounds like fun thus far. I'm curious, I wont be coming back for roughly another 33 days or so, perhaps we'll see our first BLU75 by then >.>? Keep posting more details about the job :)

I like it, though the spells can take a long time to get ( took me I think 10 hours to get something like 5). I believe it will be easier to get them in parties( for those of you who say you need to solo, bare in mind, SE stated themselves that you DO NOT need to be the target of the ability, therefor you could learn Screwdriver in a normal party in Qufim without being a tank) seeing that mobs tend to spam abilities in them.

As far as solo, you can't kill the mobs too fast, to allow them to use their TP.
So far what I've been doing is using sword on EM's and high DC's, and bare hands on low DC and EP's, sometimes turning from the mob to allow it to build TP.

As far as what spells I've gotten, pollen was first ( took something like 10+ uses),foot kick, the mandy VIT down ( name?), sandspin( got on first use, but worms have like 5 different abilities, lol), and power attack( main reason this took so long was finding beetles was a pain, alot of people in Ron yesterday.

Its a fun job, but for solo purposes, requires a lot of patience. Hoping Exp parties will be much better.

Same here, I cannot stand lv'n Mage class jobs... but OMFG BLU is fun!

Er... mobs should build TP faster if you hit them, even if you hit them for peanuts. Try using a dagger if you want to give the mob TP.

I wouldn't take BLU as a main probably, not sure though, haven't unlocked and tried it yet, but maybe as a subjob for rdm :P RDM/BLU, this may be a good solo combo for some of the mob's extra buffs and attacks.

Attention Blue Mages:

It might be possible to learn spells and abilities from mob blue mages.

Mamool Ja Mimickers love to spam blue magic.

Ah but Skaw you must be within 5 levels of the spell to be able to learn it.

Someone correct me if i'm wrong but doesn't BLU have to be your main to learn the abilities.
