Bush "oops my bad"

I'm diggin your christmas colors.

If my mother was the the president and almost choked on a pretzel, I would never let her live it down. So you bet wrong. And I don't have a boyfriend, I have a girlfriend.

If you don't think it's funny, I think maybe you just don't get it.

Someone choking on a pretzel isn't funny.
The most protected man in the nation and elected leader of the free world choking on a pretzel is hilarious.

Glad you liked the colors, I used them to separate points.

Maybe you don't get it, it doesn't matter who it is, you, your mother, your mother who is our president, your boyfriend, our great appointed leader, the oldest supercentenarians on this planet, if you or someone approaches the limit of choking to death on something, it's not funny regardless of one's position. Period.

I laughed when O-ren decapitated the yakuza boss in Kill Bill and when they held up the severed head in Tropic Thunder with all the meat falling out. Do you have any nasty decapitations in your past that should stop me from finding those hilarious as well?

We'll have to agree to disagree on what's funny, I guess.

Its not really a question of whether choking to death on a pretzel is funny or not, what the blogger is trying to do is say you would have to be a complete idiot, totally devoid of any intelligence to choke on a pretzel, which is not true.

You're comparing 2 purely comedy based motion pictures, a montage of cut and paste camera scenes and altered visual effects to a real life situation. Does not fair quite well.

That's fine, opinion or not, some people may find it funny, that's an opinion. But to bring it out and attempt to backup yourself with "oh it's not like you've never belittled anyone's intelligence before, lighten up" which is a moot point to the original topic, is completely illusory.

My point is based on fact that if you're in danger of dying or in pain, it's not funny. Or in THs case, when he tried to alter the original argumentative point it doesn't matter who you are, if you're in danger of dying or in pain, it's not funny.

I didn't do that, although I'd agree with the "lighten up" sentiment.

He lived though so why can't we laugh? If he died, sure, I can see it being a touchy subject but he lived. I've gone through things that caused me vast amounts of pain and I laugh at them now.

Holy blown out of proportion batman!

The fact that one of the most hated people in the world was almost taken out by a pretzel is funny - if he had died it wouldn't of been funny.

My little sister almost choked to death on a french fry when she was 3 - I still laugh at her 20 years later because of the way my parents grabbed her by her ankles and shook her upside down in the middle of the kitchen. Lighten up people.

lol. I laughed, am I a bad person now too?

Not speculating on if it's alright to laugh at Bush choking on a pretzel or not, but are you seriously comparing laughing at a fictional event to a real one? I mean, yeah, if you read about guy in the Santa suit going on a killing spree in the news, and then joked about it, yep you are a bad person.

Yes. We're all bad people for laughing at, as Trippy said, the most protected and locked-down person in the world for choking on a pretzel. So is Robin Williams for including it on his DVD presentation from HBO (BACK AWAY FROM THE SNACKS, SIR!). We're also bad people for laughing at anything related to injury or death.

People still joke about the Kennedy assassination and make fun of it. Or about George H. W. Bush becoming violently ill all over Japanese (or was it Chinese) officials at a dinner party. Chevy Chase making falls all the time on SNL in the 70s because Ford was an idiot.

Guess we're all bad people.

They uncovered a valid reason to pull the pardon, I don't see why we're knocking Bush here.

Indeed. As opposed to, say, Clinton, who blatantly pardoned campaign contributors, Bush found out one of his pardons went to a contributor, and revoked it.

How does that make you a bad person? I honestly found that Santa thing funny. Sure it sucks for the people but it affects me in no way. Hell, I've died before and I find it funny, my friends find it funny, my family finds it funny.

It's not like I'm saying those people deserved to die or something prickish like that. It's the humor in that Santa snapped. Death sucks but we can't be uptight about it.

Unless, I'm different since I have a different view on life and death because of my disease.

Yeah, those pesky contributors. What about these? These charges should be erased?

William Thomas Alvis III (Possession of an unregistered firearm, distribution of cocaine)
Marie Georgette Ginette Briere (1982 possession of cocaine with intent to distribute)
Brenda Jean Dolenz-Helmer (reporting or helping cover up a crime)
Mark Lewis Weber (1981 Selling Quaalude tablets, selling, using, and possessing marijuana )
Jerry Dean Walker (1989 cocaine distribution)
David Lloyd St. Croix (1989 disposal of stolen explosives)
John Gregory Schillace (1988 conspiracy to possess cocaine for distribution)
Daniel Figh Pue III (illegal treatment, storage and disposal of a hazardous waste without a permit)
Donald Lee Pendergrass (1964 armed bank robbery)
Richard Harold Miller (Conspiracy to defraud the United States)
Larry Paul Lenius (1989 Conspiracy to distribute cocaine)
Larry Lee Lopez (1985 Conspiracy to import marijuana)

Yes, I'm comparing a fictional event to a real one. It's all wrapped up in the subjective nature of humor. Daniel Pearl's widow probably isn't going to be laughing at those things, but that doesn't mean I have to clam up.

I must be a hideous person, because I cracked jokes about the Santa killing spree. Then again, I'm a newspaper man. We build layers of cynicism like an oyster creating a pearl until we're barely recognizable as human anymore. We were cracking jokes in the newsroom about 9/11 the day it happened. Gallows humor is part of the trade.

Possibly you don't know the circumstances behind them.

for example

David Lloyd St. Croix (1989 disposal of stolen explosives)

In some places the explosives could be something as simple as an M-80

Daniel Figh Pue III (illegal treatment, storage and disposal of a hazardous waste without a permit)

When I worked at Wal-Mart we had somebody charged with that for changing his oil in the parking lot next to a storm drain. He was also being a total dick to us and the cops, probably why he came down so hard on him.

Also remember not all of these people are still in prison, some of these people Have turned their lives around, became community leaders, volunteer to help out troubled kids etc. etc. etc. A presidential pardon nearly cleans that conviction off your record (but doesn't expunge it) that means your right to vote and own a gun are restored.

Yes because that guy that was convicted of armed robbery needs to own a firearm again.

I think that a good portion of the drug offenders that have been pardoned were all dealing coke. Bush's former preferred choice of recreation. That, is comedy.

wow finally back on topic and not discussing whether choking on a pretzel is funny or not lol! I don't quite understand the Presidential Pardon tradition. Why pardon drug dealers? It sends a bad message, especially when our country is supposed to be cracking down on drugs.

Regardless as to the comical aspects of choking on a pretzel... A monument must be built to it and every January 14th must be forever more Pretzel Day. Meaning that it is coming up soon and we should prepare festivities.

As of right now that day is reserved for the following events.

January 14

* National Dress Up Your Pet Day
* Bald Eagle Day
* National Hot Pastrami Sandwich Day

I think that National Pretzel Day has a place

Although as of right now National Pretzel day is April 26th

I guess I'd say it all just depends on the person... in that, sometimes people just crack jokes because, well, that's how they deal with something. Others do so because they just lack basic human compassion for other people and honestly don't care. If that's how you feel about a little girl being shot in the face, or a plane flying into an tower full of people, there's no point arguing with you about it, because there's something about you that's probably never going to change.
