Job Discussion sounds awesome, RL Flameboard... not so much.

RSI's pretty much RL Flameboard anyway. Except you can't flame people here rofl.

The job boards seem like a cool idea to me. Controlling the posted content there sounds like a good idea in general. I'm certainly not against restricting the flow of misinformation in what will be touted as authoritative content. I would just say, and this might be unreasonable, that the decision aught be made by a council of some sort. Ideally a council per job, but a diverse council if not. QCDN has job experts to cover every base, for instance Jamal for warrior and paladin, Bajaratt for monk and white mage, etc. We could scrounge up the people. I don't think I'm qualified for such a council, so don't construe this as asking for power. It'd be great if every job had three qualified players to judge incoming content for it. The decision aught not be a dictatorship. Three skilled players at each job, so that there can be no split decision.

That would be the ideal situation, but in reality, gathering 60 members and rationing authority would be a huge ordeal. So maybe gather one member per job and they vote on incoming content like a jury. After all, if you've taken one job to 75 and are expert at it enough to be selected for this jury, it means you've been paying attention while doing stuff with others, and would (at least collectively with 19 others) be qualified to judge whether information is correct or not.

This would go some way in rewarding demonstrated in game skill for members not quite right for actual forum staff duties. I'm sure lots of people would love to be a part of making QCDN better, and acting as information quality control staff for a limited sector of the board would fit the niche.

As for how to select the members, it shouldn't be too hard. The people for each job are just kind of known. They could be selected by staff. Unless a choice were grievously inept, I doubt there would be any problems. It shouldn't be that way though, because QCDN has at least one undisputed authority on every job that I can think of off hand.

Not a bad idea per say, but I don't think it would be a good idea to have one mod for each job. There is at least one job out there that could have a hugely negative effect if the person most vocal/opinionated/experienced in said job was appointed mod of that section (and no, that wasn't a jab at Jamal). I'd be more open to having the jobs sectioned off (Mages, DD, Tank, Support) and a mod appointed for each section.

Just like the rest of the staff, this panel would have restrictions. They'd be determining facts. An accurate guide on the most effective way to melee with a mage would be passed, so long as it were, indeed, the most effective way as advertised. Meanwhile, an inaccurate guide on playing a back-ranks cast-&-rest mage would be rejected. A guide claiming that mages meleeing in an exp party is efficient and effective would be rejected as well. There's no real means of corruption. The reason I suggested a panel of the more renown forum experts is because gear selection is such a finicky issue. We need the parser addicts to make sure suggested information is up to date. Anyway, to reiterate, I wasn't suggesting that we have a jury to enforce popular opinion. If an unpopular idea is described accurately, it should be fine. The panel would only enforce accuracy.

The job I'm thinking of that would cause alot of problems for those that play it is PUP. The only person that actively thumps that bible is pchan. Putting him in charge of the PUP forum would be a pretty big mistake.

Naotakun would make a great mod for that section. He knows PUP backwards and forwards.

With this little tidbit of information I did not know before, I now have no problem with each job having its own mod.

A mod for every job forum...that is a lot of mods.

That's what I was thinking. One would think it'd become easily overloaded (if only in perception) with 18 additional moderators, even if they had more limited powers.

If they implement the job mods to have similar powers as the leaders of the private forums, I really don't see how it could be overloaded.

There could easily be overlap. I know a few highly qualified people that could handle 3-4 jobs effectively.
