Started playing this today, just story mode atm.
Pretty fun, love how the action of ducking and covering feels so real and strategical. The smoothness of everything feels great, and i love sniping some people. the night vision is the best in any game ive played. Im not too far in it so i wont say much yet, but its a pretty decent shooter. Albeit not the best and certainly will not be able to pull me away from halo 3, but it is fun so far!
 
just lettin ya know i hate you now lol. i called and they arent sure now if they are gettin it tomorrow. :| but they have the guide in. makes sense huh. so im off to pick up the guide.
 
I've been playing mine today, no online play yet. Just getting a feel for everything before I make my way into online play. I must say, this game is pretty badass. I got it on the PS3, but it's the same game, so no problems posting in 360 section lol
 
I wanted to pick it up but damn Gamestop were only giving out pre-orders. Pissed me off since they had enough, they said I could pre-order and pick it up tomorrow. So I went to Walmart instead.. but they didn't have it! I forgot to check FYE and now everything's closed.
 
I haven't tried Keyboard and mouse on the PS3. There is no place to change it to keyboard/mouse, so not sure if it will work. Might as well get the PC version if you want keyboard/mouse. I didn't find it necessary. When playing through the solo player missions, if you tap the aim key while close to a dude, it will target him. Makes it easier for killing.

And just finished this game on one step above normal, forgot what the name is of it. Pretty fun play through. By the time I finished though, there seemed to be no one online to play. Of course, it was like 5AM lol
 
Well just online for a bit to try it out. Did a little Team Deathmatch. Got enough kills to rank myself up to 5. I like the level up system it has. My weapon of choice is definitely the AK47 or whatever the shotgun is called. I gotta keep leveling up so I can eventually get myself the 50cal sniper rifle. Then people will really be in trouble. There weren't as many maps as I had hoped, but they will add more hopefully.
 
I played the mutliplayer Beta. The .50 cal sniper you won't be seeing for a while Lanien. I evne played the last day when they let you get to rank 25. By rank 25 you still don't have the .50 cal sniper. I will be picking up my copy today and trading in Halo. I am so happy to be getting rid of Halo.
 
Yeah, I played the beta too. 50cal doesn't come until rank 40+ or something like that. I forget the exact.
 
Picked this up today and am only sticking to the single player so far. Will do multi when I finish single. And I gotta say, so far.. I love it. The graphics are beautiful and the gameplay is just amazing.
 
Wait til you get to the sniping mission. That level to me seemed to have the best graphics of the entire game.
 
Could someone explain how the ranking system gets you weapons? I understand that you rank up and you get weapons, so far from the .50cal talk, but how does that affect anything. Different starting weapons or secondary weapons, or what?

That level was fucking awesome. Sniping dudes as the come running in packs and hearing the claymores you set blow up on the side, amazing. And yeah, the graphics on that level were sweet.

As with everyone else, im sticking to the SP until i finish. I'm about done with Act 3 right now, anyone know how many there are total?

Just finished the game.

Amazing.

That sniping mission in Chernobyl was easily one of (if not the) best missions in the game.

There's the prologue and the 3 acts, Raider. Then after the credits there's the epilogue level, which seems unrelated to the rest of the game's storyline, but it's fun nonetheless.

Sweet I'll have to finish it up. Just tried online, pretty sweet you get to make you're on class, pick your weapons nades and attachments. And god i raped with the m16. 17 and 4 my first round 18 and 5 my second. Oh, and the knife is win.

It ups your total arsenal selection. I'm not sure about secondary weaponry, if I had to guess I'd say secondary too, but you get new primary weapons, attachments, etc. It's like a RPG level up system. The higher you go the more gear you have access to.

Makelith have you played Rainbow6 Vegas? It is the same thing as far as unlocking weapons. As your rank goes up you are allowed to enter a match with the unlockable weapons. The class adjustments are cool but kinda make it easy lol. There is an adjustment you can turn on that every time you are killed you automatically drop a grenade to kill the unexpecting person who has killed you. This is something i took pride in with a game like halo, hell i even practice it and think its a huge challenge not all can master. "Killed from the Grave" type of thing. CoD4 ruined that with alot of other things lol. The online is cool and the ranking up is very very nice. This will sound weird but i cant explain it right. It is too easy with the class additions, yet when everyone has the additions i am sure it will be just too hard lol.
 
This game is so much fun. I did a bit of ranking up today. I think I got to Sergeant II before calling it quits. I love all of the different types of matches that are available. So far I have been raping in Free for All and Team Deathmatch, but I am really loving the capture the flag type one (forget the name) where there are 3 flags and when you capture one, you have to defend it right at that same spot.

As for the ranking up and what you get, it basically gives you more weapons in your arsenal, as well as adding "Perks". I am loving Last Stand. I basically always get a kill when I get killed. I go into every match with my M16, and the perks I use are Special Grenades, increased bullet damage, and Last Stand. I also have the laser scope on my M16 that I got by doing the challenge of getting 50 kills with the weapon. I am working on the Headshot one now, then I will probably switch to the Carbine or AK47 and rank up those weapons. Doing Free for All is easy for those since it is what most low ranking people play lol I was doing a Free for all with a bunch of people on voice chat, and they were all getting pissed at how many times I killed them, so they started teaming up on me.

I haven't noticed, but is there online coop for the missions or no? I saw the thing marked split screen, but I figured that wasn't for online play, but I may be wrong. If there is coop, anyone interested?
 
On the back of the box it says "players - 1 to 4". However, the buzz on the CoD4 forums is that there isn't campaign co-op or multiplayer split screen. Maybe they left it open for future patches or messed up their box info, I dunno :/ I think they should have done campaign co-op but split screen multiplayer is a no no to me.

Anybody play through thinking, "Wow, finally a game better than Goldeneye"? Took long enough but this game just took Goldeneye out of my #1 FPS slot. As for the graphics, I don't think I've seen better.
