Just as an FYI and a chance to give more feedback for what's to come...here's a look of how the XI section will look within the next week. If you have any suggestions, I'll gladly read. The XI Job Section may not be used however since I have gotten some arguments against it from the team.

Doesn't appear to be much different other then you seem to have pulled Dynamis Scheduling out of the Event Schedule...

The jobs discussion could make it easier for users to find helpful information on jobs they want to further level.

could give or take with those changes tho...
 
As I mentioned to you in person, I like it the most because it's in nighshift (which didn't break Arc ;) )

The organization looks really good though, good work.

Miros likes nightshift, I like Element. It really is a win win situation because we find both flaws -- like missing images in the portal section >.<. Or when Miros doesn't mention how bad tagging looked in nightshift <.<;

And yea, Element board breaking needs to be fixed somehow. I'm still figuring that one out.
 
I like the job forum. THere are always a lot of questions about a single specific job in General FFXI. I say keep the job forum imo.


Edit: Will this open up to more mods?
 
Would you organize historic posts and put them in the appropriate job forum?
 
there's no fanworks there unless it'll be a sub forum? Or it could be down lower since there's space on the scrolling bar

i like the look of it, very clean and neat

edit: just remembered fan works covers general art, not ffxi only

We would be going back an X amount of pages and seperating them into the appropriate forums. Something that is too old will remain in General FFXI Discussion unless bumped and requested to be moved.

Personally I'd like to see the Job Forums there, and will be more then happy to have members write up guides for the jobs they've been which we can sticky in the forums themself. But I need to get Arc on that bandwagon. C'mon folks! Help me convince him!
 
Do it Arc. Or you'll be sorry.
 
The only problem I see with job-specific guides is dissension between what is right and wrong to do. Would we list all guides written, have them be reviewed by the moderator of the forum, etc is just one question with the amount of work to be done.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for it. I need an e-peen Steel Cyclone thread here, jk. But there are a lot of things to consider as well.

I think it would be neat to have those making guides or tutorials of any kind as a journal entry, then have that entry posted in a very well kept, locked thread so it does not accumulate clutter. If someone has something to submit, they should have it sent to a moderator, looked over then posted in said locked thread instead of having to go through the same repetitive copy and pasted stuff over and over. So if its job related

Blue mage forum

gear set up for blue mage 1-75
Food guide for blue mage 1-75
Solo Guide for blue mage 1-75
Spell Locatons for blue mage

something like that. could do the same for every job class.

Job forums would be great as long as interest was maintained in them. At first I thought that might be kinda hard to do but think about it:

1) Person A posts a guide on red mage melee, when it's appropriate and when it isn't, what gear to use, etc
2) Person B disagrees with points 1 and 2, but otherwise thinks it's good.
3) Person C is new at RDM and thanks the topic creator
3) Person D disagrees completely and a new guide in his own terms
4) ???
5) Profit! The discussion continues as people point out the pros and cons of each strategy/gear setup/etc

And then even if a consensus is reached, there's always new equipment and such that'll come out in the next patch...
