"Well that didn't take long did it? Blizzard Entertainment's Burning Crusade expansion (released on January 16) for the ultra popular MMORPG World of Warcraft is already a huge success. With a worldwide total of nearly 2.4 million copies sold in the first 24 hours of availability, the game has instantly become the fastest selling PC game ever in North America and Europe."

So how many years until we can expect a real game from them, like Warcraft 4 or Diablo 3?

I'm still waiting for starcraft 2.
They're scared to make Starcraft 2, because if it wasn't up to par, Korea would nuke them. Seriously.

Didn't they cancel it?

"Indefinite hold" is the term they used. Blizzard wasn't even making it in the first place. It was (multiple) third party. That game got passed around to different teams like a cheap whore.

Christ I hate WoW ...the reason it's so popular is because a rock can ding lvl 70 in 14 minutes of play.

And by this i assume you mean they give their community what they want.. play without having to make a work ethic out of it. How terrible.

FFXI has never seemed like work to me. WoW has the same kinda things as XI in terms of BCNM/Instances and end game drama. I could go on with more comparisons, except with WoW 400% more retard stacked on top. Ive said it before and I'll say it again, FFXI is hard to get to 75 for some jobs with LFP time and all that shit factored in. working harder for something that takes longer is;

A: More rewarding
B: Impliments a filtering process to weed out pussies / people who aren't skilled enough to make it and quit due to birth defects relating to mother drinking heavily during those important stages of early life.

With lolWoW you need to deal with:
An easier game, ergo more retards that the pillow case / bed sheets would of made better use of that genetic material than the person behind the character could ever dream of.

I'm not saying that ALL people who play wow are morons by ANY means, just stating that if you think this game has it bad for morons, an 8 million player base is bound to have WAAAAAY more.

Analogy.

WoW: buying an Acura Prelude with $8/hr job
FFXI: buying an Enzo Ferrari with $8/hr job
75DRG: buying a B-152 Stealth Bomber with $8/hr job

All i can glean from this post is you pay entirely too much attention to people and their drama in a video game like most people who play XI at least on this server. As far as assholes and retards go, you'd notice them more on XI if people bothered to play it anymore.. but they don't. Naturally with a larger sample you can find more people that leave a bad taste in your mouth. The idea is to move past that high school internet drama bullshit and just keep your head down and play.

WoW taught me to ignore the morons and get comfortable with average people who play the game well and to use the larger player base and anonymity to my advantage. As opposed to having foreigners i can't talk to or rabid fanboys with nothing interesting to say whose lives are completely dominated by the game they play.

I'm not about being rewarded and feeling like i've lolaccomplished something on a video game. I'm about having fun while i play, not sitting around staring at the marginally well rendered cobblestones of where the hell ever people sit around and do nothing on XI.

WoW is faster to be sure. Go talk to Naxx raiders about easy. There's more than a few people who can make the boast that XI was entirely too easy. I'm not one of them, but they're out there. On both counts WoW and XI the players are at fault for most of the things you could count on to ruin the experience. The difference is XI forces them on you whereas WoW doesn't if that's what you'd prefer.

Edit: I'd also like to add that i found it increidbly amusing the anti-WoW sentiment XI builds and has built since it's inception (to the point i was carrying a torch and pitchfork against WoW for quite some time myself), meanwhile WoW players could give a flying rats ass about you guys. It's incredibly ridiculous and it really does show which player base has the insecurity issues and epenis envy. I'm glad i didn't let the notions and habits i picked up on XI keep me away from WoW for too long.

Ahhhhh.... Just let the people who like WoW play it. And let the people who like FFXI play it.

Enough with the dirty comparisons already.

Wasen't trying to be overly dirty about it but the simple fact of the matter is they're two different social environments. If you go to WoW from XI looking for the same community/social environment naturally you're going to be disappointed .. or educated on how to disassociate a little while playing a MMO.

XI is like cheers, everyone knows your name. WoW not so much and it shows. I see alot of posts around here from people who've never even bothered to play WoW and can't stop screaming about how easy it is and how all the people are retards. Meanwhile i don't hear or see anyone on WoW caring half a wit what you guys are doing or how you're doing it. It just strikes me as odd being on the outside looking in now. <.<

Edit: More on topic ... the numbers speak for themselves, honestly.
