Blue Mage spell names

What's that move called that the tripple clusters use that gives them Haste? Its the only mob I can think of that increases their attack speed <.<;

Something Ring. Starts with an R. But yeah, only haste ability I know of as well.

Oh, and also, once I've gone through the majority of the spells I'll go through it again and change around a bit, ans also try to fill out the unknown spells with possible candidates. I'm kind of sad though that the majority of the spells seem to be physical ones ; ;

Heh, I'm not sad, it looks like SE wants BLU to be upfront and melee(more power to em!), especially considering a lot of the abilities have the varies with TP, but all will most likely use MP, plus there's the mob vs mob factor to consider to enhance spell str/acc, there are still a lot of magic spells though, and we don't know which ones are SCable and MBable, we'll find out in a week though. I just think BLU is going to be what SE intended RDM's to be, fighter mages, and judging from the spells and their 269 sword skill, that's how they'll end up.

Can anyone find Spider Web from those? From the vid we saw we all know its supposed to be in there, but I just can't find a fitting desscription o.O;

Rot Gas vs those NMs and HNMs that regenerate at high speed? Disease for the win!

Rotting Gas
Description: Gives enemies within range a powerful disease that prevents recovery of HP and MP.
Stat Gain: HP-5
Type: Magic
Monster: Hound

This immediately occurred to me when I read it. And if you could duplicate the Buffalo attack "Lowing" which reduces TP and MP over time, you could have the most excellent "difficult monster" handler(I used staller originally, but not in the "hold it so no one else can have it" way) in the game. Rather, you have less TP moves, less magic spells over time, ultimately shortening the fight and making it easier.

The other thought that occurred to me reading the stat buffs part of the equation, is that a RDM/BLU can buff up his chances of landing debuffs by increasing his INT and MND.

You would get the stat increases regardless of whether or not your MP attack landed or was resisted, correct? So /BLU could lead to increased RDM debuff ability against the high-tier mobs, or a BLM could increase his INT to ensure less resistance...

This looks tasty any way you look at it.

Sadly, I'm rather sure it does the same as Rotting Gas do, as in prevents you from recovering HP and MP while /heal... Rather useless if you ask me XD

There's also the possibility these attacks will miss or be evaded the same way mob abilities are. BLU equivelant to a resist.

Most likely. The reasons they are strong towards US in most cases is because the mob is several lvls higher then us. Turn it around, and the BLU will eb several lvls BELOW the mob, meaning the attacks will be much weaker. BLU might sounds rather overpowered, but with that in mind it suddenly seem rather balanced <.<;

Oh, and btw, 31 spells are still missing in the list, help me find them! XD

:-D *drools* I like all the possibilities with BLU.
Nice set of spells.

Some were repeats which I'm guessing can be acquired through different monsters just like in previous FFs. I don't think they will just narrow it to just one monster type per skill unless its a unique skill.

Well, I don't think that's how it works... SE said a BLU's stats will be affected by the spells he chose to equip when he goes out to battle, so I'm rather sure the stat bonuses are for when you equip the spell, and not when you cast it.

Spell Name
Description: Reduces an enemy's TP. Additional effect: Blindness and "Bind."
Stat Gain: CHR+1 HP+15
Type: Physical?
Monster: Unknown

This is Light of Penance, I believe. Tonberry.

I already added that unless I forgot to paste it in from my word file o.O;

The concept of the spell-like ability missing is obvious, however, would the ability buffs not take effect anyway? I'm assuming the two effects are mutually exclusive, not dependent on the "spell" proc'ing on the mob.

My question for those of you that plan to level this job right away is: how many of you plan to build it to tank, assuming it is possible?

It might work, considering there are multiple abilities that are defensive. Add in some of the abilities to steal HP/MP and it is potentially very potent tanking (much like Ninja was not initially designed to tank). The dilemma being that you can only choose a certain number of "spells," and you might not be able to change course once you start down a particular path.

there's another haste ability in the game, although my chat filters prevents me from ever seeing what it's actually called when the mob does it (or if it even has a name, or if it's even a TP-based move)

aern's in al'taieu, when they put their bracelets on, it increases attack speed

That's not an ability though, that's more like a job trait that takes effect <.<; Its not called anything in particular.

And I honestly don't know what build I'm going to take. It really depends on what armours are avilable to BLU. I will probably go for all though, depending on what I'm needed as <.<;

blue mage sounds like ... a mage version of a warrior, a very diverse job that can be a support melee (/thf), average DD + debuff (/sam), tank and/or pure DD (/nin and/or /mnk)

they can be an offensive DD job with spells with high spike damage like a black mage, but can perhaps use other spells to take another role in a party, like a tank or maybe a healer

this sounds like possibly the best job in the game when its all said and done, very versatile

I'll never do a tank build, if it's possible, considering the fact that there are not that many defensive abilities, I only noted 4-5 on that list(and several are just other names for phalanx/stoneskin/protect, and I don't see RDM tanking in xp pts), and don't even know when you will get those, may not get til higher lvls, plus the fact the BLU 60 in the fanfest video had roughly 500-600HP and 500MP at lvl 60, so not gonna last thru that many hits, and if it's a cloth/leather armor(NIN can wear heavier armor), their AC won't be a big help at all, plus the mob buffs that people think are so uber they remember them being "powerful" because it was usually a mob you were xping on that used it, so usually VT-IT, but for a BLU it'd be like a EP using it with an IT beating on them. And choosing spells, you can learn all spells, you just set w/e "build" you want to do, you just choose the spells you are going to use in your Mog House and set those, you won't be stuck on one path.
