What's the best sub job for doing good blu magic dmg at lower lvls like dunes & quifim?

in dunes, anything basically. Maybe go /drk since it will boost your attack, str and magic, all three, or /pld. When you get to Qufim, you might wanna consider /nin since, and once you get to garlaige, /thf or /nin will last you the rest of the time you lv it.

and what gear is good at this lvl? should I just go mp and DD gear or should I go for int or mnd?

I'm currently a lv 18 Blu/Whm and its been great fun soloing really, I havent had much trouble against decent challenges or even a few toughs and having paralyse and other lower whm stuff helps me alot. I did this in party form also lv 10-17 and did more than my fair share of damage even without a DD sub added.

For the good of man, please dont sub NIN before 24. Thank You.

As for a serious answer... WHM if your soloing seems to be the consensus favorite. Partying is different, because BLU is so versatile, but you party leader will inevitalbly be a moron. Ask what you'll be fighting and what role they would like you to play, so you can chose your spells and gear accordingly.

Warrior is pretty much fool proof if your DDing at early levels, but if they want you to take another role, know before you arrive. Thats the best advice i can give you :)

Ninja Edit: 1500th post :P

You will solo 1-20 faster than you will party it, most likely. You won't be getting chain #5, but you won't be sitting on your ass waiting for a pt leader who doesn't know the first thing about blu to possibly skip over you.

Until 30, I'd go whm. The str from /war will boost your damage a bit, but your party leader will love you for healing breeze. Depending on the setup, you may not even need a whm if you go /whm as blu.

Post 30, /thf will take you the rest of the way. /nin is also useful, but all in all /thf has the leetsauce from 65+ since you get zephyr mantle.

Sorry, I know you're mainly talking about the low levels. /whm, /war, or /nin will all work. Other combos may also work if you feel like breaking out of the box.

Personally i went:

1-30, /drk

30-71, /thf

71-75, /nin

But, now looking back at it, i should of probably subbed whm 1-30, or at least 1-20.

Yeah Im currently going /whm and soloing is very easy. But I havent had time to try it out in a pt yet, so I will see what I will choose. thx

sub war isn't too bad in the dunes and blu can be a pretty good tank to 20.

A friend of mine tanked in crawler's nest as blu/war for one party I was in, so it's safe to say blu could tank even past 20.

I'm sure having another blu around for headbutt helps a lot though.

And he only did this for an hour or so until we could find a "real" tank. lol.

At those low lvls you just spam blugeon and headbutt. Mix mp and str. Sub whatever you want it won't change spell dmg dramatic at low lvl. I do think I was /nin after 24 to survive while spaming blugeon. Later lvls it will matter what sub you have.

#1. Acc

#2. Str

#3. Dex (mod for a good number of spells, and increase your acc further)

#4. MP

Your best dmg/per/mp spells will be physical, and the above list will effect them in order of importance.

Sidenote: Headbutt-- learn it-- set it -- use it
It is single-handedly a Blu's best friend through most of your experiences. And acc effects it greatly. Nothing like completely nullifying Bomb Tosses in the Jungles ( with sushi, and provided you are horribly overcamping, i.e. 5+ min fights for 250+ per mob, only getting chain 1 or 2)

Btw, acc will effect your average dmg from bludgeon greatly, since it is a multi-hit spell.

20-29, don't overlook /rng. Acc+10 as a job trait.

I had considered doing this myself, but I think I went /war for these lvls (can't remember, alot of my lvls were gained through soloing spells, lol).

For any job, this makes me cry.

my plan some done of course

1-29 /whm

30-75 /thf

/nin to me just seems meh /drk and /pld? wouldnt recommend them could get more from another sub

For bludgeon it's a unique spell it's actually modified and has great results with a mod of Chr 30%

Lol why? Sushi has more of a positive effect on Blu then any other melee, because of the effect of physical acc on our physical spells. Using att+ food even at this lvl would be gimping yourself.

Found this little bit of info out late myself, but I still did well with just upping my acc alone (which makes it easier, so that I'm not macroing in all that equipment for 1 spell every 10 seconds). Acc also helped my tp gain obviously which meant I didn't have to spam spells and then rest to be very efficient.

Because sushi is percentage based. Before lv30 you'd get more acc by eating a Jack-o-Lantern, which is a static +10. Sushi in the early levels gives less than +10.
