Campaign Protips:

<<Whm x2 (two char to 75) and I did not know this. You know why I've leveled whm to 75 twice (and 50+ on a 3rd)...because I like helping people. Would be total instict for me to heal someone that I noticed had low hp.

Totally agree with the above statement.

Drives me nuts, personally, to see people standing around with -HP, even at the AH.

I'm sorry that guy made you skp the event, I'm sure it was quite frustrating. However, you can't be sure if he was curing you because he wanted EXP/AN or because he's got crazy healing issues like I do.

Can I have the last 30 minutes of my life back?

This is a rather stupid flame that just displays someone losing their temper over some dumb trivial elementary school shit.:rtfm:

I'm not going to /blockaid for two lousy seconds.

You're assuming it'd do anything. Telling mages to not cure unless I go under 1000 HP because I can restore 680 HP on my own results in virtually no change in activity, and thats when they don't have hard ons for curebombing cause it gives them points.

That's some lazy bullshit imo. This is the problem right here. Not everyone is gonna predict what you are doing.

The simple remedy was the following:
Skaw, you need to take a deep breath and realize that this person had good intentions. If the person curing you really bothered you that much, then you could have had done 3 things:

a) /blockaid
b) Kindly send him a /tell saying "{Cure} {No Thanks}" That way even if the person didn't speak English you could get your message across.
c) Wait until he was done

None of these options involve calling the person a retard or taking the time to flame him over something so stupid. You need to take your elitist attitude and stow it somewhere so people don't have to deal with it.

Learn to fucking read. I already said the Cure II was only for 30s. An obvious indicator that he didn't need to unnecessarily cure anymore.

It doesn't matter if he was trying to help. I don't know how someone can go through to level 75 and not know casting or otherwise doing something to someone yanks them out of events.

In all honesty I didnt know about this NPC deal and outside actions until I was lvl 75 on WHM and BLM. But you cant expect everyone to know this cause it rarely happens that someone is curing you while you are next to an NPC. But even so you could have just done this:

paraphrased

a) /blockaid
b) Kindly send him a /tell saying "{Cure} {No Thanks}" That way even if the person didn't speak English you could get your message across.
c) Wait until he or she was done

He saw me run up to the NPC. He saw my sword icon disappear. I'm sure he saw my face look back at the npc, since you know, you can see that kinda stuff.

I dont know much about campaign since I just got into the expansion yesterday but still you have enough time to, make a SS, rant about it for a few hours (I guess) then it would not have killed you to take the small amount of time to:

a) /blockaid
b) Kindly send him a /tell saying "{Cure} {No Thanks}" That way even if the person didn't speak English you could get your message across.
c) Wait until he was done

IT DOESN'T FUCKING MATTER. THE POINT IS HE CURED WHEN IT WAS OBVIOUS WHAT I WAS TRYING TO DO, IRREGARDLESS OF HIS INTENTIONS

Clear enough for you, moron?

Still:
Skaw, you need to take a deep breath and realize that this person had good intentions. If the person curing you really bothered you that much, then you could have had done 3 things:

a) /blockaid
b) Kindly send him a /tell saying "{Cure} {No Thanks}" That way even if the person didn't speak English you could get your message across.

Honestly, do you guys really believe yourselves when you say if I told him to stop, that he'd stop? Did you miss the point where I fucking tell mages I have Chakra ready, and they still don't let me fucking use it?

The main point: You didn't say anything to him in your SS. If you had said to stop and he didn't you would have a valid argument with the right to flame on and rant but you didnt

I'll be amused if people go out of their way to deliberately cure you near campaign NPCs after this.

QFT. <3 Vilurum's posts.

Come to think of it people do use /blockaid during Ballista so that they can drop their petras in.

You *can't* stand at the NPC and cure for 600/600. It caps at 500/250. That said, if you see me standing around curing at odd intervals, I'm still working out the exact time limit caps, melee damage equations, nuking equations, jutsu equations, and so on.

Another interesting point which any healer can attest to (and anyone who's never levelled a healer, or who hasn't levelled a healer in some time, might not have thought of)... we tab around to targets and stare at their HP bars in the lower right, and then cure one based on that HP bar.

It's *very* rare, unless we get an out of range or line of sight error, that when we mages are in "curing mode", we actually look around and see where the target is actually standing. Yeah, we worry about it when buffing or raising or something, but usually not when curing.

So chances are also pretty good that he was blissfully unaware of your location.

Admittedly he might not have been. He very well could theoretically have noticed where you where, known what you were doing, and cured you anyway. (And if he saw this flame, he'd probably be more motivated to do so...) However, Occam's Razor dictates that this is far less likely than having *at least one* of the following be true:
- He didn't see where you were at all (see above)
- He didn't know that curing skips events (see attestations from other mages in this thread)
- He did know both these things but quite distractedly didn't put two and two together to realize he was troubling you

So there is a 25% chance that he was doing it on purpose? I like those odds.

I didn't assign probability values to the other three possibilities, and furthermore the first two can overlap.

Hey guys, one time I was doing a Campaign, and I was trying to talk to an NPC to get my allied tag cashed out at the XP cap, but this Orc kept spamming battle dance on me and giving me event skipped notices. It took me like 3 tries to finally get my XP. What a fucking faggot, he wasted a good 20 seconds of my life, and that's a totally flame-worthy event!

I was meriting the other day and walked in front of this IT mamool jaan for some stupid reason the monster attacked me. Doesnt he know that if he attacks me and knocks my hp to 0 I cant get exp from him? I'm going to flame that asshole mamol ja on qcdn now. What was SE thinking allowing monsters of all things to attack me

Fixed

ITT: Skaw meltdown over being too lazy to /blockaid or wait 30 seconds to be cured

I don't really care about who's right in this case. The important lesson here is to cover all of your bases before making a stand. It doesn't matter if a mage would listen if you sent a tell to stop curing. It would make you the undisputed winner in the following flameboard thread. If I have 15 minutes to make a screenshot and type out a thread, I'll take 20 and make sure noone can make me the bad guy. It's true that lots of people don't really follow directions, but it's also true that people love to reverse flameboard threads.

As for cures cancelling events, that's something that I had heard of, and I'd know it if someone mentioned it in conversation, but it comes into play so rarely that I wouldn't think of it if a situation arose. I'm pretty robotic when I play FFXI. FFXI is little more than a bunch of if/then statements, with minimal thought involved. If I see a dead person I try to cast raise on it whether 20 others already have (IE:beseiged), if I see low hp I try and cure it (not thinking about percentages and the player's job and probable hp), if I see an nm I claim it (even if it's worthless to me). All my responses come without much thought. I have to admit I could've been the target of this flame, if I could find a copy of WotG anywhere.

oh look, the LIFE OUTSIDE GAEM card.

Hi. Global game. Not everyone understands english. This was at 7ish AM EST before I had to leave.

<cure> <no,thanks>

Been in the game for what, 5 1/2 years as you put it. But you already knew that.....

Lol, seriously weak flame. You overreacted because you were short on time, and don't like to communicate in-game (I'm guessing).

I'm not at home so I can't look at the auto-translator but I'm sure even something like {Cure} {No thanks.} would have got the message across.

Disregard my last post, looks like Kerowynn beat me to it >.>

lol

Very valid point, I had honestly forgotten about this, but it is true. Sorry for the back-to-back posts, no edit button sucks. >.>
