Cant find a healer? Well...

I asked about that earlier, if there was any other healing spells they got. I don't know what wild carrot does, but the amount of hp restored on a healing wind(according to your numbers) is pathetic. The only real advantage of it would be to wake up the party if they're all asleep; otherwise it wouldn't restore nearly enough hp to be useful.

dont expect the best type of healing from a job that delves in so much bud

wild carrot when you first get it does about 120-153

magic fruit without /whm does about 300-450 or so

healing breeze can stack with divine seal so those numbers are doubled and the numbers are with a blu without a /whm sub its useful for light healing from puks aoe wind attacks without spamming wild carrot or magic fruit

Divine seal is once every 10 minutes, so it's not really a good qualifier in how good the healing spell is.

okay, well, this thread really needs to be locked. Arguments just keep popping up left and right that have nothing to do with the original post. This thread is about BLU main healing if a WHM or RDM arent available, and people seem to ignore that part of the thread. What, do I need to point it out in big bold letters or something? lol

Just when I think I can pick a mage job other than BLM to escape main healing...

You pull me right back in.

Will have to try this sometime if I can get the chance, to see if it really is plausible - Should i level BLU that high anyway...

bajaratt blu mage can main heal just find i've had them main heal plenty of time (even pre wild carrot). I would say they bring "almost"
as much to the table as rdm does, except no refresh or haste.
btw blu dont get white wind. As you notice here they get wide range of spells that surpass other job you have said. Pld, brd, and smn cant do all of these sleepga, silence aoe stoneskin, stun, eva down, bio est. est. they would not be my first choice but they would be on my mnd if there is no whm or rdm around.

No one said they do get White Wind. Considering theres only one type of Puk, and they already get a spell from them. White Wind is reserved for NM/Besieged Puks.

I personally love BLUs for their ability to backup heal (Magic Fruit) and Stun during Ichi recast (Headbutt)...but I dunno if they'd wanna be main healer simply because main healing grabs hate as it is...that AND meleeing would just grab a ton of hate, and I don't think BLU gets Clear Mind II-IV which'd make resting for them also a bit tough.

Rather...could a BLU main heal? Possibly, but I don't think they could keep up if it were something like Goblins, unless they're really good at spamming the AOE attacks. It'd be very interesting to test, nonetheless.

If they're main healing, they better not be meleeing. Since not only do they not have Staff skill, (serious) meleeing with Light Staff is just dumb. If they don't have one equiped while trying to do the job, they're just gimp.

Just because they have the ability to do something while doing another, doesn't mean they should. White Mage has the ability to melee, with a decent weapon skill cap. But you don't see them doing it while trying to keep people alive.

Depending on the mobs, they wouldn't need to rest. Magic Hammer and MP Drainkiss can stretch their MP pool quite well.

Sorry if I missed it (being rushed through my break), but does Light Staff enhance Wild Carrot / Magic Fruit / Healing Breeze?

This isnt a discussion as to whether or not BLU is a better main healer than RDM or WHM. Its a discussion saying that its possible for BLU to main heal.

That being said, BLU can get up to Clear Mind 4, I think. And if not 4, they can definitely get up to 3.

Healing Breeze, I'm not too sure on.

But the others, yes. Magic Hammer is Light elemental as well.

What do you want people to discuss man? It seems their kinda going into a more in depth study of it and all and they're discussing the usefullness of Blue. Hell, Skaw and Ish are talking about Blu's main healing right now. (Btw, This WHM will melee your monk with a light staff ftw Skaw ) It just seems you want people to either say "I agree" or "I disagree." Not: "Blue mage can because...." and things will stem. Not necessarily a derail bud, just getting more thorough then you planned.

What the hell did you want out of this thread then, just a bunch of yes/no without any sort of discussion at all? If you noticed, no one has disagreed with the fact that BLU can main heal if needed, the discussion has been how well and what they bring to the table. Everything has been on topic, people are just discussing the second part of the question.

Can they heal? It's a yes or no answer, but the answer is completely meaningless without explaining why they can or cannot be a capable main healer. Pull the stick out of your ass already, the whole thread has been relevant.

no, notrly. Take a look at some of the previous posts, and youll see who Im targeting with my post. It WAS made to be BLU discussion, not "This job is still better" discussion, because were talking about using BLU as a last resort to being a main healer, not a case of "Should I choose this BLU to main heal, or this WHM, if theyre both lfp?"

Some people understand the threads point. A lot of others dont.

well those are the people who sit in whitgate for hours on end waiting for a whm or rdm or sending blind invites to me and other whm/rdm even when being in sky or some off the wall place with ls. People just don't like change and to dam lazy try new things.

people thought the same way when NIN was first introduced as a tank :/

First of, yes. Healing Breeze does get enhanced by Light Staff. the 10% bonus isn't because its a light spell, its because of the +10% cure potency.

Second of, how often do you, as a WHM, how many times, in a merit party, do you use anything above Curaga II? Last I checked, Curaga II cures for 180 without cure potency bonuses. He said it heals for 160 (which is only 20 HP less). However, Curaga II costs 120 MP to cast, and Healing Breeze only costs 55 MP.

However, he were slightly wrong about how much Healing Breeze heals. I don't remember the exact numbers, but I do believe its even slightly more then 180 without cure potency. Which means it have the potency of Curaga II, while costing more then half of what Curaga II costs. And you're saying that, and I quote "but the amount of hp restored on a healing wind(according to your numbers) is pathetic. The only real advantage of it would be to wake up the party if they're all asleep; otherwise it wouldn't restore nearly enough hp to be useful."

As a WHM/BLU (couldn't get enough -/+ HP as BLU to try it out <.< ) 190 without healing staff, 212 HP with only Light Staff, and 229 with noble's tunic. So yes, more potent then Curaga II for more then half the MP cost. that's as a WHM/BLU, dunno how it would be as BLU main.

A better question would be how often in merit parties do I use a curaga, period? Aside from waking people up, I almost never use curaga's, because they're almost never needed if your party is competent.

It's better than I thought, I thought it was crap since he gave vague information, but it's still nothing that makes me think that BLU would be an awesome healer. If you actually need AoE cures enough to consider them a "selling point" to BLU being a competent healer, your party sucks.

At later levels, 180 hp isn't much. Unless you're worried about blood aggro, you wouldn't need to cure them all the way to full; so the fact that you can means almost nothing.

The only time I really use Curagas are at fly/imp camp for Cursed Sphere. Although Barwatera takes care of that most of the time. Yes, WHM is better, but BLU is potent (from a pure HP/MP standpoint, looking at cures).

In parties while healing, the main cure spell is Cure III (not counting Regen). However, BLU beat WHM at that (not counting cure potency) aswell. Wild Carrot, too, heals for 190 without any Cure Potency. That is 10 HP mor ethen Cure III. However, Wild Carrot only costs 37 MP, compared to Cure III's 46.

From a pure Cure/MP ratio stand point, a Wild Carrot without Light Staff is more potent then a Cure III with Light Staff and Aristocrat's Tunic.

Without Light Staff
Cure III:3.9
Wild Carrot: 5.1

With Light Staff
Cure III: 4.3
Wild Carrot: 5.7

Light Staff + Noble's Tunic
Cure III: 4,6

Light Staff + Aristocrat's Tunic
Cure III: 4,77

However, this does not apply for Cure V as that beats out Wild Carrot by a long shot. And if you consider Regen spells on tp of these, WHM beats BLU by a whole lot. WH Malso gets Bar-spells and Hastes, on top of it.

I know BLU can main heal decetly well. I had to do it once in the early 40s when we lost our WHM. Though I did it while only subbing NIN (since I was not the main healer when the group moved out to camp) and with a BLM for backup. I just switched around a few spells, set spells for Clear Mind, set Wild Carrot, and other spells that gave me more MP. Needless to say, I was glad to be out of that possition when we finally picked up a RDM (roughly an hour later) since, I really am not to too fond of sitting back and healing, lol.
