Brady Guide Blunders

1) Red Mage as a main job: Unlike the other mage jobs, it is possible for them to be effective fighters, although they need an added boost to Hit Points and melee damage.

Clearly we've be paying for this one for 4 years with no end in sight. I remember before I ever installed the game my goal was to be a RDM/PLD lol. I wanted to be some type of magical tank I guess....

By level 15 that fantasy pretty much went out the window. Though I guess with the rise of RDM/NIN as an alternative HNM tanking option, I may have got half my wish afterall lol.

I wanted to be drg/smn for 2 pets?!

I wanted to be like Sesshomaru and be a Rdm/bst,since he ordered that gigas around in his first appearance, and used a magical sword...

Of course, I learn that rdm/bst isn't all that great if your bst isn't all the way to 75...

I stopped reading right there.

I think I shredded that guide when I cleaned my room last week.

so it would be safe to assume that you only clean your room once every few years? :p

Say what you will about their awful job suggestions (rdm DD, war/whm), but for quests/missions I got my money's worth out of the guide when I first started playing.

This is so true. I still have two version of the brady guides, I think 2006 and 2007 maybe? I cant remember and don't feel like digging them up to check. However, they were a huge help for a long time. Since there was no Windower access at first its not like you could just tab over and check something online. Honestly, if the windower didn't exist and SE hadn't decided to finally make the game have a windowed mode I would still use those guides whenever doing the first few rank missions and doing the original advanced job quests that I haven't bothered to unlock yet.

I was a 30WAR/8MNK with sword and shield, because I wanted to be a PLD. Thanks Brady!

I took rdm/nin all the way to 61 before I figured out why my party invites where so few and far between then I took the time to lvl blm and whm-took me little over month and a half to take rdm to 61 so I could catch up to my buddy-then he switched servers -_-

I used that guide alot for info early on, aside from the job issues, it listed all the town quests nicely and had helpful maps, the various crafting lists and weaponskill, and beastry were also quite helpful to beginning gamers who didnt go to online websites.

I dunno it was just nice to have all that in a book form I could browse over at work away from the PC I think any reasonable gamer learned quickly what to take seriously and what not to within its pages.

Yeah it was helpful for quests and missions, but aside from that it's lultastic.
